Buss Plumbing & HVAC

Matt Buss has been our plumber for 4 years, for everything from a leaking faucet, installing mini-​ductless AC units throughout our house, 6am urgent calls for the heat not working (twice in 2 years; most recently on Dec. 3, 2013), new toilets, boiler problem (that another plumber installed incorrectly), install sump pump, work for renovated bathroom. His work is great — never had a problem, and he explains what is wrong and our options/​costs so we can understand them and choose. He was referred to us by 3 friends in our neighborhood.
The main reason why I always call him is because he is honest: while his prices seem average (not high, not low), he isn’t selling me something I don’t need. I don’t know anything about plumbing so have to rely on the word of my plumber. (I learned this when I had another plumber price out replacing a toe kick heater in my kitchen. He had 3 different prices — all crazy high — depending on how many years of ‘warranty’ I wanted (he wasn’t the manufacturer of the unit; meaning, his ‘warranty’ was only as to his work). It felt like I was listening to a car salesman.)
I own a home, so want a plumber I can rely on and have a good relationship with for the long term. Matt is that. (An aside: his address here says Lowell, but I’m in Belmont so don’t worry about calling him if you don’t live near Lowell. He’s never mentioned travel distance so must not be an issue.)

When my HVAC failed on a Saturday, and I was leaving Monday night on a business trip I was convinced I was totally out of luck. I called Buss Mechanical Saturday afternoon and Matt came over and looked over my system, even recharged it and then used a leak detector on it. Unfortunately the compressor was not able to hold a charge and needed to be replaced. Matt came back on Monday and had everything finished by mid-​afternoon and I caught my evening flight. Excellent and responsive service, will be using Buss Mechanical for both my home and business HVAC needs.
