It’s been long since last time I stayed there (last winter), but the service sucks (might just to certain people?)
I had to stayed in the hotel for 2 nights because the school dorm didn’t open at that time (yup, I was a student from uml)
I checked in at around 9 or 10 pm with all my suitcases and when I finally got my assigned room on the second floor, it turned out to be a room for disabled (nothing against disabled, but it was offensive when almost all other same type of rooms were available). So I went downstairs to ask the front desk to switch my room (politely, cuz I thought it might be her mistake). However, although she changed my room eventually, she told me the rooms were all the same.
On the last day I stayed there I need to go to work so I asked the front desk lady (another one) if she could keep my stuffs. She told me of course and asked me to put my suitcases outside the desk (for which she would move them in a room to store). However, when I went back to the hotel at noon, my stuffs were still outside the front desk (she told me she would do it later). When I was done with my work and ready to pick my stuffs (to move into dorm), I found out my stuffs were still outside.
I know I was a student, but I paid the same amount of money to stay there.
I do not understand how come they could treat me like that.
Although ICC belongs to UML and I love UML, I would never stay there again.

me: hi, our hairdryer shorted out and fried the outlet in our room.
girl at desk: blank stare, followed by silence, followed by more blank stare.

me: do you think you might be able to replace our hairdryer?
girl at desk: blank stare, pause.
awkward pause.
girl at desk: i guess we could see if there are any extras, but i don’t think there are.
me: well, it would be helpful if you could check.
girl at desk: turns away.
me: uh, we’re in room 435.
end of scene.
upshot was, we got our hairdryer, the beds were comfortable, but the housecleaning was totally erratic. as in my roommate said they didn’t come in to empty trash or clean the room for the two days she was there previous, and while we were both there, they disregarded our attempts to save our towels from daily washing every day save one.

One of the nicest hotels, situated in a very scenic location. I stayed here for an event and everything was so easy. Here are some of the highlights of the overall experience:
+ Check-​in: The front desk staff was very kind and polite. Checking in was a breeze. Although doing the reservation was a bit of a challenge, but check in process was very smooth.
+ Lobby /​restaurant: The hotel has a great lobby, with a very modern design. A small bar adjoining the lobby for those who do not want to venture out. Also, the on site restaurant had a pretty decent menu.
+ Rooms: They have standard rooms and some suites. Very neat and clean. Great beds, mattresses, linen, pillows. Bath robes, iron, extra blankets. AC worked effectively. Clean bathrooms. Bath robes were of great quality. All rooms are Non smoking. The ones on the 1^st floor — on the river side of the property, have small fenced in paved backyards with chairs and table. Smoking is allowed there.
+ Facilities: Parking — ample spots. Conference rooms /​ball rooms — quite good and multiple options for events of various kinds; Corporate events, Conferences, Conventions, Trainings, Weddings, etc. The property grounds have been kept in great shape with everything green and beautified.
Some of the gripes I heard from other guests staying at the property, which were kind of understandable because they were out of townees. Lowell is not necessarily the best of towns on the north shore. Although there seem to be restaurants and stores not too far away from the property, there is nothing at a walking distance. And depending on what time of the week you are here, you may not have too many options to choose from. Some rude awakenings for out of townees like a pack of ciggies being most expensive here in MA, liquor isn’t sold up until a certain hour of the day, restaurants don’t open till close to lunch time, etc… These are more lack of knowledge about the commonwealth issues and guests coming from out of state or far away should do some research before they travel.
I really had no problems with the place and found the location quite charming — being on the banks of the river and all. 5 stars from me!

My brother and I arranged a family reunion Sunday dinner here about 2 months ahead for guests, many elderly, from all around the USA. The reunion was Aug 10−11−12. We had a thoroughly positive experience. The staff, including Kathleen and Paul with whom I had the most contact, were very helpful and competent, from the space provided and last minute requests to recommendations for a florist and the next morning for a location in walking distance for a full breakfast. (Bagels, muffins, coffee and fresh fruit were available in the lobby of the inn on a Monday and a Tuesday morning but some of us wanted more.) We had many comments about «a first class hotel» from the guests who stayed over to explore the National Historic Park. Convenient walk to the Park HQ and the New England Quilt Museum.

Was here for a comedy show. Had a great time. Easy, free parking…
Waitress was friendly.

I was the DJ /​MC at the ICC May 26, 2013 for a very detail oriented wedding reception and my company provided several services that required working closely with the staff. There were so many details it was very chaotic trying to wrangle the 8 vendors from my company — Photo, Video, celebrity Rene Rancourt, Photo Booth, Uplighting, TVs, pipe and drape Sheer Curtains, and more… and have everything fire in order with everyone on the same page. From the top down, it was friendly, «please allow me to get that for you» type service that you usually only see at the über expensive foofy hotels that charge 2 — 4 time the cost. Paul, the food and beverage director and Kathleen the hands on coordinator both had big friendly smiles and went out of their way again and again to make sure the bride and groom and my team had every and any possible thing we could imagine. Too many incidental stories to list here. Suffice to say, the entire team glowed, and the food was out of this world. I love my prime rib and this was very well prepared and served. The entire staff was upbeat which means they are treated well and with respect. That is the key to a great outcome. Great job ICC !

I had this work event at the Tsongas Center down the street, so this is where we stayed. It was not easy to find at night but we got there fine & it’s a very eco-​friendly type of place. They were friendly & helpful from the reservation process to check-​in.
The restaurant on the other hand could have done better though. We were there before they were closing but it was like they were trying to get us to not eat there. They took forever to get us our food which didn’t make sense, basically we were the only ones there. The server basically took our order & was never to be scene until later. We had someone join us later & still took a while which didn’t make sense. I mean you have to expect late comers in a hotel, that’s what the restaurant is for.

I recently attended a conference at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. We were encouraged to take our lunch break at the onsite restaurant, 50 Warren. Once we were seated, the waitress informed us that they weren’t made aware «you all» were coming for lunch and that she wasn’t sure she’d be able to get us served in our 1-​hr break. WOW was she right. She proceeded to take the orders from every table before turning a single ticket over to the kitchen. 45 minutes later when meals started coming out from the kitchen she walked around with a very confused look unsure where to leave any dish. My colleague was served her lunch 30 minutes before I was — and my food was cold when it finally made its way to me.
The food TASTED good, but the service was inexcusable.

A review of lunch at 50 Warren. Pros: very nice outdoor seating area next to a canal, very good service, a generous pour of wine, tasty fries. Con: overcooked meat. My burger, though tasty, instead of the medium rare I ordered was well done. My husband’s blackened chicken was also tasty but overcooked. We were the only people there on a Saturday lunchtime in August.
Looks like a nice place to have a conference.

It’s hard to rate this place because it is a mixed bag. I’m being kind of generous with 4 stars, but some of it is pretty good. I’ve stayed here twice since my last review. It’s the only hotel in downtown Lowell.
I stayed there for my boyfriend’s graduation in May and got one of the patio rooms. I also paid for another room so our friends could celebrate with us. The patio was covered in cigarett butts, and upside down planter with a dead branch someone stuck in it, 2 chairs with no table, and most of the landscaping was weeds. I was disappointed because I got the patio room so we could have a celebration toast outside and it was pretty gross. When I told the person at the front desk, I was given the brushoff and was told that she’d make a note of it. I wound up cleaning it up and pulling up the weeds that were coming up at the door so we could still have our celebration. I sent an email to the hotel and never got a response.
I went up again for the Lowell Folk Festival. There was a problem with my room and the hotel called me to offer me a healthy discount to take different room type and I was pleased by that. The rooms are still tired, but the beds are comfortable and clean. they really need new carpeting and wallpaper. Housekeeping never came to our room and we were out just about all day until 10 pm, so there was plenty of time to do it.
I like the restaurant. The food is reasonable and really good. The scallops in bacon are excellent. The bartender made a good drink and there is a blond woman who has been a waitress there from when it was the Double Tree and she is exceptionally friendly.
The parking is free and we were able to stay parked even after check out to enjoy the festival which was a nice perk.
The coffee in the lobby was actually OK and they water with the strawberries was a nice touch.

I booked this room via an Internet discount site and only paid $ 70. The room is spacious, the beds comfortable, the bathroom clean. It is well decorated and inviting. The front desk was efficient and helpful. The lack of a fifth star has to do with the lobby. Lacks a bit. Wouldn’t want to hang out there. There is a nice outdoor seating area though so I’m headed that way!

This review is for 50 Warren St Restaurant at the Conference Center. 50 Warren is a very small space that may be useful for a small function but definitely not the place for dinner. The night’s entertainment was good but super loud for such an enclosed space. Sitting next to one another, we couldn’t carry on a conversation. I was given a menu holder without a menu but it was promptly replaced. The water glasses were dirty. The free apps were cold. I was served an appetizer portion of the bacon wrapped scallops rather than the entrée. I’m not sure why it was assumed I’d be getting the app when my companion ordered an entrée. When I questioned the waitress, I was told that’s how they’re served as if I was wrong about the entry listed in the menu that’s served with risotto. The scallops were good but the bacon was not cooked thoroughly so it was basically like eating a rubber band. The steak was similar to what you’d get from a buffet. We left after two bites. Severe lack of attention to detail. Comparable to high school culinary. Horrible experience. Will not be back.

My reservation was for a room with a view of the locks — clearly stated on the confirmation email I received. When I checked in, I had a room on the opposite side with a view of the packing lot. I brought this up with the manager and it was resolved right then and there. I appreciate this kind of customer service. When I am back in Lowell again, I will stay here. Thank you Tia!

I have stayed at the UMass Lowell Conference Center because it was really the only hotel that I could find within walking distance to attend a conference in Lowell. This hotel was booked for the weekend with a conference and a wedding party, so I’d advise you to book early, as I had, if you decide to stay here. I also saved a lot of money by booking over a month in advance. Nearer the date, the rate more than doubled on expedia! They have a monopoly in town and their prices are affected by supply and demand.
I did notice the new wifi equipment in the hallway entrance, but I had not brought my computer so I can’t vouch for it or against it. But after seeing their «business center» which was a hole in the wall and a computer in it that was not even connected to a printer or the internet as of March 2011, I am not optimistic about their IT department should something with the wifi not be working.
My room was very clean, and a refurbishment appears to be ongoing in the general areas, which were pristenely carpeted and featured a small lounge with fireplace and bar open nightly til 9pm (officially) or 10pm (if customers linger). But this hotel was misleading and unaccommodating, so I was disappointed overall.
Upon arrival I noticed that there was a dining area and bar, but not a lot in the way of the free breakfast. It was coffee accompanied by a muffin plate. When I attempted to use cash to go to the affiliated student center, which was practically empty (maybe it was spring break, perhaps?), I was accosted by the hotel’s café hostess who told me that the service was for students only, and I wasn’t even allowed to go in there let alone eat. I could understand if this policy was intended to allow for any and all students to be provided for FIRST, however, is my cash no good to them if there are empty tables? Like I said, there didn’t appear to be anyone knocking the doors down to get in to this dining room which was kept under lock and key. For the three days I was in town for breakfast, with a guest, we went off campus for every meal. We could have been better off, but I won’t ever know.
The rooms were isolated from the lobby and conference rooms by separate corridors, however the walls were pretty thin and the bass noise from the wedding party’s sound system could not be kept out of our room during the night.
The hotel website indicated that a full FITNESS FACILITY HAD BEEN INSTALLED this past December (2010), and that a business lounge WOULD also be available for guests. What a disappointment it was, though, to discover that the so called business lounge area, as well as the single room which had been designated to become a fitness facility, were just two completely EMPTY ROOMS. I only found a useless computer, not hooked up to the internet nor even so much as a printer. I suppose I could have played solitaire or minesweeper if I wanted to. The historic town of Lowell in winter did not offer much else in the way of diversion.
