Green Cab

I thought this outfit would be more reliable than the other cab companies in town. Nope. Booked a ride 2 hrs in advance to the airport. Showed up 30 minutes late. I called once after 15 minutes and was told that the cab driver as 5 – 10 minutes away. Called again after 30 minutes. The same dispatcher answered and didn’t remember talking to me. He argued with me. Cab finally shows do up 5 minutes later. Plus the driver was listening to most fucking obnoxious radio possible.

Same old, same old with Green Cab… Great drivers. Nasty, ornery call center staff… They have gotten SLIGHTLY more respectful, but just slightly. They are still rude, disrespectful, unhelpful, untrustworthy and anal 99% of the time. Green Cab, your Unilocal ratings suck, abd fir good reason. What will it take for your management to start respecting gay folks, and customers in general? PS– The owners of this establishment are involved in. politics… And yes, they are conservative. Perhaps that explains their blatant discrimination abd disregard for loyal patrons. Know the full. story people!

Clean cabs and friendly drivers, but they have been between 20 and 30 minutes later than the estimate on the many occasions where I’ve used them. Account for extra time in your travels, especially if you’re heading to the airport.

Reserved a cab the night before to pick up at 7:00am to get me to my GRE. It was 7:15 and I hadn’t heard anything so I called. They were very rude on the phone and told me that it would be another 20 minutes before anyone could get to me, which would be 35 minutes after I reserved it. All they said was «we are pretty busy». Ended up canceling the cab and using an über, which I would have done originally if I had thought ubers would be out that early.

I had a great experience with Green Cab of Madison today after I dropped off my UHaul truck and needed a ride back to my apartment. Dispatch quoted a time of 30 – 35 minutes, but my driver was there within seven. My driver was friendly and easy to talk to, and obeyed the rules of the road (which is not something that always happens with cab drivers.) The price was also reasonable. I will use Green Cab again.

I’ve had plenty of good experiences with Green Cab, but enough bad ones to officially ruin it for me. The main reason I won’t be using this service anymore is because there is no system for notifying me when my cab will be late (past the 15 minute window), and no real assistance from customer service. It just isn’t reliable. I have sat around for 30 to 60 minutes past the 15 minute mark wondering if they had simply decided not to pick me up. Calling is no help because they will just tell you that your driver is about 5 – 10 minutes away and will be there soon. 25 minutes later, there is still no cab. Every time I’ve called wondering where my cab is, whoever answers has just kept saying they’ll be there soon or they’re on their way. They are not helpful and can be very rude. I’ve only had nice drivers, and am sure the problem is simply not enough drivers on the road during busy times, horrible customer service and bad communication.

Great company run by great people. Definitely the fastest and cheapest cab company in the Madison area.

Green cab: where you’re forced to give them a 15 minute window for pickup, and then they show up 15 minutes earlier than that (not a particularly attractive feature when heading to the airport at 5am). Why can’t they have a locator app like Über to be easier to find, and more precise with time estimates? And why can’t the interior of their cars not smell like an ash tray?

As someone who’s eco-​minded but still finds themselves having to use cabs on occasion, Green Cab is my favorite under a very specific set of circumstances.
1) Always schedule rides online at least an hour in advance. Never call — it will be a vague 45-​min wait time if they pick up at all. Their app is usually broken.
2) Direct rides if you have any kind of deadline. The shared service is nice and cheap and more ecological, but I would never risk it if I had somewhere I needed to be… Which is usually.
3) Schedule 15 min earlier than you need them. They will always come at the end of the 15-​minute window.
4) I’ve had zero bad experiences with the drivers, but man, sometimes I miss East Coast cabbies who don’t talk your ear off.
Essentially, Green Cab is the service that makes me feel least like an environment-​killing jerk, but the experience is pretty subpar.

THANK GOODNESS for Green Cab! We initially called Badger Cab, who were BEYOND rude (literally CUSSED at us) and didn’t even bother to confirm they were picking up the right people! Green cab came within the estimated arrival time– and the driver was professional and kind. The ONLY cab I will use from now on.

There is no call they cannot fuck up.

Green cab picked me up this morning, and I just had to write a review after the stellar service I received from Jerry.
First, when I called, they advised me on the time I should request, they were very concerned about having me to my destination in time. I was impressed by that, and I took their advice and scheduled a bit earlier than I would have.
The cab arrived early, but didn’t call, I only knew he was there from peeking out the window. My place can be a bit tricky to find, but the driver came exactly to the spot I’d requested. I came out quickly because I didn’t know how long he would sit there. (He later let me know that he would have waited five minutes before calling, since he was early.)
The driver got out and came around the back of the car when he saw me. I only had a small package, and I said I didn’t need the trunk opened, because I’d carry it with me in the car. He chuckled and explained that he was ‘bringing chivalry back’, and always comes out and opens the car door for ladies, as well as offering his arm when the sidewalk is slippery in winter. That was nice. He later went on to explain that he is a driver trainer for Green Cab, and encourages everyone he trains to do the same. He says he wants to treat everyone the way he would want his mother treated. This is a somewhat rare thing these days, and very much appreciated.
Because he was so early, he took me on a scenic tour of State St., even stopping so I could snap pictures of some ice sculptures. What a nice start to the morning. I reached my destination with time to spare, very relaxed. And besides all this, Green cab is the cheapest ride in town. Now I have more background on the company too, and it is one I will continue to support.

Green cab is unreliable.
I booked a cab for a given time, but no cab showed up. When I tried calling to understand why, or when I could get a cab, I got a busy signal for over 20 minutes. This was on a random weekend night, not a holiday or anything, nothing special. Their concept seems good, but in practice, the lack of communication just sucks. As it turns out, a cab wasn’t available for the time I had booked, but no one told me that, so I had to wait until I could finally get through via phone.
Only use green cab if you don’t have a timeline, you don’t mind walking if the cab never shows up, and you can accommodate a total lack of communication regarding if/​when you might get a cab.

They used to be good. These days they always take forever to pick you up, I’ve had a few no shows too. Also a fee weeks ago I needed to go to work and the cab didn’t come because somebody made a
mistake in their offices…

I’ve used Green Cab a few more times since last year, and every experience has been extremely positive. I realize that cab timing seems to be hit-​or-​miss, but for some reason that seems to happen across the board with Madison Taxis, so I don’t think delays are exclusive to Green Cab.
Over several trips, I’ve chatted-​up the drivers and they’ve shared that during peak times or on days of major events (Freakfest, Great Taste, major downtown events, etc) that they tend to be short-​staffed, so to expect wait times of around 30-​minutes, even if you «pre-​order» your ride via the website. Plan accordingly; give yourself time, and all will be great.
What is exclusive to Green Cab (from what I can tell) is:
— Nice drivers; friendly, cool
— Prompt, efficient route choices
— Zoned pricing = reasonable rates
— Clean cabs
I recently had to take a cab from the Verona area to downtown Madison, and the rate was $ 10. The cab arrived quickly, and the driver was super cool. Same thing to be said for the return trip — fast arrival, friendly, and $ 10 for the trip.
A trip from the Barrymore theater to the Memorial Union will run you a cool $ 5. That’s awesome.

I always want to say something positive about Green Cab because I like their concept, but unfortunately their execution never cuts it for me.
Last weekend I waited an hour and a half for a cab. Our driver was nice but didn’t actually get to the restaurant we were heading to, and instead dropped us off about two blocks away. It wasn’t a total catastrophe, but I’ve certainly learned my lesson to stop calling Green Cab.

Worst service ever!!!
They were 20 minutes late picking me up.
Told the driver i needed to be to the airport and he ignored my urgency and ran around the city picking random people up while almost re ending traffic on Whitney way texting on his iPad.
So I ended up missing my flight and as I exited the vehicle the driver was trying to throw my bag that contain my computers and etc on the ground luckily I caught it before it hit or I would probably be sitting in DCJ for beating up a green cab driver.
If you are in a hurry expect any transportation to take you minimum of a hour and half not including pick up time. You would be better off walking!!!

Used to use them weekly.
The last 4 times I’ve used Green cab they either lost my reservation, were so late and didn’t answer my calls that I had to change my plans or tool a route so crazy and long it was like they’d never driven in Madison before… Always when I’m on my way to the airport.
I plan ahead but they’ve started dressing me out for my travels. Will not be using them anymore.

My friend put in a cab request for 2:30PM today. We received a text from the driver at 3:54PM telling us that he was on his way to pick us up. Luckily we had already started our drive to Milwaukee after we missed the Badger Bus because our driver didn’t show up.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this is probably just a fluke — due to the freakish snowstorm yesterday and because it seems like Green Cab has pretty good reviews in general… but I think I’m going to avoid including cabs in my travel plans from now on.
