Stopped here on a road trip for a quick bite to eat. It’s right off of the highway which is very convenient. Since they stop serving breakfast at 2pm and they were out of falafel, there weren’t too many lunch options(although the smoothie menu did look really good). I had the salmon salad panini, which came with spinach and provolone. It was inexpensive and tasty but the portion was kind of small. The paninis we ordered could have been more browned/grilled, but I guess they were trying to give us quick service. A few hours after eating here I felt sick to my stomach. I don’t know if it was the spinach, the salmon salad, or something else, but I guess that’s one of the risks of eating in an isolated area. Although I enjoyed eating on the covered porch and watching the traffic go by, the interior of the store is very cute. They sell a variety of snacks, candy, pet supplies, and local art. The Route 11 sweet potato chips we picked up were really good. They were also baking fresh chocolate chip cookies when we walked in! This wasn’t bad for a road trip stop, but I was expecting better based on the positive reviews.

This really is a 5 star place. Total hole in the wall gem. Great selection of yummy sandwiches. Real food. Proper latte. Homemade fresh bakery items. Eclectic selection of chips and sodas. A surprisingly large selection of dog paraphernalia — they’re dog lovers which is a good sign.

I am road trip-ing with friends, on our adventure I thought I was out of luck with my «food preferences«. I don’t have Allergies, but high intolerances. By chance I saw very high rated reviews for a local hole on the wall place. It was wonderful to happen to find catering cafes for my issues. Gf bagel was the cherry on the dairy free sundae ! Thank you Virginia, I am now a lover! Cheers!

My wife and I have lived on the Eastern Shore for a little over a year and have driven by this place without giving it a try… We stopped last week and are so happy we did! Great coffee, amazing breakfast burritos, wonderful service! Stop and check them out!

I wasn’t impressed, and I’m a walking distance from it. It’s not on the top of our list, as there’s far better places to go than here. It’s great for seafood, but mediocre aside from that. I’m also not too fond of the live music, depending on who is there. It has a nice atmosphere for a mom and pop shop.

Here’s another book not to judge by it’s cover. We’re driving home from the beach, and start hearing lots of hunger grumblings… Unilocal to the rescue. We pulled over based on the Unilocal rating, but then upon exterior inspection, half the crowd was ready to keep looking. Luckily the youngest among us said«let’s go… Unilocal says it’s good»…and lucky we listened. I went inside, and the menu looked good, and they had a cute seating area off to the side. People in our group of 7 ordered breakfast sandwiches, muffins, and smoothies. Every single one of us was very happy with the result, and they all asked me to write another Unilocal review. Great place, and worth the stop… don’t pass it by like we almost did.

Friend told us about this little gem and thank goodness we stopped! The ambiance, service and smoothie were just outstanding! Will never pass this place again and not stop. Tasted the marsh mud chocolaty home made ice cream but that peach smoothie caught my eye. Wanted to try one of the wraps but holding out for next stop. Love this place!!!

Saw this place as we were headed to the Barrier Islands Center(on the other side of Rt.13). Someone from the center told us to check out the Machipongo Trading Company, and order the«ice cream with the shot of espresso on top» which I did, and holy cow, it may have been the best drink I’ve ever had. Or milkshake. Or coffee float? Totally a coffee float. So delicious! The service was friendly, and I stocked up on some of their dark roast beans before I forced myself to leave before I bought and ate everything in the quaint place. A must-go destination if you are even remotely in the area. No pictures, since I ate it before I could take a picture of it. #sorrynotsorry

We stopped here on our way back from Florida yesterday(3÷8÷15). with a craving for seafood. I read all of the reviews and had to give it a try. So glad we did! The food was delicious and huge! We both had the crab soup. I got the combo seafood platter(crab meat salad and shrimp salad) and my boyfriend had the open face crab meat melt. It was awesome! We also shared a half pound of chilled shrimp! Everything was so relaxed. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back! I’m not sure what our servers name was but she was the only one there(they had someone call out) and wow was she on point!

The first time we stopped at MTC, it was a happy accident. The second time, we delayed our start to arrive when the open at 7. Excellent coffee, yummy breakfast options(including vegetarian), and delicious smoothies. We also enjoy picking up a little Virginia, like crab seasoned peanuts or Route 11 potato chips. There is definitely a core of regulars here and I’m glad they will share their spot with us.

We stopped here for lunch before heading out on a kayak trip. We were a group of 7 an they offered to bag our lunches for the trip but we opted to eat in the shop. I’m from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and was expecting the food to take awhile since so many of us came in at once. The food came out quick and was awesome. The service was so friendly and exactly what you would expect on the Eastern Shore. The store itself is adorable. They sell all sorts if local goods and have nice seating area. It is right off of 13 and a great place to stop while traveling or just to check out. Next time I am headed down this way I will defiantly stop again!

Talk about some tasty sammies in an unexpected location! After multiple locals recommended this coffee shop/market/sandwich shop hybrid, I knew it was gonna be good. And when I saw the 5-star average on Unilocal,I knew it was gonna be good. But when I walked in and saw the craft beer, local food products, and organic snacks, I knew it was gonna be great! And great it was. On our way to a kayak and winery tour, the bf and I called ahead(at the recommendation of our guide) and scooped up sammies to enjoy at the winery. We’ve been in the sharing mood lately, so we opted for the garden veggie wrap and the veggie panini and went halvsies once we paddled our way to the winery. Even over an hour later, both sammies were still delicious. We both agreed that the panini trumped the wrap, but honestly I think that’s in part because it just held up better in the bag. Made with pesto, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach, and provolone, the ingredients were perfect on the fresh and fluffy wheat bread. The pesto was especially flavorful… it would be amazing on pasta! The wrap consists of cream cheese, carrots, cukes, and a few other fresh veggies. Again, very flavorful, and something I would totally order again. This is a definite gem on the Eastern Shore, and it’s not too far from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, either. If you’re headed over for the day, the weekend, or an extended vacay, I totally recommend a stop at Machipongo Trading Company.

A gem in the midst of the Midwest-like plains of the DelMarVa peninsula. excellent coffee that they roast, hummus chips, colombian coffee infused dark chocolate, locally grown and roasted peanuts, and all sorts of other goodies await you in this cozy little place that feels like something one would find in San Francisco rather than the boonies on Route 13. almost a must stop!

Excellent! This doesn’t look like much when you are driving by at 65mph, but if you stop in you’ll be glad that you did! Great coffee and sandwiches. Give them a try. They also have some other small gifts(dog toys, snacks, great t-dye shirts) if you need to pick something up on the way back from your weekend. And freindly!
