One word — chicken! Way better than any fast food fried chicken I have ever had. Sounds weird but the chicken at this location is better than what I have had from the Minit Stop in Kahului — they must be doing something different! The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Once I went around lunchtime and the lady covering the food counter was having her own lunch — the ladies at the checkout offered to take care of me for her because it was quiet but she insisted on serving me anyway — very nice people.

Went in at 12:30 today for fried chicken. I ordered the 12 piece of chicken and potato wedges. I was told it would be 20 minutes. No chicken at lunch time! I put in my order and said I would be back. I retuned 20 minutes later and was told it would be 3 minutes more, 15 minutes later my order was ready. In the mean time other people was ordering chicken but NO chicken. After they made my 12 there were only a few pieces left. You would think they would make a huge batch. As I am paying a women comes in an orders 3 potato wedges, oops now no wedges either. That’s crazy for a Sunday afternoon. The guy cooking the chicken was really nice but you could tell he was new and there was no one else helping him. The chicken was really good that’s why they get 2 stars but the service sucks! I also think they should have given me a few extra pieces of chicken for waiting half hour!

LOCATION: On Haleakala Highway, on the right hand side, right past Pukalani Shopping Center. It shares a parking lot with McDonald’s. I grew up in Pukalani and would frequent this place a lot because of two things… their fried chicken and their deep fried, fat potato wedges. As a teen, you know that this type of food reigns supreme! On the way home from a busy school day, or after a day at the beach, this was always our go to place for grinds! They serve their wedges with mayonnaise and barbecue sauce. The order is you dip it into the mayonnaise and then the barbecue sauce. Winners!!! So ono!!! No, it’s not healthy. It’s fried, fattening, and somewhat greasy, but it always hits home for me. MMMMMMMMM!!! Their fried chicken is also very ono!!! Crispy batter on the outside with just the right seasoning, and you take a bite to find that the inside is very moist and juicy. Good stuff!!! To be honest, I’d eat that chicken over Kentucky Fried Chicken and Zippy’s. Lol. When I visit my first home(Maui), this is always on my list of places to visit before I head back to honolulu. If you’re ever on Maui and in the Upcountry area, go check it out!

As one needs to prepay on credit card, be wary of them refunding any unused balance. I prepaid $ 40 but rental only took $ 32, I was told by clerk she refunded the difference back to my card — BUTNO, SHEPOCKETEDTHEMONEY! Is this a common way to hose tourists? All I can say is Karma baby

Minit Stop… how I miss you. The chicken snack saved me on many a broke occasion. That and some mojo potatoes, and I was set until dinner time. It was dirt cheap and delicious. And I’d do it again if I still lived on Maui.

Fried Chicken puts Maui convenience stores on the map. I have this long torrid love affair with minit stop chicken. It’s an undeniable passion for fat fried grease that I can’t deny. One bite of the crispy skin and succulent meat get’s my heart pumpin and my mouth drooling. Yeah the darker the meat the juicier the treat. Hot n crispy chicken freshly made in the convenience store. Doesn’t get better than this. Move over KFC, there’s a new Colonel in town. Find these convenient stores all over the island. The Upcountry and Wailuku locations are my favorites. The ladies in Wailuku cook the fried chicken perfectly.
