Yesternook

Yesternook is a spacious antique mall with a wide variety of offerings. You’ve got your bigger stuff like furniture (kitchen tables/​chairs, patio sets, chairs) and plenty of smaller knick knacks and collectibles. They have a pretty good offering of mid-​century modern décor, as well as some re-​purposed and repainted furniture. The prices vary by booth, but they lean kind of between mid and expensive ranges. If you want a real bargain go to Tickled Pink on Taylor Blvd– I’m sure that’s where many of the vendors here shop.
It’s still a neat place to look, of course. Go get some pizza next door, then walk it off at the antique mall. Sounds like a perfect date to me!

I love Yesternook. I live close and go often. They have a fun selection that’s ever changing. I got a beautiful oak buffet on my most recent visit for $ 75. I could not believe how much it was marked down but the day I got it, there were multiple others inquiring on it. They let me pay with my card by phone to secure it so I suggest if you see something you love, act fast!!! The staff is always friendly and I love Godfrey’s garage around back for items I can buy and work on diy projects.

Antique store in an old funeral home. Decent variety of stuff — mixture of ladies’ stuff and men’s stuff. Interesting place to look around. Fair amount of mid century items. It was a mixture of antiques, vintage and thrift store items. Prices overall seemed fair.

Yesternook is definitively my favorite place to look for antiques and all kinds of fun curiosities here in Lou. After my first trip there, I walked out with a large vintage amber apothecary bottle $ 4, a mason jar full of Amethysts $ 3 and a gorgeous brass plant stand $ 8.
This place is such a fun little goldmine if you are looking for odds + ends, as well as furniture too!

Yesternook is one of my favorite antique/​vintage stores in the area! We will often head across the river for the explicit purpose of checking out what is new and finding something that we clearly can’t continue to live without. Frankly, I don’t know how we’ve gotten on this long without having _​_​_​_​_​_​in our home.
I live in a virtual time capsule of mid century furnishings. Yesternook caters pretty heavily to this era while leaning forward a bit into the 70’s and 80’s at times. This massive house has a TON of stuff including furniture, books, lighting, clocks, dishes, salt and pepper shakers, knick knacks, chotchkies… you get the idea. Lot of stuff. And most of it is in good repair!
Out back is Godfrey’s Garage, their version of a rough room. Check there if you don’t mind fixing up some furniture yourself.
Ownership recently changed hands and I’ve seen prices go up a little. The new owners also look like they are trying to make the building nicer with recent floor work.
A great place to spend some time, make fun of silly products and find something you can’t live without.

This place is great. You could get lost in here just looking at everything. There little garage out back has gently used furniture but it is in great shape and really fairly priced! Inside there more furniture and everything you could image, jewelry, lighting, comics, books, toys, knick-​knacks, retro posters, old street signs and so much more. It great place if you’re looking for something to liven up your living space. Definitely check this place out.

I don’t know how I’ve not reviewed Yesternook until now. I love this little Germantown gem!
On my most recent visit I got a small side table for $ 8.99 from the garage (markdown room) and two milk glass vases for $ 2 each. These items would have sold for much more at other consignment shops around Lou! I loved how helpful the staff were when I had questions too. The cashier handed me a flyer for their Holiday Open House and I can’t wait to check it out!
In the past I’ve bought several wooden pieces of furniture that were is good shape, and I painted them to give them my own flair! There is a great selection of mid-​century modern furniture at Yesternook. Those pieces sell for much more around town. Most are in beautiful condition too. I love the oddities most about the store. They have some VERY creepy posters from circuses of long ago. (They are the stuff that nightmares are made of if you are scared of clowns!) There was a women’s dance costume (leotard) from the 1950’s. They have much of what you’d expect in a consignment shop at extremely reasonable prices. Let’s just say I’ve never been to Yesternook and not bought something.
I am also intrigued that the building that houses Yesternook was once a funeral home. I love old houses and this is a big building with lots of little rooms of consignment furniture (that once had dead people in them)! It’s proximity to The Post and Four Pegs, two of the best places to eat in Louisville, doesn’t hurt either!

Visited on Saturday and as usual some unique items; something for everyone. The owners seem to work very hard at maintaining the property. Currently working on the back of their property and building flower containers to beautify the rear of property. Certainly will be colorful driving down the alley. It is so nice when business owners work to be part of the community and leading by example. What a positive for the Schnitzelburg Community!
This is a wonderful retro vintage store and certainly worth a visit. New items stocked everyday with some amazing finds that are reasonably priced. Also found Candleberry Candles. Staff is friendly and helpful. Thanks ladies.

We visited after we found out some of the vendors from the recently closed Goss Avenue Antiques moved to Yesternook. This is a great location and I was very pleased with the different items found throughout the building. There were typical antique items (knick knacks and collectibles) in addition to furniture and artwork. The prices were fair but I also think it depended on the vendors. Some vendors were a little on the pricey side while others were quite fair. Considering the different types of items for sale I was pleased on the balance in the varying types of items. I didn’t run into too many «flea market» items and it was nice to see the quantity at a minimum. Don’t get me wrong, flea markets are awesome, but there is a time and place. Yesternook is no flea market.
The ambiance was nice and I didn’t get a feeling the displays were too crowded and stuffy. Items were gently displayed and the vendor displays were not overcrowded with items stacked on top of a pile of other sale items… you know, like a flea market booth. LOL
If you’re looking for a nice, quaint, peaceful stroll through an antique store… Yesternook is a place to visit.

Love this store for so many reasons. Locally owned they feature a wide variety of items from furniture to glassware and everything in between. We’ve bought some amazing things at this store from their vendors! Prices are reasonable. Store is clean. Items are clean and they have a garage of furniture to fit every budget. Some retro some modern. A must for every shopper for self or others. Go and shop. You won’t be sorry! Oh and they are super friendly!

So we’ve lived behind this place called the YESTERNOOK for going on four years now. We’ve shopped there, our family and friends shop there… until recently we’ve been on good terms with the place. Finally! After the third time of having our guests screamed and cursed at. I was being dropped off in the alley behind our house and this creepy guy that works there came out demanded my friend to roll down her window and started screaming at her in her face for dropping me off in their «parking lot» (our alley) I finally had enough because this is the third time this has happened. One time our friend came in shaking asking me to escort him to his car because some guy was being very rude and was screaming at him. So fast forward to this evening when my husband’s car gets threatened to get towed at 1:30 in the morning. They are sweeping our streets and we’ve parked back there every time they’ve swept the streets for going on four years now! Also, our land lord was told it was fine to park back there against the fence in the last two spots. It would have been nice to have gotten a notice of some sort about a management change and your decision to come out in the middle of the night and scream at people when your business isn’t even open! That’s okay we’ll quit parking back there and you know what? We will quit shopping there also. I’ll even take it a step further by telling everyone I know not to shop there because of the rude staff you employ.

Found several items here, and really enjoyed Larry! He’s a character, who was very helpful and easy to deal with. Will definitely be back!

Update: Love this place. Each time we go, people are carting out purchases or bringing in new things. Even better — Yesternook is active on Facebook and regularly posts photos of new items. We went back to buy a drawing desk and it was already gone — so sad! But we’ll be coming back.

The prices are very good compared to some of the other antique stores in Louisville. I had fun looking around and I look forward to going back and exploring. Very cute! I really suggest visiting here!

Great store! Operated by very sweet ladies! Start out in the garage outside, there is always a project to be found! We never leave empty handed! Interesting, eclectic, and fun!

The Gist:
The building itself is an oddity looking to be an old funeral parlor. Hit up the garage first and then explore the two stories of random and amazing finds (if you hit up the record section upstairs).
How Much?:
Prices vary per area/​booth but are low to reasonable.
My Overall Opinion:
I like to dig for my treasure!
All in all it was a good exploration, the only thing I don’t like is the Peddlers Mall style that’s become so popular (the areas all separated into themes and seem mostly owned by old ladies who love teddy bears) and for me cheapens the experience. I want to dig through unorganized things and happen upon a place unsorted and unusual. Sure it makes it easier if everything’s sorted into booths, but I feel like its just like shopping at a mall, which is never really that fun. A humans brain is wired to feel most rewarded after searching a while. Isn’t the fun in the hunt? This place is worth a look on a rainy day, or really any day you feel like finding something unusual.

So. Much. Cute.
My roommate and I were on the search for a kitchen table and chairs. The ones we saw here were lovely (though too large for our small apartment) but they had several very decent sets, a table and 4 or 5 chairs for under $ 100. And that’s not to even mention all the other awesome, strange, cute, cool stuff in the rest of the store.
And there are soooo many rooms! The place just keeps on going. There was at least one thing in every room that I wanted to buy.
Once we have our new place sorted out and I have money again, I will be back here.

Once again, I need to stop passing by these shops. I finally drove in to this place after passing it almost every single day.
And how cute is this store??? After I walked around what I thought were all of the rooms, I had to take the time to chat with the two owners. They are the sweetest people. I made sure to tell them some of my highlights:
— it smells good. i mean seriously, what antique store smells good? exactly.
— it is clean. crisp even. it is well lit and easy to find all of the little nicknacks (and there certainly are many to choose from)
— many of the prices are more than reasonable. for some, even cheap!
— it is an old funeral home, but you would have no idea.
— they utilize every possible nook and cranny in the place. I appreciate that.
My biggest problem was that I wanted to see more furniture (couches/​wingback chairs/​etc.) — but I was reassured that much of their furniture rotates out quickly and to check back often.
I will be back. In fact, I went back two days after and the ladies remembered me. See, told you they were sweet.

This place is awesome, HUGE thrift/​antique store. I found a lot to browse and think about and there is even more in the garage behind the building!

So I happened about this place cruising to the bar the other night and was pretty stoked to see another little antique shop. But when I went in yesterday I realized I was quite mistaken. There was nothing Little about it! It appears to be almost like an old church or something from the outside and the entire space is nicely put together like a puzzle. Room upon room of cool old couches, tables, chairs, a badass Bourbon Bar made of barrels placed specifically with similarly themed bar glasses. It seems unlikely that there could be that many odds and ends and yet not feel cluttered or like you’re going through Grandma’s basement. I saw a few things in one of the back rooms that felt overpriced to me and I was disappointed and then it was quickly replaced with excitement over the next room with cool lamps for 8 bucks, a cool old green ashtray for that smoking fool boyfriend of mine and the best find: an old wooden desk just the size I was looking for. 15 bucks. Score. It needs to be painted, but I had been planning on doing that anyways. There weren’t even ugly ones on Craigslist for that cheap.
So there were a couple random rooms that weren’t my cup of tea, but that is kind of the fun of going in these shops. Decorating my house, one piece at a time!
Oh, just read the flyer — apparently it is the old Russman Mortuary. That’s a little creepy. Ha. I do love the quote on there «Enter as Strangers, Leave as Friends.» While you hear that plenty, here it ended up to be quite true as one lady helped me take it to the car and then another lady upon seeing that the desk didn’t fit (literally by a ½ inch — really?!) offered to follow me over and drop it off. Who is that nice? So I did make a friend that day — and now I have a new project to add to the list of will my house ever be complete?
