Hi there Im from north andover wanted my hair braided and i called to see if she was available and she was made my day she was willing to work with me on how i wanted my braids and she did a great job i was a very happy lady today she was very plesant and outstanding work with hair i will be making more trips to see her it might be far but its reasonable price and quality and i would recommend her to everyone that wants their hair done thanks so much again UR THE BEST!!!

I will not be coming back to this salon. I called ahead of time and asked Judy for the price after giving specific details about the service I wanted. I even clarified so we had an understanding about how much I would have to pay. After I had made sure that we were on the same page, I made an appointment and came into my appointment on the same day. I got my (very short) hair washed, blow dried, and flat ironed and during this I was on my phone doing a puzzle. At one point I thought I heard the sound of shears and I turned around to see her cutting my hair. I was alarmed and confronted it to which she responded that the hair was «damaged and dead and it was healthier for my hair if she cut it».
No matter how much you think a person needs a trim – it is in NO way, shape or form your place to take it upon yourself to do so without first asking the client. I had no warning – nothing. At this point, all I could do is tell her to stop; it’s not like I could get the hair back.
To top it all off, when it was time to pay for her «services» she made up some crazy reason to charge me DOUBLE the price that I had been told on the phone. Again, I will not be coming back to this salon.

Coming here for the first time, you wonder how well will they do your hair? Is it going to be as nice as how my regular stylist does it? All these question you ask yourself and more. But coming here was simple, and she did my hair just the way I like it. She will ask you the type of style you want with your hair. You tell her and she does it and it flows perfectly in the wind! I’m truly impressed and I’m going to keep coming back!

I want to start this by saying I was provided a full refund for the services provided. For that I’m grateful. However, the experience was extremely unpleasant. I did some research prior to calling Intimate Whispers. Based on those reviews, proximity to my home and appointment availability, I made an appointment for my daughter to have her hair braided. When I first called, I asked for a price range — I was told braids start at $ 200 and to bring 4 – 8 packages of hair. My daughter indicated that there were several times during the day that Judy was working with another customer. I understand that there are times when it’s necessary to step away, but it seems that at least one of these times may have been a crucial misstep on Judy’s part. As we learned with past braiding the ends of the braids are finished by immersing them in boiling water to seal the ends and prevent them from unraveling. Near the end of the service, Judy proceeded to heat water in the microwave, but then left it for approximately 10 minutes (my daughter actually watched the clock on her phone) — the water was clearly not HOT when the braids were immersed. As soon as my husband got my daughter home, he called me to let me know she was NOT happy with how the braids turned out — several were already coming out. When he called Judy she insisted that he bring her back in that day so she could see what the problem was — at this point, my daughter was very upset and really didn’t feel comfortable going back there after sitting for close to 7 hours for the service. I called Judy to explain that my daughter was very upset and getting her back there that day was not likely to happen. She agreed to let us bring her back the next day at 12:30. While talking to Judy, she said ‘well the hair your brought was silky hair’. However, she then called me and said it HAD to be that same day. I explained that I was still at work, but would bring her in as soon as I got home. Judy didn’t understand why my daughter was upset about how the braids turned out. But my daughter knew what we paid for the braids ($ 280 plus a $ 25 tip) and was upset because we spent so much and the braids were coming out. When my daughter and I arrived at the shop, Judy was very antagonistic and insisted there was NOTHING wrong with braids. She again brought up the fact that we bought silky hair. I indicated that she should have told us before she started the braiding that the type of hair was a problem. She asked if we wanted her to take the braids out and refund the money — knowing that nothing was going to be done to change how the braids were coming apart, I said that I did want a refund. I offered to help take the braids out and she told me ‘no, I don’t want your help’ — I told her didn’t mind (thinking two people would make the task move faster) — she insisted that I NOT help her. She brought up the fact that we bought silky hair several times — and I stated several times that if the hair was going to pose a problem, she should have said something before starting the braids. At one point, her response was ‘well, how would I know it was going to cause a problem’. You cannot blame the hair in one comment but then say you didn’t know the hair would be a problem in the next. Judy also made it very clear that she’s been braiding for a very long time and since I don’t braid I don’t know what I’m talking about. She also accused my daughter of cutting one of the braids. When she accused my daughter of cutting one of the braids, I told her not to accuse my daughter of doing something — she told me ‘don’t talk like you have no sense.’ She was very abrasive when speaking with me and with my daughter, repeatedly telling me we were bring dramatic. While she raked a comb through the braids, I asked her to be a bit gentler, that she was hurting my daughter. She again insisted I was being drama and that she wasn’t hurting my daughter. Mind you, my daughter had tears streaming down her face! At one point, a customer came in and asked Judy why she was removing the braids, she once again made it very clear that we knew nothing about braiding and didn’t know what we were talking about when we said the braids were coming out — the customer insisted that the braids were perfect and I was once again asked if I braid and told I don’t know what I’m talking about since I don’t braid. In the meantime, the tears continued to flow from my daughter.). There didn’t seem to be any difficulty undoing the ends of the braids Judy put in — the combs they used seemed to separate the ends of the braids with ease. However, that didn’t stop Judy from raking a comb through my daughter’s hair in a very angry manner — she was often raking the comb through 3 or 4 braids at one time. While doing this, she was consistently complaining that we didn’t know what we were talking about, she’s been braiding a very long time, using profanity and calling me names. Overall, a very negative experience.

I recently moved from Los Angeles, and I was nervous about letting someone new do my hair. However, after reading Judy’s reviews on Unilocal,I decided to take a leap of faith and I’m so glad I did! I am so happy with how my hair turned out! Judy will definitely be my new hairdresser.

My 16-​year old wanted «box braids» and did her research and found Intimate Whispers Salon had good reviews. She called and spoke to Judy who asked her to come in for a consultation. The salon is conveniently located and Judy was wonderful. She offered my daughter a couple of options and we came back a few days later to have the braids done. They came out AMAZING! We can’t say enough good things about Judy and her salon. Clean, convenient location and the stylist is so talented. Thank you!

I called this place last minute and i was able to have my dreadlocks washed, maintained and dried within a good amount of time. The service was super friendly and the price for my hair wasn’t outrageous. I will definitely be going back to this place for all my hair care needs. Great and Easy to Find location. Super clean shop. Yes, the only parking is Street Parking but its not terrible. A great find in my time of need.

Judy is amazing! My daughter is mixed and I usually have no idea what to do with her hair. It’s been tough trying to find a place and with my girl going to over night camp next week I was in bind to get her hair corn rowed. Judy fit us in and did an amazing, fast job! Unfortunately, I was working so I didn’t get to meet her. But be assured she’s earned a repeat customer!

Finally!!! A professional ethnic hair stylist who commits to appointments and is on time and diligent in finishing her stylish, beautiful, work.

After having the same hair braider for over 15 years, I am blessed to find Judy. I will not only be using her for braiding, but for all my services.
The shop is fairly modern and clean. TV on an US channel and easy to find street parking.
Like, I said, I really want to keep her to myself. But, she deserves credit.
She loves what she does and it shows.

The service was amazing! I was on a huge search to get my hair done for the first time since moving to Massachusetts. I saw some reviews to this place and decided to give a call on a Sunday. Judy was really polite and set me up with an appointment. A little background… I didn’t have a relaxer for about 8 months and wanted one. I was also a little nervous about my edges and what she would say. (They are naturally thin, but after pulling my hair back so much due to work, it got worse). We talked very little about my edges but discussed it. This made me more comfortable. It was a reassuring conversation. I went in for a relaxer, and cut. A cut so I couldn’t pull my hair into a ponytail anymore! She did an amazing job! I am definitely going to set up future appointments with her. If you want a great conversation, great hairstyle, and someone who is down to earth. Come to this Salon!

Judy is AWESOME!!! She did my hair for my wedding and I got so many compliments! She is so nice, flexible and quite the stylist!!!

I’ve been going to Judy since before she opened Intimate Whispers. Where Judy went, I went. She saved my hair when it started falling out and she brought it back to life! She is one African American hairdresser that I must say does not have you in the shop waiting for hours – I am in and out. I am grateful to her for her flexibility with my everchanging schedule and for putting up with myself and my two girls over the years. Thank you Judy. You’re the best!!!

I have been getting my hair done by Judy for over 5 years. I met her at another salon and when she left, I followed her. She is reasonably priced and is not afraid to try new things, in fact she (like Lily A mentioned) is excited to do it.
For my birthday a few years ago, I wanted a weave. I was very hesitant because years before someone had braided my hair so tight and it hurt so much that I had to take it out after a day! Judy took her time and helped me through the whole process. She did such an amazing job that I decided to do it again for a wedding!
She has an amazing talent to not only style hair, but to talk to you and get to know you. By getting to know you, she can style your hair to suit your personality if you are unsure what you want to do.

After having a bad experience at another Malden salon, I sought a more upscale place to get my hair braided and was lucky enough to find this one. The owner, Judy, was very professional, talented, and had a great and friendly attitude. I liked her immediately. It was easy to schedule an appointment to get the work done, and her prices were reasonable.
Unlike my other experience, Judy’s work was NOT painful at all! She assured me that hair braiding, although a little uncomfortable at first, isn’t supposed to cause a lot of pain.
She also did not make me feel strange despite the uniqueness of the project (I make synthetic dread falls — other salon owners looked at me strangely, overpriced the job, or actually made fun of me for wanting such a thing for hair extensions!), and she really enjoyed doing the work. She was actually excited about doing it! I found out during our conversation during the work, that she is an art student, and loved to do artful work.
I had a wonderful experience here that has overshadowed the poor one I suffered earlier this year. Now I want to recommend Judy’s salon to everyone! Hers is the 3^rd extensions salon that I have tried in Malden, (including Noelle, and Fallou) and she is by far the best! She has all kinds of services — hair treatments, and hair replacement options to name a couple. You won’t regret a trip to Intimate Whispers. Thanks Judy!
