The James Watrous Gallery focuses on contemporary Wisconsin artists, Wisconsin art and craft history, and works owned by Wisconsin collectors. As part of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, the gallery also features exhibitions that bridge the arts, sciences, and humanities.
History
Established in 2004.
The Wisconsin Academy’s James Watrous Gallery opened on the 3rd floor of Madison’s Overture Center for the Arts in 2004. Its predecessor, the Wisconsin Academy Gallery, was established in the 1980s in the Steenbock Center at 1922 University Avenue.
