Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center

Amazing venue for a wedding!
We looked at several places throughout the Madison area, for our wedding reception. The Monona Terrace was always the front runner; and we’re so happy we chose the Terrace!
As the bride, you’re predisposed to being very worried that all of the details won’t be represented and the final product won’t look like what you had imagined. Let me tell you, when I came downstairs to check out the decorations, tables, etc. everything was PERFECT!
We chose the Community Terrace. There are broad Windows overlooking the Lake Monona and it was a large enough space for our guests. I can’t get past how beautiful it all was!

I came here with my significant other for his holiday company party. I’ve also stopped in to see the sun rise over a frozen lake and to show a family member the small museum. Each time the staff was lovely and helpful.
As for the company party, it was very nice. I assume the catering company was the terrace’s. Under that assumption, the food was quite good. They served an average salad and a chicken wellington. The wellington was a touch on the dry side, but otherwise quite good. The mushrooms were a nice touch. For dessert they served an amazing apple cheesecake with a carmel drizzle and coffee. The wait staff was amazing. Very attentive and incredibly nice. The bartender also made a nice old fashioned!
The one time my significant other and I came to watch the sun rise we assumed no one would be there at 6 in the morning on a freezing winter day. So we showed up in basically pajamas and a winter coat. As it turns out there was actually a huge security convention scheduled! Opps! They let us go into the sectioned of area to the side before the coffee place opened and didn’t seem to mind so long as we didn’t come back to the main area.
Overall the place is quite lovely and I would recommend coming here for the view any day!

For several years I’ve enjoyed visiting the Monona Terrace rooftop to look at the lake, have a nice seat outdoors for lunch when I was working at the City-​County Building, and visit the Otis Redding memorial. Last week I attended a fundraiser dinner for Clean Wisconsin and got to check out more of the facilities.
Our banquet hall was gigantic but the sound system kept it from feeling cavernous, as did the arena-​style stage — it looked a bit like a boxing ring minus the ropes, but was fantastic because each side could see and kept the speakers on stage dynamic as they moved around, addressing each side.
Service was mostly good — servers were invariably polite and good at clearing and setting with speed and minimal intrusion. My only gripe comes with the knives: 1) they were often picked up but never replaced, and 2) they were butter knives — A-​OK for the zucchini bread and ravioli we were served, not so great for the short ribs and pork loin. It took me so long to work with the butter knife that I didn’t have a whole lot of time for eating and didn’t get to finish either meat course.
My favorite design aspect of our hall was the light fixtures; they were really different and a perfect fit for Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision.
