Ridiculously overpriced, unimpressive fish.
I live very close to this place, but have decided I will definitely not be coming here anymore.
Prepare to be heavily interrogated by the older heavy-​set guy with the beard every time you plan on purchasing any fish. I’ve been keeping aquariums since I was 10 (12 years), and don’t need a lecture every time I try to purchase a sub $ 10 decorative fish. It’s so funny hearing this guy and the other employees try to preach proper fishkeeping, when you can look around and see tanks lined with dead fish & plagued by ich. Also, don’t try to sell me a «special» $ 40 immediate tank cycling liquid you have in the back, rather than let me purchase $ 15 worth of starter fish to cycle the tank. The guy literally would not let me buy the fish without his «special» liquid.
If you’re looking for fish, try Pet’s Palace on Goldsmith Ln, Southside Pets, or even Feeders Supply. As for pet supplies, prepare to pay at least 20% more for anything, as opposed to the other shops mentioned.

Friendly, local and they care about their animals and customers. One of Louisville’s gems.

The staff really cares about the animals, one of the staff members actually breeds the rabbits they sell. The only thing that bothers me is that they sell puppies and I’d rather see people rescue them, but I can’t make that decision for other people and I know the puppies are well cared for at Sandy’s. I’m happy they sell dog pajamas that help with incontinence, I’m about to get some for my old boy.

A great local pet shop, they really want to help you and aren’t focused on profiting the way the staff at petsmart are. They have a wide selection of everything and they’re very clean.

This is a shop that specializes in tropical fishes. Two thirds of the store is lined with fresh and salt water tanks. Though I am not familiar with fishes, but this is one of the larger selections I have seen in the local pet shops.
The shop also has a good variety of birds both large and small. I saw a large macaw, a couple of green cheeked conures, a couple of love birds and parakeets. I still did not find what I want (a heated perch), but it was good to know this store does carry a good variety of bird supplies. The customer service is friendly and helpful, too.
