The apartment management here is amazing. If you email or call about a maintenance issue in the morning, someone will typically stop by later that day. If it’s the afternoon or evening, it will get done the next day. They’re also good about a lot of smaller details. The garage is heated, so you don’t have to get into a freezing car on cold days. The driveway and sidewalk near the apartment are also heated, so you don’t have to deal with snow and ice right next to the apartment. They even clear the garage so you don’t get that nasty slush/dirt/salt/dust buildup in the winters. Despite all that, when we were looking at apartments, this place was cheaper than comparable new buildings. Management is fair about the deposit. We didn’t get 100% of our deposit back, but we got most of it back, which seemed pretty reasonable. Also, even though we broke our lease early, we didn’t have to pay most of the penalty since they were able to re-lease the apartment pretty much instantly. Some caveats are that, if you live on the Johnson side of the building, early morning deliveries to McBride Deli can be pretty loud, and it’s a high traffic street with as much street noise as you’d expect from a high traffic street. Also, the washers had problems pretty regularly for the last six months that we lived there, and there’s no gym(although you get a discount at a gym that’s a couple blocks away).
