WARNINGROACHESEVERYWHERE!!! If you want to dine with the roaches this is the place! I had roaches crawling up my legs and landing on my hands. Extremely disgusting! Considering sending the photos of the roaches to the Health inspector. 0⁄100 will never eat here again. Get your shit together or leave like the rest of the failed businesses in the world. The lantern more like the Roach Dinner.

The lantern is a good place to have a drink and a meal. The food is pretty good. We usually get the sliders. they have a thanksgiving slider that’s great. And recently added a sloppy joe slider that we’re gonna try this week. The interior is clean and classy. And the staff(in their weird gray outfits) are always super cool. Also they have a dog friendly porch! But most importantly is the liquor selection. It’s great And they pour nice. It does get crazy packed on weekends so keep that in mind. Only issue is the bathrooms. or lack there of. When it’s busy you might have to wait for a while. Or you can just go to cvs ;)

This is one of my favorite places to grab a drink in Lubbock. For Lubbock, it’s super solid. They have a decent draft selection(15 – 20 taps if I remember correctly) and they have a good menu of whiskey, etc. It’s a good place if you want to grab a drink with coworkers and friends while avoiding the college scene on Broadway. They have good drink specials, and their food is solid as well. The pretzels are awesome(my personal favorite). Good bar food without breaking the bank. The service can be shaky at times since they usually only have 1 – 2 waiters/waitresses in addition to the bartender. It’s usually not a problem, but I have experienced pretty long wait times before someone stops by the table or drops off a check. Never been a huge deal, though.

Came here with our dog for dinner when we stopped in town on our way to Colorado. The patio was very nice and didn’t feel like you were right on the road with the set they had and the server was great. The kitchen was behind since it was packed inside but the spinach artichoke dip was amazing and our sandwiches were good. They had a good variety of beers as well

This was such a fun night! The only reason I give it four and not five stars is that the normal person leading trivia couldn’t make it for some reason and the stand-in lady seemed a little shakey on how to conduct a trivia night… maybe I’m just bitter because team Unilocal didn’t win… Anyway, the night was a TON of fun! Trivia, appetizers, and drinks on Unilocal with friends? YESPLEASE. Can’t wait for the next CAYE, I hope this is something that happens on a regular basis!

Great trivia night! I love this bar. It is my favorite spot in the LBK to grab a drink and catch up. A group of Unilocalers and I went to play trivia here last Thursday. Unilocal got our first drink and some appetizers. I had never had their food before and man did it not disappoint. It wasn’t gross bar food, it was fresh food that actually didn’t taste like it was clogging my arteries immediately. The trivia isn’t Geeks who Drink, it was fun to experience trivia that wasn’t. I love Geeks who Drink too, but it was nice to have a low key unorganized and goofy trivia time. The questions were really great and our host did a fabulous job, even though she was filling in for her friend. We were the« Unilocalaholics» and we were busy having fun so we got 11th. Playing is winning though right? The atmosphere here is perfect. You can actually hear each other and can tell they keep the place nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and attended to our larger table with no mistakes. I would defiantely want to have another event here soon!

Large selection of craft beer on tap, great food, and wonderful service. I’ve never had a bad experience at the Lantern Tavern. Great place to go if you’re not into the typical college town bar scene.

I AGREEWITHTHEMAJORITY-GREATBAR! Always friendly bartender who knows his beer and spirits. Clubby atmosphere, chubby servers(can’t have everything!), really good menu– lots and lots of choices, and very good bar type food. Outside seating is great option for smokers or anyone. Dog lovers are welcome with Fido outside too. What’s not to like!!!

This event was SOMUCHFUN. It was a much needed break from a busy week. I’ve never gone to a trivia night and so I didn’t know what to expect. It was SOMUCHFUN. Even though the ‘yelpaholics’ may have come in(almost) last place… we had fun while we were doing it. The drinks were good and since we were among the first to arrive, Unilocal treated us! So nice! Our community ambassador, Chelsea, suggested a new drink I’ve never tried. A French 75(normal made with in but Chelsea and I chose to use Tito’s vodka instead). So it was vodka, champagne, and lemon. So yummy and served in a martini glass which made me feel very classy! We got some Unilocal!swag too!!! Buttons, chapstick, and best of all… pint glasses! So cool! I loved getting to know others in the Unilocal!community of Lubbock. Chelsea is doing such a great job and I can’t wait for the next hang out so I can meet more Unilocalers!

The Lantern is my go-to bar in town for five reasons: great beer selection, good food, great service, minimal number of undergrads, and no-smoke. They have something like a dozen beers on tap, and they’re almost all solid craft brews(plus Shiner of course). The food is much better than typical bar food. The chicken and waffles are the best I’ve had in town, and might even be the best chicken-finger variety I’ve had anywhere(the superior incarnations I’ve encountered all use bone-in chicken and reside in either LA or the Atlanta). The burgers are pretty solid, though they would better if they offered the option to cook them medium rather than well-done. They’re one of the few places in town that serves white queso as opposed to yellow, and having moved here from Florida I really enjoy being able to get queso non-Tex-Mex style. The pizzas are pretty good too — not pizzeria good, but definitely better than what you would expect from a bar. The atmosphere is more chill than most of the bars you’ll find near campus, which is nice if like me your college days are behind you. The smoke-free policy is plus for a nonsmoker like me, but there’s also a really nice patio area for those who like a cigarette with their beer. Basically, if you want a great beer selection, good food, and a «mature» atmosphere, you can’t beat the Lantern.

These people are on my you-know-what list! My pet peeve is restaurants and/or bars being out of stuff. Well, these losers managed to be out of darn near everything I asked for. They had no iced tea or lemonade and every special alcoholic drink on their menu had one or the other, so that menu was worthless. However, they did have a green chile burger that was good so it wasn’t a total loss. The bar itself is nice, they just need to learn how to keep stuff in stock.

This is just an average bar. The quality of food served is very less and your final bill comes high. Been there once and never returned back. What I will do in future I will keep updating.

The lantern is a great spot to hang out with friends and enjoy a cocktail… or two. They have a great Christmas lights area outside that is perfect for Lubbock summer nights. I have never had their food, but from afar it looked like your typical bar food. I got a delicious cucumber chilton for only $ 6! It was very light and refreshing.

Great place for a variety of food options! We came here because we were traveling with our small dog and they are one of few dog-friendly restaurants in Lubbock! Good for you Lantern Tavern! Nice patio area. Menu options are diverse and good. Would have been 5 stars but I felf drinks were watered down. I stuck with wine :) All in all a very good venue. If, and when, we visit Lubbock again, we will hit this spot!

Decent beer and liquor selection for Lubbock Texas. Atmosphere was dark and bar inviting. Dark seats and an open bar area. Good was typical bar food. We had the meatballs in lemon sauce and the meatballs were obviously frozen but the sauce and crispy crostinis were very good and garlicky. I had a french dip and the bread could have been toasted. The meat tasted very good and the cheese was melted. Loved the au jus and horseradish sauce. I cannot for the life of me remember what my husband got but he absolutely loved it. All and all not a bad place to go for sure!

Definitely a great spot to grab a drink with friends. We came for dinner. It was packed but no wait on a Friday night. Food times were a little slow but the burgers and pizza were great and the server was very attentive and friendly.

I have to say, the service is decent, nice atmosphere to just sit and hang out with friends after work over a few beers, etc. However, this would be the THIRD time within the last year in which additional tip gets added to my check. Two of the times I tipped leaving cash on the table in addition to leaving a tip using my credit card, thinking it would be nice for the waitress to have cash immediately. But it’s frustrating when an additional tip gets added to my bill when I have my receipt that states otherwise… one of those days the total«tip» I gave turned out to be 35−40%… Most people may not catch a few bucks here and there, but I keep all my receipts and reconcile my expenses every week. I enjoy this place, but it really is VERY irritating when I have to worry whether the bill would be correct or if my check gets added additional/altered tip, especially if I tip via cash but additional tip gets added on my credit card… ALSO, I’m pretty sure that’s considered fraud. I may need to start taking photographs of my receipts here… or just always pay in cash…

The food was great. Had the black bean dip. Spicy so watch out. Also had the cheese sticks and the hubby said they were great several times. Hubby had the chicken and waffles and it was really good. Decent beer selection. Had a cider on tap for me so that was nice. Great service even though she had just started and was on her own. Not really busy. Nice environment. We will definitely go back to keep trying different things on the menu. It is about mid range on price. Not cheap, but not expensive. Oh! They have a nice outdoor patio too! Highly reccomend!

I’m only reviewing this based on its lack of wifi. Bartender said wifi was not for the public. No wifi access means no attention to details, lack of competitive spirit, and a business that is out of touch with pub trends. I haven’t tried the food or beers.

Pretty decent beer selection, above average bar food. Wish I could say the local brew, Wicked Beaver, was worth drinking, but I had the bartender pour it out because it tasted like the keg was corked(which doesn’t really happen, so that’s how bad it was). I’ve never poured out a draft beer until I got WB, and it isn’t the bar’s fault. Watch out though — hanging out here long enough will make you want to do shots! :)

I like this place. It’s non-smoking. The food is good– those mozzarella sticks are super tasty but man, could they have better happy hour prices for drinks or something? The beer selection is good but it isn’t cheap. And honestly for the zero ambience you get out of this place I’d rather pay that much for a beer that’s half priced.

The Lantern is great. It’s non-smoking, which is surprisingly unusual here in Lubbock for a beer place. I really appreciate that, and would remain a customer solely for that reason. On top of not including cancer with your beverage or food selection, their draft choices are decent and their food is good. Plus, they have a GREAT patio when the weather is nice. The indoor atmosphere is nice too, especially when they have some live music going(that has never been too in-your-face; it’s a medium/small place). Seems like it has a great mix of clientele, maybe leaning more to the young professional crowd. My only complaint is that they don’t open until 4pm. Many early weekend afternoons my husband and I are looking for a nice cold beer on a patio, and we are always disappointed the Lantern is closed. :-(
