Judging from some of the comments by other patrons, we must not have been served what they were eating. We are actually going to take our experience up with the Nassau county department of health, as we were served sushi that was somehow extremely sour, had to spit out, and was discolored because it was rotten. Not sure what the story is, but the authorities will get to the bottom of it. Not sure if the rest who have given this place good reviews are familiar with what healthy sushi looks like, but this place is serving poison, FYI.

Appears to be a family owned and operated Hibachi joint. Three communal Hibachi tables dominate the worn and weary décor. All of the staff were friendly and the service was on point. And the food was good. Two stars due to the worn and weary décor and the Men’s room doubling as a storage closet.

I have been coming here forever, pretty much ever since they first opened. In fact, I was here just last night to pick up take-out. The service is always very nice and friendly. Their hibachi is also always very good.

Was back in Lynbrook so we stopped into Osaka for some Japanese. My kids had the hibachi and it was very good. Hibachi steak is their favorite. Although we ordered the kids hibachi steak, the quality and taste was as good as any adult entrée — just a kid sized portion. It was delicious. My wife and I had some sashimi and sushi rolls. The volcano roll was very good and I recommend it. The spicy crunchy tuna is one of my favorites too. The restaurant was recently refurbished with new carpeting and looked nice. The service was very good and friendly. One of the best spots for sushi on the south shore.

This place is very good. They are a bit pricey though compared to other Japanese places in the area. Their fried rice is great, and the teriyaki beef is also very good. Would definitely recommend.

Yoshi is THEMAN! Fresh fish, great service with a smile, and exciting specialty rolls. I highly recommend Tuna Tataki, the Chirachi, and all bento boxes. By the way — the Hibachi is great too! Showy and delicious. Watch out for the wasabi shumai — it’ll get ya!

if i want sushi i pick osaka every time! I’ve tried almost everything they have and a few things not on the menu. I would eat there every day of i could. If you want a roll I’d suggest anything off of the specials board! My favorite is defiantly the new horizon roll(avocado, cucumber, salmon and tuna wrapped in white seaweed, rice in). Second would be the Osaka special roll(avocado, tuna, cucumber with spicy tuna on top of the roll). The spicy mayo that they put in the rolls help set them apart. The hibachi is really good. Can’t beat the fried rice. They serve a better house saki then most sushi places I’ve been to(better bring a DD). If you want a hot meal but don’t want hibachi go for teriyaki anything! It is a much lighter sauce then most places and it taste amazing. I usually go for the teriyaki beef. They have recently updated the place to, much nicer. If you stop in say hi to Yoshi for me, he’s the man!

Yoshi makes the best sushi I’ve ever had in New York. New York Roll, Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll, etc. If you don’t like Yoshi or his sushi, go to a doctor and make sure your taste buds are still working.

I ordered a few rolls to take out, brought it home and while it tasted ok it was presented so sloppy in a styrofoam container. All of the rolls were falling apart. Our tuna avacado roll had only avacado in one of the pieces. I’ve never seen such sloppy sushi rolls. I could understand maybe if they were busy, but we were the only order they had. The spicy yellowtail tasted a little fishy, otherwise wasn’t horrible. We will not be going back there for takeout. There are plenty of other places in the area that are better.

Oh how i love Osaka’s sushi! Last night was the first time I actually dined in, but normally I get it to go. Either way it’s just as delicious and just as fresh. I’ve had so many types of rolls: from the basic California roll to a more complex raw eel. It’s all the bomb because Yoshi makes it the best. As he says, and I quote«more sushi, more happy; more Saki, more baby». That brings me to saki… Another thing I admire about Osaka! I’ve never been to a japanese restaurant that sells bottles of saki, actually i dont think ive ever seen a bottle of saki until i entered Osaka for the first time. They sell about 4 or 5 types; only one bottle is $ 29.95 and the rest are $ 19.95. I’ve only purchased the saki in the pretty cloudy blue bottle. It’s great! It’s milky and sweet, and has a wonderful after taste. Back to the sushi now. Last night my girl and I split three rolls– shrimp tempura and two house specials: Sex on the beach and joy monkey. I’m used to shrimp tempura which was great, but the two specials were just amazing. The Sex on the beach consisted of eel tempura, cucumber, and cream cheese. This one might be my new favorite. It’s so unbelievably good. the Joy monkey roll included spicy shrimp on top, ahi tuna, and Yoshi’s special sauce. Another great great choice. Yoshi also hooked us up with a julienned cucumber crab appetizer… so good! I love this place and look forward to trying the hibachi style meals… But first I have to wait until I’m not craving sushi :/. Shrimp tempura

A few years ago, I was a sushi virgin. Then I tried Osaka. Being my first, it now has a special place in my heart. This is a very family owned and oriented restaurant. Yoshi, is the owner/sushi aficionado. He is always with a smile, greeting the customers behind his sushi station. He always recognizes my mom and I and says«Long time no see!» His wife and children are wait staff, and deliver the food and beverages to the tables. Through the years, I have seen Yoshi’s kids grow, along with the business. This place has something for everyone. They have three large hibachi tables where a chef puts on a show with food, interacting with the customers. Its fun to watch but I like my usual table. There are about five or six tables and also seating at the sushi bar. The décor is nothing impressive but there is a wall with Polaroid photos of customers at the restaurant. These were taken in Osaka’s early years. Its cute to look at, although they are quite faded by now. There are also some hand drawings(I assume done by Yoshi’s kids.) I have never needed to make a reservation for dinner as the place is rarely packed. I do notice a lot of take out orders being picked up. The offer many Japanese beers and the hot saki is my favorite. Being frequent customers and rarely changing our selections, Yoshi knows our orders by heart. You get a complimentary appetizer of crabstick, cucumber in ginger vinegar dressing with sesame seeds. It is so yum! I could eat that all day. My Mom always orders the Spicy Maki combo which consists of spicy California, Salmon and Tuna rolls. You get your choice of soup or salad with this dish. I usually get the Winter sushi roll which is eel, crabmeat, avocado and cucumber, drizzled with a sauce. My other favorite is the Salmon Skin roll which is crispy salmon skin and cucumber also drizzled with a sauce. Each piece is presented beautifully on a wooden butcher block with pickled ginger and fresh wasabi. I have ordered other rolls as well, but nothing has tickled my fancy like my two favorites. The Lobster roll was«lobster tail»(it didn’t taste like lobster at all,) with cucumber and masago. I have learned I don’t like masago, so I stay away from that. The meal is finished off with orange slices to refresh the palette. The prices are very reasonable. Individual sushi rolls range from $ 4 to $ 12. Combos are a bit more but well worth it. Love this place, always and forever!

It was completely empty when me and my friend arrived, that means full on attention from the waitress! Or at least that was my thought. The lady arrived in about a few minutes after we sat down and much later with the water. Together we tried the: Edamame — that was really good! They warmed it up and had a dash of salt to taste! Spicy tuna /dragon roll — the rolls were loosely wrapped so that was hard to pick up with the chop sticks but they were good! Not the best sushi but not the worst. I survived! I liked the display of the sushi, they put it on a wooden board so it gives a earthy feel. Those who own the resturant are sweet but I had a little payment trouble when they didn’t understand how much I wanted to charge on my card and it was very frustrating.

Wonderful place for a nice and personal date. The place is nice and small and gives off a cozy vibe. The hibachi chef is hilarious and always makes me and my girlfriend laugh and enjoy our dinner. The rest of the staff are very attentive and friendly, always asking to make sure you’re enjoying your good. The hibachi is good and so is the sushi. The portions are big, so you can either go with an empty stomach preparing to eat a lot or save some for left overs.
