Very unique burger place. The menu is huge. I can’t remember how many times I’ve ate there and still haven’t tried everything. Food is great and staff is friendly.

Amazing burgers. My bacon was under cooked, but it’s ALL good, because everything else was so magical! I can’t wait to visit Madera again, just so I can go there. Thank you Red Onion for your amazing customer service and delicious burger and fries!!! Next time I’m bringing my family!

I go here almost anytime we are in Madera! It’s a mom and pop and I like to support LOCAL businesses, that need the business more than, let’s say Taco Bell! With that said, I wouldn’t continue to support them if the food and drinks weren’t great! Favorite items there: Chocolate Shake, Fried Okra(The BEST I’ve ever had!), Fried Cheese Sticks, Hot Dog, any soda(they use crushed ice, love that!) They are also very nice. :) I hope they stay in business a long time!

Honestly I expected better for a place that has the same rating as Cazadores bar and grill, which imo is one of the best places 2 get Mexican food in madera. So my aquaintance and I ordered chicken sandwiches and fish and chips. Honestly the food was OK at best. The chicken sandwich was very dry, so dry tht I thought they might have mixed up the orders, in fact I had to put so much hot sauce just 2 get any flavor. The fish and chips were ok, albeit a bit oily, but bearable. The fries tasted like fries ud get at a hospital or community college cafeteria. Food tasted like it was ready made, but staff was very friendly and made u feel welcome. I’ve yet 2 try their burgers, but I hope they try to increase the quality of the food. Maybe I’ll give them another chance one day and try their other food. For now, the red onion is at the back of my mind in terms of quality food experience.

The red onion is good but their customer service is horrible. They had messed up on our order once and we went back to get our right order which no big deal they never mess up so I wasn’t mad about that but what really just set me off the rail was the cook called my husband a B word because he said they did the order right. That is the only reason I won’t go back.

Impressed. Looks like an old KFC or something that this guy remodeled into this new place. It was clean, the people were friendly and the food was great. I had the grilled chicken salad and there must have been two chicken breasts on it. The taste was great! Only slight complaint was that the lettuce was shredded and had a hard time getting it on the fork. Otherwise, all was good.

Nothing special about the food. Overpriced and they are stingy on the ranch. I wanted to try a bunch of items so I ordered: #13 Pastrami Sandwich $ 6.89 Medium curly fries $ 1.99 5pc hot wings $ 3.99 8pc fried zucchini $ 2.69 Kids grilled cheese combo $ 3.69 Another med curly fries $ 1.99 5pc cheese sticks $ 3.69 1 small butterfinger swirl $ 2.99 Total was $ 27.92 plus tax $ 2.30= $ 30.22 No ranch was included in my meal so I had to pay $.25 cents per each ranch. The food tasted frozen, the grilled cheese was flat like a piece of paper and tasted like cardboard. Everything else was just«okay». The swirl needed more butterfinger pieces. They were only at the top of the swirl. Not inside. So when you got half way through it’s just plain ice cream. Lady in the drive through window was rude. Drinks are tiny. I was overall disappointed. Especially when I had high hopes for this place…

We found the red onion on Unilocal. It was just 2 miles from interstate. We both had grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken was seasoned. I ate most of my salad without the dressing– I always use dressing!

Red onion is a great place for burgers, salads or fries. The burgers at red onion are delicious. I also like the portion size for the salads. I am impressed at the value I got and the quality of the food. It’s the best burger place in madera for it’s value and quality.

Place has good food! I usually call ahead before we pick up just in case there is a little wait time. I’ve had a few things from here and the only thing I have not liked was the shrimp and fries. Way over cooked and practically no shrimp at all. Fish n chips, bacon cheese burger, chicken sandwich, chili cheese fries and milkshakes are all winners to me.

Nice visit. I had the double bacon cheeseburger with fries. Spoke to the owner and met the staff. They seemed pleasant enough. The food is better than the last time I went there.

Burger was good. Fries where fresh. Clean place. Extensive menu. Shakes and cones look really good! Waited about 10 minutes for my order but it was worth it. They got it right the first time. Definitely a mom and pop place. I’d go back for sure. Show them some love and keep it local!

Tonight I decided to hit the drive thru. I ordered a #5 and a #6 for the hubby. The patty in my burger was extremely thin and dry and the French fries tasted stale and over cooked. I think this will be our last time getting burgers here. :(no wonder burger joints don’t last in Madera… Once they open and build up their clientele they eventually end up getting skimpy just to save a penny.

Food is ALRIGHT. I prefer Carls Jr. Service is pretty bad, and employees don’t really make much of an effort to be pleasant with the customers. Then again, this is Madera and for some reason good service is completely irrelevant to every business here. I can’t blame this place because it’s not like the service anywhere else in this pathetic town is any better. I’ll eat here again, but it’s nothing special. They also used pictures of Dairy Queen ice cream desserts on their menu which I’m pretty sure is illegal. This isn’t Dairy Queen. The dessert you get from them doesn’t even look like the Dairy Queen dessert they show, so I don’t see why they used the pictures in the first place. It’s honestly kind of off putting, like imagine going to Burger King and then just seeing Panda Express food on the menu. It’s definitely a WTF moment. Anyways. That’s all got for this joint.

I’ve never been here before but I Drive by it all the time while working in Madera so finally I gave it a try. At first I was wondering why it was taking so long to make one burger so I parked my car & when inside after ordering from the drive thru. I noticed all the seats were full but still I didn’t think it shouldnt take 5 minutes, this is a fast food restaurant after all. I ordered the big boss burger red onions onion rings, bacon, cheese, lettuce tomato. I was impressed when I received the burger, it looked delicious and tasted even better! I guess them taking a little more time and a little more care putting it all together makes a difference. This burger looks the way it would if there were a commercial on TV about it. «Ill Be Back!»

A few weeks ago I tried a new burger joint on Gateway Drive called Super King Burger. Then this last week I had a slight case of déjà vu when I ate at the Red Onion on Country Club Drive near Avenue 17. When we walked in and looked at the menu and pricing it was very familiar. I ordered the pastrami burger and when I took my first bite I realized that it was exactly like the one I had at Super King Burger. Almost as if both restaurants were using the same suppliers. Thankfully, where ever they get their supplies, they are paying attention to freshness. The building that houses the Red Onion used to house Cece’s Mexican restaurant. Cece’s wasn’t bad, unfortunately they suffered the same fate as so many new restaurants. They just didn’t catch on quickly enough to be able to make it successful, especially in a town with so many Mexican food eateries. The Red Onion has a better chance with the fare they are offering. Traditional hamburgers, fries and milk shakes. Just like the Super King Burger but in a much nicer building. My one negative impression on my first visit was that The Red Onion’s pricing does not seem to have much consistency. The Jalapeño Burger, Bacon Burger and Avocado Burger all cost $ 3.69 ala carte. But when you order them in a combo(large fries and medium drink) they all have different prices from $ 5.99 to $ 5.49 in the combo price. There is no explanation for these price differences and there are several other items on the menu with similar inconsistencies. The Red Onion does offer a drive-up window and the parking lot is well lit. Unfortunately there is no outdoor dining and the inside dining area is a little small. But the place is clean and unlike Super King Burger, the restrooms are inside the restaurant. On the good side, the Red Onion offers a full line of ice cream treats. On the flip side, they will charge you between .35 and .50 for soda refills. The Red Onion is on the outskirts of the city of Madera but worth the drive. The prices are very reasonable for the tasty product you get and would make a nice date night get-away or a quick bite on the way home from work. It’s nice to see all these new burger joints opening up in Madera. It’s a refreshing break from the corporate burger restaurants like McDonald’s, Burger King, Jack in the Box and Carls Jr. Once you’ve had one of these«Independent Burgers» that actually taste as though nothing about them has ever been frozen, you’ll never want to spend your hard earned money on a Big Mac or Whooper again.
