History

Established in 1983.

The dam creating Long Branch Lake was completed in the late 1970’s. The creation of the dam controlled the flow of the Long Branch Creek and East Fork of the Little Chariton River. The lake and surrounding property is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers, but a long-term lease was established between the Missouri State Parks and the Corps establishing Long Branch State Park.
