We took the tour as well as the lunch after. It was a very informative tour. We were at the blessing ceremony as well. GREAT group of people. I would suggest the tour for anyone or just stop in.

Best time ever! We are locals and take all our mainland visitors for a tour. Chad, Sharona and Master Distiller Mark Nigbur are awesome and so incredibly fun and enthusiastic! This is a «must do» on Maui. Really!

We went on the quick but informative distillery tour. It costs $ 10 and includes a small sample of three of their products. You can ONLY have three, not two, not four, but three. You may not share your samples with others, nor may you give your samples to others. You may allow others to smell your three samples.
It is interesting to see how they produce their different spirits, such as rum, vodka and flavored version of both. It is all done in one big room. It all reminded me of when I used to make my own wine and beer but just on a bigger scale. (and cleaner). The big thing about the rum is that Sammy Hagar has his name attached to it. It is called Sammy’s beach rum and «it Rocks!» or so the many signs say. Supposedly Mt Haggar is called the «red rocker» and his fans are called «red heads». I have never met a Hagar fan or someone who professes to be a so-​called «red head» so I will have to take the 21 year old tour guide’s word for that.
Although the tour was rather quick it was a good tour. Lots of time in the distillery to take it all in and take pictures, ask questions and see everything. Then off to the tasting room.
They make vodka, rum and also a type of whiskey called Paliolo named after the Hawaiian cowboys, and its symbol is a mustache similar to the ones the Hawaiian cowboys used to wear. I never drink spirits, only a glass of wine now and then, so I don’t know if the vodka or rum was any good. But they did come in first place out of five distilleries in Hawaii in the Vodka category. I know who knew there were five distilleries in Hawaii.
We bought a bottle of the Paliolo blended whiskey hoping it will make a suitable Christmas present for dad. Mark, the distiller who is in charge of everything signed the bottle and that was a great gesture.
All in all it was a fun and informative hour and we got to taste some spirits. The «Read Head macadamian run was definitely our favorite.

This was place by far is one of the best tours you can ever do while you are on the Island. I am a local girl. The manager Chad was our tour guide so much knowledge, so cool. Pineapple vodka, Pog vodka hibiscus vodka, whiskey vodka, cognac vodka let’s not forget Sammy Hagar new The Beach Rum with raw sugar from Maui and you get to try three samples and a free shot glass and let face it the tasting room is awesome… vodkas are distilled made with all natural extracts and flavors no artificial or crappy sugars prices are absolutely reasonable not to mention their logo clothing and hat are pretty cute — if you buy some bottles ask if the owner is there Mark Niburg he’s so cool you will be more than happy to autograph of the bottle

Stumbled across this distillery. Almost didn’t take the tour, but glad I did. My wife and enjoyed it greatly and met the people behind these spirits.

The tour was so awesome and the entire staff was so chill and laid back. You can tell that they all love what they do, and it shows in their products. Everything from the vodka to the whiskey is amazing. I thought the Sammy Hagar red rum had a bad after taste from the coloring but that was my only negative thing I could think of, everything else is AWESOME!!!
Mark was so kind to sign all of our bottles we purchased. I walked away with at least 3 bottles and a hat and shirt because I really enjoyed my time there. I made sure once I got back to Cali to find PAU vodka at my local stores.

Sharona was our guide (sorry if I misspelled). She did a fantastic job even in the super heat. Pineapple distilled vodka, sweet!
Lots of very cool historical stories and workforce to impress. The liquor is delicious, the people are awesome and the company is stellar.
Go visit, it’s worth the ten bucks.

This is worth your while. Looking at the reviews I see a lot of comments about how engaging the guides are. We were privileged to be shown the way by Sharona and enthusiasm barely cuts it when describing her. My wife wanted to take her home with us. (Note: we’re not swingers.)
The tour was very interesting and informative. And there’s something about having the process of creating a product explained to you that makes experiencing that product much deeper. I don’t think I could possibly have noticed the very subtle pineapple essence in Pau Vodka without having been primed to notice it.
We also got to meet Mark Nigbur, who is the mastermind behind these excellent spirits. If he’s around when you visit you’ll probably meet him, too. We bought a bottle of his vodka and he was kind enough to autograph it for us. Who knows? You could possibly bump into Sammy Hagar, too. In fact, you might bump into Mark and think you bumped into Sammy. :)
For me, given that I’m a mega geek, a highlight was seeing the biggest glass still in the world. Actually, there were two.
You should also head over to the Hali’imaile General Store across the street for lunch or dinner. You’ll be glad you did.

I highly recommend visiting Haliimaile Distillery for both locals and visitors. They do a wonderful job explaining how they make their rum, vodka and whisky products.
I’ve been twice now, once with visiting friends and again with some local girlfriends. Both times I had Michelle as my tour guide. She’s a lot of fun and really made the distilling process easy to understand. I learned new things the second time around too.
You’ll learn how they turn Maui Gold pineapples into Vodka, see the process in the and then finish in the tasting room.
By far your hardest decision will be which 3 spirits to sample in the tasting room. I’m a fan of Pau Vodka, the Mac Nut Vodka and the Red Head Rum.
If you decide to buy a bottle and if Mark, the Master Distiller, happens to be around. Don’t be shy, ask him to come autograph the bottle. It looks super cool and also makes a nice gift too.
Locals, show your HI Driver’s License for some Kama’aina love.
Before or after your tour, be sure to grab some grindz at the food truck or at the Haliimaile General Store, both have yummy options.

We decided to partake in the tour after having a drink at the Hali’imaile General Store. The cup used was a copper mule with Pau Maui Vodka written on it. After sipping the drink, we knew we had to check the place out. Learning the distilling process is quit fascinating. But, hearing about Mark being one of the pioneers of the craft distillery is even more impressive. Thanks for paving the way Mark!
At the end of the tour, you get to sample three different spirits. It’s a hard decision so, choose wisely! I’m not usually a rum drinker but let me tell you, the Red Head Rum is fantastic & a bottle, signed by Mark, will be going home with me!

This place is a jewel on Maui! What a great tour! Everyone there was so welcoming, nice and fun! We loved the enthusiasm! The Pau Vodka is definitely a favorite and it’s distilled from PINEAPPLES! We were there prior to the tasting room opening but loved every minute of our tour and learning how Mark’s passion and talent shows up in bottles of rum, vodka and whiskey!
If you are planning a visit to Maui, you MUST include this place as a go to!

Saw an ad in Hana Hou Magazine on our Hawaiian Air flight from Honolulu to Maui. So happy we stopped by!
Kamaaina discounts apply and we were treated to an educational tour of the process of distilling vodka from pineapple mash and rum from sugar cane, and whiskey too. Due to the world’s largest glass distilling of the vodka, the impurities like acetone and ethanol (?) are distilled out to leave a smooth, non-​hangover inducing vodka on par with some of the world’s finest vodkas!
At the end of the tour we were able to try 3 of the different flavors of of rum, vodka, and whiskey. My favorite was the pineapple, orange, guava flavored rum! Delicious! And we all got souvenir shot glasses as a cute keepsake too!

Fantastic place. I have visited several distilleries over the years and this was my favorite. Everything about this place was extremely unique and the operation is all under 1 roof! Everything is done under one roof even up to applying the labels on the bottles. Everyone was very friendly and the tour was concluded with a tasting. I would strongly recommend anyone in Maui to visit. You won’t regret it. Side note: this is a short drive from the airport, or you can visit on the way to Hana or after a trip to Haleakala. Thanks to everyone at the distillery for a memorable time.

What a great staff and tour. Educational and fun. Michelle was very knowledgeable, Chad is a nice guy and Mark is cool and fun.
For never having tried whiskey before, I ended up buying a bottle since it was so smooth. They make several great products between vodka, rum and whiskey. So glad we stopped here.

Toured and tasted today at Hali’imaile Distilling. What a great group of people and some very tasty vodkas, whiskies and rums.
The Pau vodka is smooth and made with local pineapples from right across the road.
Their Paniolo Blended Whiskey is a tribute to the Hawaiian Cowboy and shows off Master Distiller, Mark Nigbur’s creative talents.
The Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum is made for Sammy Hagar… Sammy and Mark could very well be «brother from another mother» (see attached picture).
All in all, what a fun, friendly and tasty place to spend a few hours in Upcountry Maui.

Their launch party is on Jan. 24^th!
First I would say, this is the epitome of Aloha hospitality. Our guide was so awesome and 5++++ stars for just taking us in to a free tour of the distillery.
Distilling pineapple to make VODKA? Holy moly this was amazing beyond belief. We were able to see how the magic was made in a GLASS distiller, so cool.

PAU Vodka is their brand and it is definitely worth checking out.
Btw, since it was pre-​opening there was no liquor tasting. But I think by Jan. 24^th you guys should be able to taste what magic is.

What a find… Walking out of Hali’imalie General Store after lunch, I see the word Distillery. I must check this out. Newly opened in this spot, but the owner has been distilling spirits for years. Mark has been making Sammy Hagar’s rum for Cabo Wabo. When he introduced himself I thought he was Sammy, but Mark is a little younger. He was totally my idea of a person living the laid back life in Hawaii.
Mark turned us over to his son Cory who took us next door to the production building. An old Quonset hut 200×40 feet. Cory really knew his father’s business quite well. He was so detailed in his tour, if I had taken notes I could probably give it a try at home. You could tell both Mark and Cory had great passion for their craft. The sugar quality for the rum was very precise. And only local Maui pineapples were used for their vodka.
Pau Vodka, Paniolo is the coffee flavored whiskey and of course Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum are available for tasting.
If on Maui take the time to stop in for a tour and tasting. And grab a bite across the street.
