There are few things I dread more in life than going dress shopping with my mother. But I can honestly say the staff at White House Black Market made a recent shopping trip a really fun excursion.
Mom and I dropped in on a Sunday afternoon to find a dress for her to wear to my step sister’s wedding. I was hell bent on preventing her from wearing an awful stereotypical «mother of the bride» dress and I knew that WHBM would have some age and body appropriate dresses for my mom. Dresses can be a little pricey there for my thrifty mother’s tastes, but… the sales staff was so warm and encouraging, they were able to make my mom look and feel like a million bucks without actually spending that much. I really appreciated how nice and complimentary everyone was and how they really put my mom at ease and made her look even more beautiful than she already does. I’ll definitely be heading there the next time I need a nice dress for an event!

One of my go-​to places for shopping, I always find stuff in this store! Got their new spring catalogue in the mail a couple of weeks ago and found a bunch of cute dresses and tops that I wanted to go and try on. As always, the store has a bunch of sizes (from tiny up to size 16) for you to try on. It’s very rare that they run out of the popular sizes unless they’re at the end of the season.
The saleswomen at this location are fantastic and they constantly come in the dressing area to ask how you are doing and to see if they can get you any other sizes. I especially like the fact that they suggest different accessories (belt, shrugs, jackets) for each outfit and they have low-​heeled shoes for you to wear when you try on your outfits in case you happen to be in winter boots or running shoes like I usually am!
As the name states, they carry white, neutral and black stuff… but it’s all clothes that you can mix and match with more colorful stuff from other places if you like that pop of color in your wardrobe.
The cuts of the clothes are very flattering for all kinds of different body types and ages. I’ve seen everyone from tiny girls to «Rubinesque» ladies, from teenagers to grandmothers walk out of this store with something in hand that they were excited to wear. If you’re looking for well-​made, beautiful clothes that will see themselves through many seasons (because all of their styles are classic and won’t date themselves) go over here and try some stuff on!
