The Combes Family Inn Bed and Breakfast is a True FAMILY Inn Situated on a Quiet Country Back Road in the Heart of Vermont.
History
Established in 1880.
In 1976, Ruth and Bill Combes their search for an inn in the country away from the fast growing pace of life in Merrimack, New Hampshire. Bill, a production planner for J.F. McElwain Shoe Company was ready for a career change. What they had in mind was peace and quiet, clean air, trees, hills and lots of land to raise their 3 children ages 10, 11, and 12. They were looking for a place where they could settle. They discovered what is now the Combes Family Inn, just a few miles north of the town of Ludlow above Lake Rescue. The place had 50 acres of land and an old farm house, nestled into the hills, with a fine view of Okemo Mountain. From a series of pictures they documented their progress. It is hard to believe the present inn is that same farmhouse. What they envisioned was a place for families, where people could get away from it all and experience an inn with a homey ambiance, good food, friendly innkeepers, and picturesque setting.
