The Barking Lot

What a gem! Fran, the owner, is beyond precious and truly cares about the dogs. I have a deaf, crazy dog whom I rarely board. Fran has gone above and beyond. I call once a day to check in my dog and she is more than willing to talk to me and update me on my sweet dog. This place is exactly what a kennel should be. Thank you!

I had to leave my doggies (Stewie and Ava – who I consider my babies) while I was away on vacation recently, and was so glad that I entrusted them to The Barking Lot. Not only was Fran and her team extremely friendly and kind, but I felt like I was leaving my babies with family. ;) I was extremely appreciative that she shared photo’s of my dogs on facebook so I could see them while I was traveling and when I picked them up, they were very happy to see us but I could also tell they were happy to have been in their company. that’s exactly the kind of feeling you want to have when you board your dogs. I would definitely recommend The Barking Lot and would use them again.

Our furbaby Zeus loves staying here and we love to see our pup happy when we come to pick him up. We are so thankful that Zeus has a home away from home that we trust. The ladies at The Barking Lot are so great with him and he is looking forward to his Thanksgiving stay!

In 2010 we started boarding our dog, Annabelle, at The Barking Lot. Understandably, we were nervous when we learned the business was sold to new owners in 2014. The new owners have put their mark on the business — and it is wonderful! Improvements include: a new logo, updated website, better hours, pictures taken and posted regularly to Facebook. Also, what I call «economical» changes: «take home» bath option, daycare rate charged for after 12 noon on pick up day. (Previously charged full boarding rate for pick up after 12 noon.). We adopted a second dog, Macie, and chose to pay for both dogs to have their own run. (We were not sure how our older dog would take to sharing a run.). When we went to pick up they told us both dogs would seek each other out and would do well in the same run. So next time, it will actually save us money to board dogs together in same run. The owners hardwork and compassion towards the animals shines through in their business. They have maintained the same boarding rate… among the best/​economical in Tampa. We continue to board our dogs here — knowing they are well cared for and loved.

My dogs love this place, and so do I! The owners are so compassionate, you can tell they care about each and every guest. Pictures are uploaded daily to their Facebook account, so I could see how much fun my dogs were having. I love how they don’t mix dogs from different families during playtime, so there are no misunderstandings between the pups. Last, but not least, I couldn’t ask for better prices. If you have to board your dogs, or need doggy daycare, this is truly the best place with the best people to care for you pets!

We stopped at The Barking Lot on a recent trip to Tampa. Our dogs loved their visit. It was clean and so much outdoor space for them to roam around and explore. The ladies there were really nice and we could tell they love animals. We’ll definitely bring our dogs there on our next visit.

We LOVE The Barking Lot!
I am Bugsy a four year old, 60 pound, shepherd/​boxer mix. We recently moved here from the Midwest and my parents were VERY nervous about finding a new grooming and boarding facility for, my sister, Bella and I.
Our initial baths and nail trimmings were at the vet since we needed to go there anyway to get our new county rabies tags. Everything went fine the first time. But when mom and dad took us there a second time to get our nails trimmed they were told that my nails couldn’t be trimmed because I was too hyper and I would need to be sedated for future nail trimmings.
Admittedly I am pretty anxious and rambunctious. However I have never had to be sedated in the past and my parents really weren’t fond of the whole sedation thing. So after some research our parents decided to try The Barking Lot.
Mom told them what the vet said about sedating me and she explained that as Bella gets older her coat seems to be getting a yucky film, she sheds a lot more, and has very bad dandruff. They said they would let her know how I was during my nail trim to see if sedation was really necessary and suggested a special bath for Bella.
Oh my goodness! The Barking Lot totally exceeded our expectations. We have been there 3 times over the last 2 ½ months. Our parents, Bella and I have been absolutely THRILLED each time.
When Mom and Dad drop us off and pick us up they can tell we are super happy and comfortable at The Barking Lot. Felisha is so patient with me and is able to trim my nails without my having to be sedated. After Bella’s first bath mom immediately noticed a huge improvement in her coat. It was very shiny and silky smooth just like it was when she was younger (Bella’s coat was still beautiful 6 weeks later when she went for her next bath). Mom asked if they had some of that miracle stuff for her too… LOL.
When mom and dad saw our good Pawgress Reports, after our last baths, we got extra special treats. YUMMY!!! They also promised that Bella and I get to stay at The Barking Lot when they go on vacation! YIPPIE, we can’t wait!
Thank you so much Barking Lot for being so patient with me, making my sister’s coat stunning again, and putting my neurotic parents at ease with our grooming and boarding needs. You’re the best!

We have a senior boxer who is, in a word, just weird, and a feisty little cairn-​mix mutt. They are bonded homebodies who are most content to be home with their people, and we needed to kennel them for seven days. They did GREAT at Barking Lot. They got to be kept together, and they ate and played well the whole time. I really appreciated how kind, friendly yet professional the staff is. They invited us to call anytime to check on our dogs, and we did and got a very detailed report on how the dogs were doing. This will absolutely be our dogs’ new home away from home when we travel!

My husband and I travel often and we were concerned about leaving our young dog for the first time. I called «The Barking Lot» and requested a tour, I was very welcomed and felt «The Barking Lot» would be the perfect place for him. He loved going there and now when we pull up in front to drop him off he can’t wait to get out of the car! He gets plenty of exercise and socializing which he loves.
Our dog had a health problem during one of our trips and Laura was wonderful! We couldn’t get home so she took him to our vet and kept us informed of his progress, she took care of him as if he were her own dog. I can’t say enough about «The Barking Lot».

There are only Great things to say about The Barking Lot. The friendly staff are always willing to answer any questions and are very knowledgeable about many topics, and the facilities are very clean and well-​kept. It was very important for us to find a place where the dogs were allowed out more than for bathroom breaks and most importantly, where the dogs enjoy. We love the outdoor space where the dogs can run and play! We have only had the best experiences taking our dogs to The Barking Lot, both for boarding and grooming!

I don’t leave my dogs ANYWHERE… BUT, I had to! My husband & I went to Puerto Rico and were gone about 8 days — I had a tough time leaving my Yorkie and Lab, but the folks here understood and really put me at ease. The facility is perfect for what they do! We came home to happy to see us… but perfectly content pups! Thank you to the staff at The Barking Lot!!! We have since boarded them here again with the same results and will be dropping them off again tomorrow for the weekend; what a relief to know we don’t need to worry when we are away from them.
