Hachi Barber & Salon

My first time there & last. The lady supposed to specialize is men’s cut. I was very very specific about a taper, fade, & blending at the top with some texture. She ends up ignoring all of that & gives me an undercut. Really rough with the buzzer & razor, ended up bleeding by my sideburns & had a huge amount of ingrown hair, which I usually don’t have a problem with at all.

I have waited a month to write this review just for the off chance my terrible haircut miraculously grew out and started to look better. It didn’t.
I will start by saying that yes, I am East Asian, and therefore it is *difficult for a white barber to get it right. Don’t be fooled by the Japanese sounding name, this place employs white barbers.
Seeing a white barber, I immediately, defensively, requested that she simply cut my hair no longer than one and a half inch shorter maintaining the exact same style as before. Now I had low expectations to begin with but wow. I part my hair to one side, and the bangs are obviously longer on one side than the other to achieve this parting. The first thing this barber did was cut my bangs symmetrically in a very flat V shape resulting in me looking like Spock from Star Trek. Asides from that my hair ended up being at least three-​four inches shorter than original and will now take another few months to grow back. I have pretty much cried every time I look in the mirror for the past month.

First time here. Johnnie was attentive to detail and did a great job. Loved the way he styled my long hair. Also did a great job covering the grey growth. Akemi and Nicole were friendly as well. I will be a long time client, for sure.

After a scheduling disaster at another salon, I had to make a last minute appointment and found Hachi on Unilocal.I wanted to dye my hair and had a few pictures, but having not dyed my hair since those awkward middle school years, I wasn’t really sure what would look good on me. I showed Johnnie the pictures, but pretty much just said «make it look good». And it looked GREAT — it was exactly what I wanted! I’ve gotten many compliments too. I will definitely be a returning customer!

Came here after a friend recommended Akemi. Great quality haircut. Akemi has really great attention to detail and expertly cleans you up all around the edges with a straight razor. From now on, I’m not going to let anyone but Akemi touch my hair. Well worth the $ 24!

My husband and I both get our hair cuts from Akemi, who we followed from another barber shop when she established Hachi (meaning 8, a lucky number) two or three years ago. It is a small full-​service salon which also welcomes walk-​ins. Akemi gives expert haircuts and is adept at fulfilling customer requests for kind of cut and how much to take off. She deserves five stars for her work but I have not had experience with other personnel in her salon, hence four stars for the salon as a whole. Highly recommend.
