Awesome food, great service, and quick delivery. Get the Plato Montanero if you’re really hungry — it comes with rice, beans, steak, plantains, fried eggs, pork rind, and a salad. The salad always has fresh and crunchy vegetables. The plantains are sweet and are cut thick. They are always cooked perfectly. About 4 – 5 or so come in the Plato Montanero. I had low expectations for the steak the first time I got it, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was tender and easy to cut. The steak comes in a good portion size, and with everything else in the plate, you will not be able to finish in one sitting! One thing that I’ll note is that the actual restaurant is super small. If you want to go in and sit down, there is never a wait; I think most people(like me) either do take out or delivery. I’ve dined in a few times and I really liked the experience. The owner usually has a futbol game on TV and when you look around, you see a bunch of Mexican flags and artifacts that give it that authentic feel. No, you’re not walking into a 5-star restaurant with white-glove service, but its definitely a great experience and well worth the price. There is only on-street parking available, and parking in downtown Malden is tricky no matter what time of day. You will be lucky to find parking nearby right away.

We just ordered delivery from this place and let me tell you the food here is terrible. The food arrived hot, but the tortillas were mushy and falling apart because they were placed on top of hot rice(horrible tasting rice, how could they mess up cooking rice??!). The taco itself tastes bad, there were big chunks of pork fat mixed together with meat and everything else. The burrito is the worst, I took one bite and immediately threw it away. The salsa was terrible, store bought would have been better. Overall the chips were the only edible thing. What a waste of $ 20, way over price. You couldn’t pay me to eat here again. I lived in Texas for a part of my life, I know authentic Mexican food. I never expect to get the best Mexican food in New England but out of all the places here, this has to be the worst experience. Stay away, save your money.

Ripoff alert!!! Ordered 2 large(hardly large) burritos, a carnitas and pollo each to go. Besides the overwhelming amount of rice & beans vs. meat ratio… you may as well say they were vegetarian for all intensive purposes. What meat there was detectable, it tasted leftover from yesterday or the day before. Not exactly homemade fresh. And wayyy too much cumin used. the predominate flavor. Also ordered a side of blk beans @$ 3.99. Upon inspection at home, the container was not even filled and had so much liquid in it… the food cost must’ve been $.39 cents. And basically tasted straight out of the can. All this disappointment for 21 bucks. Not a true Latino taqueria by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh. My. Sweet Mother of Taco Salad. I ordered online, and I don’t usually judge a restaurant by what I get out of that particular experience, but the food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The taco salad had not one piece of wilted lettuce. It had an actual piece of grilled steak, and a fried corn tortilla on top, where it would stay crisp, instead of one of those hideous flour bowls. The guacamole and pico de gallo were fresh and delicious — spicy with a solid blast of lime. I will eat here again.

Came here for a quick lunch on a saturday, left with a bad taste in my mouth. Ordered two carnitas tacos and sat down with a basket of chips and salsa. Chips were well salted but I knew my meal was headed downhill when i tried to dip my chips in the small well of runoff mistaken for actuall salsa. As I sat there I heard a sound which makes everyone’s heart drop. The microwave. My carnitas were the leftovers of yesterday’s, or perhaps even the day before’s making. The chef forgot to drain the microwaved meat so my lukewarm tortillas soon became a soggy uncooked mess with a small helping of shredded iceburg, sour cream and old guacamole. For 3 dollars a piece I expected a little more. Would not recommend to anyone, especially lovers of mexican food who will only be reminded of so many more competant and delicious places with better prices and friendlier atmospheres.

Friendly staff. Small. A little cold in the restaurant. I asked for shrimp tacos and it was not what I expected. The shrimp was from a can. My husband liked the churrasco. The chicken wings and fries were liked by the kids.

Had a steak taco plate to go and everything sucked. The tacos were soggy, the«salad» had shredded lettuce, the rice was plain and the homemade hot sauce wasn’t even hot. The food was definitely made with no love! The cook seems kinda mean, he didn’t acknowledge that I was there considering It was my first time there, because I didn’t know what to get. Also he was being mean to the female cashier because she couldn’t find whatever he needed. I love Mexican food but this is by far one of the worst Mexican foods I’ve ever had(besides American Mexican.) It’s pretty pricey too, $ 2.99 per taco! I spent almost $ 30 bucks for two plates… And it’s only lunch! I gave this place a two star because at least my boyfriend’s food was ok. He had one of those Mexican breakfasts… You can’t go wrong with steak and eggs I guess. In conclusion, you won’t be seeing me there again… First impression IS everything.

Call ahead for pick up! I liked their tacos and flautas plate, which come with rice, benas, salad — full meal. As others have mentioned, their carnitas is a little bland for being carnitas, so I usually went with chicken or beef tongue(if you’re adventurous, I think it’s quite good!).

Much like my opinion of Malden, this place was lacking. Was in town for Jury Duty(aww yah civic duty) and decided to amble on down this way on lunch break. Maybe I should have read the reviews more carefully because two veggie tacos(and a whopping $ 8 after tax) later I was pretty unimpressed. The seemingly boiled and flavorless tacos came with a smattering of shredded lettuce and a sprinkle of bagged«mexican» cheese, it was topped off with a dollop of sour cream and all piled on top of a couple soggy corn tortillas. If it wasn’t for the Tapitio that was on the table I doubt there would have been any flavor at all. It did come with chips, which weren’t too shabby but the salsa lacked spice of any sort. Again, time to break out the Tapatio. Maybe I just don’t know where to go in Malden, but frankly I avoid the city at all costs. Feel free to enlighten me, or don’t and keep those gems to yourself.

I love going to this place for brunch. It has some great horchata along with a large menu for this small establishment. My favorites here have been the burritos as well as the salsa. The burgers and tacos are great as well! The rice plates, they’re alright. This place is relatively small but taking the food to go will taste just as great. Being on the corner, down the street from Malden Station and 2 blocks from the high school makes this a convenient place for some good Mexican food.

Finally decided to try based on reviews and our hankering for a good breakfast burrito. Two words: hidden gem! Very good burrito(ask to add jalapeños) and huevos a la Mexicana were yummy ! We’ll be back for dinner!

I love this little place. Growing up west coast, I definitely look for«mom & pop» in Mexican food, as they tend to be a little more savory or authentic(whatever that means). This place is all that.

The tacos aren’t particularly flavorful, but they’re not deep fried or covered in oils either. I like them; they feel a lot lighter than fast food variants. The burritos are especially good. The delivery drivers are really polite. I only wish they had delivery during dinner or ANYTIME on the weekends.

This little Mexican heaven is great for a quick bite during lunch break. I typically get the chicken burrito but have also had tacos and sandwiches in the past. The staff is friendly and attentive. Only drawback is the 50 cent charge for using plastic.

Still not sure why this place is called«Valley» taqueria. When I google«Is Malden, MA a valley?» all I get are Unilocal reviews of this place, and a bunch of suggested questions not nearly as savory as their food(«Do you mean: Is Malden, MA a safe place?») No, google, that is not what I mean. Especially because when I looked up whether Malden was a valley on their wiki page, its SECOND sentence is «In 2009, Malden was named the „Best Place to Raise Your Kids“ in Massachusetts by Bloomberg Businessweek.» There are two source because it’s so unbelievable that the primary source isn’t enough. But back to VTMG. Another key lunch spot: cheap, yummy(aren’t those the only two criteria for lunch?). There are tiny, pastel tables outside, which I’m all about in the summer months. They have damn good meat, which it all you can really ask for in a Mexican place(who the eff is ordered the VEGGIE burrito? Carnitas, baby). I’m wary to admit this, but I’m from LA. And Boston Mexican food is just not the same.(Boohoo) But this, my fellow Unilocalrowlers, is as close as I’ve come to the mean streets only made kind by the steamy, teeming, cilantro-laden Los Angelino burrito. Ya dig? Ya should.

This place is as good as it gets in Malden. Im from Dallas and we can get this cuisine anywhere, being up here I’ve searched high and low and would defffff recommend this place to anyone! You should try it if you haven’t you will be surprised how authentic the food is! I love the fact when you walk in you wouldn’t even know how delicious the food is until you bite into it! GOOOO

This is not fast food. Cooked to order and absolutely delicious! I had a burrito and rather than covering up their fresh, delicious ingredients with spices, they let the flavors of quality ingredients speak for themselves. Another trip I had the Salvadorian style breakfast which was PHENOMENAL, and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs. Ridiculously tasty, not heavy at all– eggs, tortilla, avocado, fried plantain, beans w/tortilla chips… filling and oh so very tasty. The guy even brought us a table outside while we were eating our breakfast in the sun on the bench. Looking forward to going back many, many times. Not a place to go to if you like tons of spice and heat– these people have flavor and know how to use it!

This place is down the street from my work, which is dangerous because it’s delicious. I’ve loved everything I’ve eaten here, it has very traditional Mexican food as well as burritos, nachos and quesadillas(the quesadillas are better when you eat in). They make their own chips and everything has guac, sour cream and salsa, the salsa could be a little better but it’s decent. The prices are great. I really want to try their breakfast soon :)

A miniscule counter with a smattering of tables, one drink cooler and a TV blaring news from El Salvador. Valle was empty at 2:30p, leaving me to my uninterrupted menu perusing devices. Breakfasts served all day? Tempting. «The Mountain Plate,» piled high with meats, cheeses, sauces and rice? Demasiado. The small burrito ran $ 6, taming the hungerbeast with the choker chain combo of sour cream(the inside was so milky) and shredded lettuce, neither of which necessarily belonged in my burrito, but it was ordered as it stood. Wouldn’t have minded the accoutrements, if they didn’t completely overshadow the few chunks of beef present in the wrap. What little was there had a tenderness and proper seasoning hard to find elsewhere. There was just so little of it! And at $ 6, it was far from a bargain. Billed as coming with a side of homemade chips and salsa, the paper bag yielded exactly 6 tiny, gum-cutting chips and a plastic ramekin of salsa. Disappointed? Un poquito. Especially because the chips were a bit old, cold and(as mentioned) brutal on the dentata. The true star was the pupusa. Pork and cheese(revueltas) griddled into a corny-based pocket. Carbonized, charred hot and fresh, and running you only two bones a piece, just load up on three of these bad boys and grab a Sunkist from the cooler. It’ll cure what ails ya!
