I visited my Dr in the same building as the bank and as my husband and I was waiting for our son to pick us up. A bank employee came and asked us why are we hanging around the area and it was reported that we were drinking alcohol. The bank manager later joined in and endorsed what the employee said by saying «yes it was reported that you were drinking » .
I told her that is impossible because we were not even drinking water. She said you were drinking.
We are African Americans and it was obvious that we made them uncomfortable.
I would never bank with this bank and I will do my best to make it known to as many people how we were treated by this bank… racist,

Everybody is so nice and helpful and they even know me by my name. How cool is that!!!
Denise the branch manager is very friendly and she’s alway there for me when I need anything. Lorena and the rest of the staff are fantastic, the thing I like the most is that they actually treat you like people and no like dollar signs like other banks do. Their customer service is efficient and in my opinion this is the most reliable place to put your money into.

I wouldn’t recommend this bank if you are under 65 years of age. Their technology is basically non-​existent. Astoria Federal bank is catered specifically for cadavers. They make nothing easy for the customer. They actually need to pull the paper signature card for most transactions which is ridiculous!!! None of their records are in an online database. Having my money in this bank (not this branch in particular, because the staff here is actually very nice — but in general) made my life hell through out the entire house buying process because every document I needed, I couldn’t just log in and print out like every other bank out there, I had to call and request by phone and wait 7 – 10 business days and get charged $ 5 per document when my husband’s bank would let him just log into his account online and print. What a nightmare. Needless to say, my account here is now closed.
