Business Owner

Kathleen Nichols, D.D.S., has practiced in Lubbock for 30 years, opening her practice after graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1986. A «Texan by Choice», Dr. Nichols got here as soon as she could! Dr. Nichols has received Fellowships in the prestigious American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Further, she has been awarded a Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In June 2015, Dr. Nichols received her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Nichols served 3 years on the Board of Directors of the Texas Dental Association. Previously she has served as a Delegate to the Texas Dental Association from the South Plains District and has chaired and been a member of various Reference Committees. She has served as Chairman of the Texas Dental Association Council on Ethics and Judicial Affairs and as a member of the Texas Dental Association Council on Dental Care Programs.

The absolute best dentist I’ve ever been to. When I was younger I had a bad experience at a dentist and have always been really anxious when I have to go, even for just a cleaning. After waking up one morning with excruciating pain, I called the office and Lisa answered the phone and immediately made me an appointment even though I was a new patient and out of network. I was able to come in that day on my schedule. When I got to the office everybody was extremely nice and friendly, which put my nerves at ease. Rachael got everything ready and talked to me like I was a friend. She was AMAZING. I saw Dr. Smyda and she carefully explained everything with me and made sure I understood and was aware of what was to come. Even though I got the worst news I’ve ever had at a dentist, I felt more at ease in this office than I ever had. I’ll refer anybody and everybody to go see this team! They’re awesome!

I had a crown done a few years back. There were difficulties during the prep which resulted in needing a root canal, and subsequently retreatment. She blamed the difficulty on my «unusual» anatomy. When in a lot of pain after the crown done, she did not have time to talk to me on the phone. She just had the receptionist pass on the endo referral. Not cool.

I have been seeing Dr. Nichols for a while now — somehow she and her staff seem to get friendlier and friendlier with every visit. I appreciate that they never seem to be bothered by my questions and love the time that they spend to explain a procedure.
It’s a little weird I know, butt one of my favorite things here is the amount of technology that they use to monitor and track the patients. Right by the dental chair, you can view a computer screen that shows your teeth, x-​rays, stats, measurements, notes, and your horoscope (probably not but you get the idea). Seeing the health of your teeth so clearly would help to comfort even the most nervous patient.
If you’re looking for a dentist, I think you’ll appreciate the services here!

Dr. Nichols and her staff are so caring and friendly! The office is VERY clean and up to date. They treat you like family and it’s not uncommon for Dr. Nichols to call and check on you after a procedure! Love it here!
