Opal Creek Forest Center is actually in the «ghost» town of Jawbone Flats, OR. A completely off-​the-​grid town, the center exits solely for education, research, and preservation purposes pertaining to the Opal Creek Wilderness area.
This center, though in the middle of nowhere, is quite happenin’. They offer not only cabin rentals, but also multi-​day workshops galore. Prices are fairly reasonable, as well. Staff is very friendly.
Anyone who takes on the Opal Creek Trail cannot miss this place. When you hit the fork in the road, stay on the main road. To get to Opal Pool, take a left at the Pelton Shed in Jawbone.
