I have eaten at Mikado for many years and have been recently TOTALLYGROSSEDOUT… we were escorted to the table closest to the door… ordered our meal, when all of a sudden the waitress scurries over nervously and says we have to move to the next table she proceeds to move our soup and silverware, etc… and we notice black fuzzies almost like heavy black dust balls on the table that we had moved from(ITSEEMSTHEYHADJUSTPUTONTHEAIRCONDITIONING) OBVIUUSLY they neglected to clean or replace the filter… our food arrived and we started to eat when we noticed the other table was covered with those black things and they were now blowing on our table… i immediately called over the waitress and quietly showed her the filth on the next table as well as our table, she pushed it off of our table with her palm… i tolh her i Could NOTEATTHEFOOD. I work down the block and i have been ordering lunch from Mikados for years. My usual go to are the Chirashi or the 2 – 3 rolls lunch special. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, the food is plentiful and quality is fresh. They also do a stellar job at packaging the food and extremely attentive in providing all the condiments when delivering. Today, I ordered the nabeyaki udon and a spicy salmon roll. The udon was stuffed to the rim with goodness and they were kind enough to give me an extra container of udon broth in case i wanted to top off myself… and they gave me a small container of chili powder. Very considerate people at this restaurant.

Fantastic lunch specials. As a budget conscious student, this satisfies both my wallet and desire for healthy options. Bento box comes with a California roll. I usually get an avocado roll. I sometimes get the seaweed salad or try another lunch special. Tasty salmon teriyaki and tempura, fresh basic rolls. Cute, not pretentious, nice place to sit down with a friend to catch up over a good meal, or a reasonably priced quiet meal — to enjoy solo. Peaceful, simple décor, and great food.

A friend of mine turned me on to Mikado a few years ago. The restaurant itself is quite small but the food is top notch! I order from here at least once a week. The sushi is always super fresh and tasty. They have the best spicy tuna roll I’ve ever tasted. I’d strongly recommend taking advantage of their amazing lunch specials!

We have been going to this place since it opened up. You will not find a nicer or more accommodating staff anywhere. The food is always delicious and fresh. Very clean place including the bathroom! If the bathroom is clean, you can be sure that the kitchen is also clean! The whole family loves to go here and if we can’t make it, we get the food delivered to our house. Love, love this place. They have seen our children grow up!

I found this neighborhood gem about 1 year ago, and I’ve been coming here probably once a month. I always order the spicy salmon roll and the Nabeyaki Udon. Their spicy salmon roll has been one of the best I’ve had so far. Their fish is always fresh. The Nabeyaki Udon is to die for. Their shrimp tempura in that dish is light and crispy. The udon is so delicious that I finish every sip of soup in that large bowl. I love dining in rather than taking out because at the end of the meal, they give us a plate of fresh and always sweet fruits. I never leave restaurant without having dessert. Highly recommend their red bean ice cream! The waiters are always friendly and very prompt with service. This place makes a good spot for date night because it’s usually not too crowded and you can hear what each other are saying. Will be back soon!

I have been coming here for at least three years. The place is always clean, service is friendly. As others said, the lunch special is fresh and tasty. Great sushi at an even better price! I always leave room for the fried ice cream, if you can… Treat yourself!

I feel as if I owe this spot an updated review. The sushi that I ordered the first time wasn’t horrible, but it just tasted very bland to me. However, that didn’t stop me from trying more items on their menu. Yesterday I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento lunch box, which totaled a little over $ 10 after tax. The lunch bento box comes with a side salad, which this time looked very fresh. It comes with a side miso soup, pork gyoza(you can get shumai or another dumpling that they offer), rice, and a california roll. There was so much food for just $ 10, I had to save some of the food for dinner. Will definitely keep ordering from here, happy I came back.

Mikado… a small sushi restaurant in Lynbrook. It’s pretty good either take out or dine in. I had plenty of their sushi during my time in Lynbrook. I like how they perfectly serve and cook the shrimp tempura and the soft shell crab, not an easy feat.

Good japanese food! Great discovery when I started to work around lynbrook. The food is cooked to perfect and the service is quick and efficient. My go to items on the menu are the unagi don and the salmon teriyaki. Both are cooked very nicely and quite tasty and the sushi is nicely done and flavored. They had a good amount of items on their menu. The udon is pretty flavorful and nicely done. The hand rolls are also really good. They pack in a good amount of the filling so it is pretty tasty. The seafood soup is amazing! It is very flavorful. The seafood salad is super packed with goodness. You get a lot of seafood in the salad. I come here often and am never disappointed with the food. The atmosphere is quiet with a nice asian design in the color scheme. I would warn you the price is isn’t cheap. When one goes to a japanese place the sushi should be good but they have to also make their other entrees well. It is done well. Some people only look at the sushi but it is much more than that. Usually I am more critical about specific things like sushi only if the restuarant is specifically specialized in it. Also with ramen.

Had the Mikado Seafood Bentonville Box and was not disappointed. Salmon was cooked just right. Succulent scallops and lobster tail. Great polite and pleasant staff. Tasted someone else’s eel, and another’s beef. Everything was delicious and fresh. The eel was the right price too. Under 14 bucks.

These small sushi shops are all the same. Same rolls that all taste the same. Yeah, Mikado has«special» rolls for under $ 10. But the price is reflected in the size of the roll. Same size as any basic roll. I had the Sweetheart Roll and the Manhattan Roll. Like I said, after a few bites, they both tasted similar. This is caused by minimal fish and lots of rice and sauce.

I’ve gone here a couple times to eat-in and have had good meals. The atmosphere is actually pretty cozy and quiet considering it’s in a small strip mall right on Merrick road. Service was attentive. The salmon and tuna sashimi tasted fresh and they make a good bowl of udon. The place is pretty small so I’d recommend to go during the week when it’s quieter instead of on the weekend so you don’t have to deal with the crowds.

We came for udon and wasn’t disappointed. Slow Monday night, small place but quiet easy atmosphere. I had the udon soup that came with tempura – tasty and filling. I hate parking in that area but we’ll be back with more friends!

First off, I’m going to say this extremely low rating is comprised of terrible service and sub-par sushi. My family and I chose to eat at Mikado without any recommendations besides that of Unilocal. We normally get take-out from Edo Sushi around the corner(which I suggest you do). But tonight we decided we wanted to dine in, so we opted for a larger Japanese/sushi bar restaurant. We dined on a night that was not busy by any means. We walked right in and sat down on a Friday night at 8pm on Valentine’s day. Upon entering the restaurant, we did not receive a greeting from the hostess who didn’t care that we walked in from the cold, and without any sign of courtesy. Pointed to a table. From that point I was ready to leave, because I was not in the mood to spend $ 100 for shitty service. But I gave the hostess the benefit of the doubt. I order hot water and ice water for everyone plus wine for my lover and I. Every time the hostess/waitress came to out table… She graced us with her shitty attitude. I tried to hold my composure because maybe I was being a bitch… Then the food came. We ordered five different rolls and the best one was the California Roll. Now for anyone who is a sushi connoisseur, knows that everything else should be 10x more epic than a frickin California roll!!! Plus I ordered from the specialty menu. I refused to eat any of this food. But I still paid and gave a generous tip(because I’m not that much of a bitch!) PLEASEAVOIDTHISRESTAURANT!!! And spend your money else where, where it will be appreciated and respected. Bön appétit

Short review for an equally short interaction and experience: I adore Mikado’s décor with it’s fresh looking bamboo and silk plant life flowing through. It may be no bigger than a Nike shoe box but it’s helluva’ cozy and cute. Friendly staff, all smiles when I ordered. I tested the waters and opted for yellow tail and eel avocado rolls with some miso soup. The yellow tail was nice and mild, while the eel avocado was unusually fishy tasting. Hmpf. The miso was pretty standard. Sushi chefs didn’t wear gloves. Don’t know if something like that is regulated or not.

Nobly, I have recently been featured in the« Unilocal’s Sushi By The Sea» Weekly Unilocal Long Island edition, boasting about my fine sushi experiences. I love it. I love sushi. Raw, cooked, you name it. My mouth has encountered those OMGJUSTSWALLOWIT moments. Never at Mikado though. Mikado is my new sushi go-to place. I love dining in here. You are always greeted with a smile and seated quickly. It is small inside, but personally, I have never had a seating issue. When you sit, its like entering a bamboo jungle. Ivy interlaces the bamboo walls and ceilings. Once alive, now shellacked, fish adorn the walls. The sushi chefs work their magical fingers in the corner, and construct the beautiful rolls. You are always presented with a fragrant, lemony towel to cleanse your hands. Sweet! After studying the extensive menu, my eyes always dart to the«specials.» Three rolls, soup and salad. They are per-decided rolls in the specials, but if you want to substitute one, it is like $ 1.50 additional. Not bad to please your palate! I always get the special with California, Eel and Salmon Skin. I substitute because I don’t like tuna. The salad has amazing dressing — spicy but not gritty. Soup is also great. I despise scallions(ewe in my mouth,) so you can specify that if you don’t want it! Cool beans! Last time we came here, Mom got the Chicken Bento Box. WOW! Now that is a ton of food! It is like a sampling of every protein. Don’t be fooled by the name. You get a chicken, beef AND seafood(shrimp) along with a veg. She was so stuffed so she shared with me. I was glad to oblige. Professional spread of chicken beef and seafood ANDSOME Tempora is def. in the mix. I overlooked this place for years. I am so glad we stumbled upon it though!
