LA West Elite event at Rosenthal Wine Bar & Patio

Virgil and I trekked over from Torrance, enjoying the scenic route that is Malibu coast, and arrived at Rosenthal Winery on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I was almost afraid we would have to park on PCH (nightmare!) but we shimmey-​ed our way between a palm tree and another car on the parking grounds.
After checking in at the table and getting the usual «My name is cooler than yours» name badges, we were immediately greeted by wine enthusiast who offered us «fruity wine.» «What kind of fruits does it contain?» «Fruits… like apples and peaches…» I personally couldn’t taste any of the fruits he mentioned but we sure appreciated his enthusiasm.
The La Frite truck caught my eye first so we made our way to the then-​short line, mingled with other Unilocalers, sampled Duke’s Ahi Poke (super tasty!), ventured out to sample EOS chocolates, and ordered the Chateaubriand burger (bacon!), the garlic mushroom burger, garlic fries, and the crème brûlée. My favorite were the garlic fries! I like ‘em skinny and spineless with lots of garlicky favors! We shared the crème brûlée around the wine barrel cause the truck ran out — everyone loved it!
The olive bar was also fun! I liked the cheese stuffed olives but everybody else liked the almond stuffed olives. They exclusively poured a Muscat (I believe) wine everybody kept coming back for — that was a real winner! Our group of new and old friends formed a fat circle around an empty wine barrel which a staff initially rolled into the shade for Virgil and me. The staff here are just wonderful!
Live music was a’playing, wines were a’pouring and we were having just a great time at a winery by the beach. We all received complimentary wine tasting cards and can’t wait to be back! Thank you Brittany and thank you Rosenthal!

A really relaxed YEE with plenty of food, wine and glorious weather at Malibu — belated thanks to Brittany B and crew for this event!
The venue is conveniently located directly across the highway from Topanga State Beach with its stunning views of the beach.
Started the day off with some complimentary red wine from Rosenthal’s vineyards. Hard to believe they actually grow wine grapes on its nearby 250 acre estate in Malibu Newton Canyon.
2 local business provided savory and sweet snacks: I got to sample various types of stuffed olives by La Bella Olives of Pismo Beach as well as satisfy my sweet tooth with bites by Eos Chocolates.
Poke Ahi Tuna cups by Duke’s Malibu (they’re located further up the road on PCH) were a huge hit and their staff was so friendly and generous! Normally I don’t like to have Tuna Poke on a hot day out of fear of getting sick, but the folks at Duke’s were total pros — the fish was fresh and delicious!
The Burger Sliders were also quite popular, but the Chicken Caesar Salad by La Friite Express of Sherman Oaks hit the spot. They also offered Crème Brulee, but that ran out within the 1^st 30 minutes of the event!
The food highlight for me was the Komodo Truck. For the first time, I had the top 3 selling tacos on their menu. The Asian Marinated Chicken with a mandarin orange segment; the Komodo 2.0 Sirloin Beef with corn and red peppers; and the Indonesian Pork with coconut milk were all so delicious!
Before leaving, all Unilocalers also received 2 gift cards for complimentary premium wine tasting at Rosenthal Estate Winery’s Malibu Tasting Room.
I’m sooooo grateful to Unilocal for the wine/​food Malibu retreat. Knowing about this place will come in quite handy when I have overseas guests — I’ll take them here instead of Napa Valley and stay in SoCal!

This is my first west LA elite event as a Unilocal elite member. Thank you Brittany B! Anyway, I have to say it is such an amazing experience to partake. Although me and my plus one was half an hour late, we were able to join the outdoor fun at Rosenthal wine garden. We tasted multiple wines from whites to red and well as two different food trucks. We ate like tree were no tomorrow. My favorite truck that is still in my memory is the Komodo food truck. Their gourmet taco is so good! Another tasting that was amazing is the crunchy chip ahi poke from Dukes. I also had the opportunity to socialize with some other fun elite members.
At the end of the event, I left with extra Komodo tacos (since the food truck guy said so), two free complimentary wine tasting to Rosenthal, and two coupons for Dukes fried calamari. I just redeemed both deals today and it was worth it. The wine expert from Rosenthal remembered me and made sure he took care of me and my guest. So happy that it will definitely give them a superb review.

Wine makes everything better! But when everything is already a lovely Sunday in Malibu, wine makes everything phenomenal!
Easily tucked along PCH, with a private parking lot and plenty of street parking, Rosenthal Wines was so kind as to host the elites for this amazing event! The sun was out and showing its cali-​love, and the La Frite and Komodo food trucks kept the food flowing!
There was live music, an adorable patio (I can’t even imagine how cute at night, with lights strung up overhead), and so much wine! Rosenthal had an entire fleet of People walking around refilling any near-​empty glass.
The food was great, as I tried the made-​to-​order sliders from La Frite, tacos from Komodo, ahi tuna poke (full confessional, I definitely came back for seconds, and maybe thirds, it was delicious) from Duke’s of Malibu, and Eos chocolates! Amazing!
Left full, buzzing, healthy and happy. Thank you Brittany B. and Rosenthal for an amazing time!

This was a very nice event, great weather and location. I got in as +1, interesting combo of wine and food truck in the middle day. Everything works out quite well.
The Komodo trucks serve fusion between Asian and Mexican tacos, it was not bad. But they gave you choice of 3 tacos which are nice. I got one of each for steak, chicken and pork.
La Frite food truck was awesome; you can tell by the line that some people come back for second lol. The sliders or in my case was a half size burger was very tasty, the meat was juicy with spinach. The frites was very skinny and also delicious.
There’s also some appetizer like Ahi Tuna Poke from Duke’s Malibu which is mouthwatering, there was also olive and dark chocolate sample which ok average.
Last and not the least was the main attraction here which is the wine tasting, which we get to sample some of good wine from this place, included one bottle is date 1997 which is consider of one premium California wine out there.

I LOVE!!! Unilocal events, they put together another amazing event, the komodo truck and La frite truck where there, they both had amazing food, you were guaranteed to leave there super full in the tummy LOL, they had live music there, and the Rosenthal staff was walking around with bottles of wine for u to sample, you get your own glass of wine to use for the event, the tacos from the Komodo Truck were AMAZING!!!, they had little treats for u to take home like sunglasses, baggage name tags with the Unilocal symbol, brittany and the team did an amazing Job putting this together, THANKS Unilocal TEAM!!! :) I cant wait for the next event :)

You know, as I saw myself approaching 600 reviews, I really had to think about which review deserved the important 600^th spot. After enjoying a wonderful Sunday afternoon in Malibu, there was no contest: thanks to Brittany B. and to Rosenthal Wine Bar for creating a wonderful event!
The location was amazing. The servers were super kind and very wiling to pour wine heavy and often ;) Komodo was super kind, although, to be honest, the two times I went up to order, my order was not correct. Hard to complain when the food is gratis and it was still tasty! Had a yummy taste of Duke’s Tuna Tartare (thanks so much to Sam B. for making sure we had some at the table!) and enjoyed it. Didn’t get a chance to enjoy La Frite, but it looked like they were serving large-​size portions of food that looked yummy.
The weather was perfect; the company (Hello Sean and Sam B!!) was great, the wine was lovely; Brittany, you put on a great soirée! Jim G. and I are excited to visit Rosenthal again to soak up some wonderful weekend sun and weekend wine =)

My boyfriend and I have been very busy lately, but when I spotted an event at a wine bar on the Elite calendar, I knew we had to try to attend this event! It was a lot of fun and we were both glad we had the opportunity to go to this event.
We sampled a variety of food from Komodo food truck, La Frite food truck, Duke’s Malibu, and Eos Chocolates. We had tacos (Komodo 2.0, Asian Marinated Chicken, and Java), sliders w/​fries, Caesar salad, Ahi Poke with wasabi aioli, and dark chocolates & almonds. All the food was delicious, but the one we kept going back to was Duke’s Malibu – my boyfriend and I couldn’t get enough of the ahi poke! There was also a stand with a variety of olives. I normally don’t like eating olives, but they actually paired well with the wines.
There were several staff members walking around pouring us water and wines ranging from Sauv Blanc to Meritage. It was a hot day, but luckily Rosenthal put up several big umbrellas for shade. We didn’t like how some people claimed some of the spots under the shade though (they left their wine glasses on their seats for a long time).
We were full off of all the food and wine. Thanks to Rosenthal Wine Bar for hosting the private event. Thank you Brittany B. for organizing this fabulous event!

The Komodo and La Friet trucks had amazing food. Yummy unique tacos and delicious burgers. It was a nice surprise to see Dukes there as well. The Poke was amazingly yummy! (I was a Poke virgin)
They started us off with Albareno, which was nice, light and refreshing. Next we had the Sauv. Blanc then Chardonnay. All were great. Last was a red they called Platinum, which if I recall correctly was a blend of Cabernet, Cab. Franc, and Merlot. Tasty but not my style. Honestly though, everything was delicious. Great job Rosenthal! Great job Brittany!
Cant wait to see you all again at the next event!

What a great event, big thanks to Brittney for organizing another great Unilocal event. This was my first event as an Elite and I had a great time. The Rosenthal Staff was great and made sure everyone had plenty of wine to drink, their Cabernet was my favorite.
Both food trucks were awesome! I’m already a huge fan of Komodos and anytime I’m near Pico, Robertson I make sure to stop by. Their steak tacos are out of this world! The Le Frite trucks guys were awesome and so funny. They served such generous portions it would be impossible to not leave stuffed. I loved those sauteed mushrooms they topped their burgers with. By the time I tried them they ran out of the Brulee and the guy was so nice he whipped me up a chocolate and strawberry crêpe, yum! Thanks guys.
While waiting for my burger I wandered over to Dukes and my dream come true they had authentic Poke! Living in Hawaii for 6yrs this was true nostalgia for me. The quality of the ahi was excellent!
As always another awesome Unilocal event and the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

This event was one of the best that I have ever attended! The wine was plentiful and tasty, the food was SO good, and the staff was so very pleasant. Brittany B. is the best and really does a great job with organizing the Elite events– Kudos to her!
I was able to try the Komodo 2.0 tacos from the Komodo 2.0 food truck, which were so delicious, and the very juicy chateaubriand burger and grilled chicken cesar salad from the La Frite express food truck. I have to say that both trucks served up some of the best food that I have ever tasted and there was no shame in my game as I ate like a pregnant pig.
The venue was a beauty– plenty of tables and chairs on the patio, live music that was quite entertaining, and a good view of the ocean. I really felt like I was at a picnic in the park while me and my lucky +1 chatted with other guests. As usual, we did not leave empty handed. Upon check– in we were gifted with two complimentary wine tastings to redeem at a later date. LUCKY US!
I had such a great time. It was truly a Sunday fun day at Rosenthal and I cannot wait to get back.

Rarely do I ever get to bring the BF to a Unilocal event. But since this one didn’t conflict with his work schedule and it happened to fall on the same day as our one year anniversary, I thought it would be appropriate to invite him as my +1. Kickin’ it in the ‘Bu with my Boo ;D
The weather was hot, sunny, just a perfect day to be spending it near the beach. The setting at Rosenthal Wine Bar & Patio was relaxed with a live guitar player singing reggae tunes. Staff was coming around left and right pouring generous servings of Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, Chardonnay, and other varieties.
The wine hit me pretty quick so I was glad that the Komodo truck was serving up Soi Tacos:
La Bella Olives were sampling gourmet olives. I recommend the Smoked Almond Stuffed Green Olives!
EOS Chocolates sampled their vegan-​friendly chocolates which I pretty much decided is my new favorite thing in life! Especially the Orange Peel chocolate! The Millet chocolate is a close second and the Ginger chocolate is a close third.
Rosenthal staff was awesome, all of the vendors were awesome, drinks were flowing and food was abundant! Thank you Brittany for a Sunday Funday in Malibu! This was probably one of my favorite events! :)

Beach, wine, tasty food, and Unilocal what else could you ask for more?
The wine at Rosenthal Estates paired really well with the food offerings from the Komodo food truck and La Frite.
There was some ahi poke from Dukes as well.
Komodo had asian inspired beef, chicken, and soy dishes rolled up in flour tortillas… nice mix!
For La Frite I had the sirloin burger with garlic mushrooms, the meat was very juicy and had good texture. The fries were skinny and crispy.
I didn’t know Rosenthal wine had a wine tasting room, and I will go back for sure to hang out with friends to sample some more wines.

The patio behind Rosenthal’s is lovely indeed.
My fave was EOS chocolate covered almonds

I didn’t even know Rosenthal existed until the Elite event was held here. It was such a beautiful California «fall» day. My +1 and I got there 30 minutes early so we hung out at the tasting bar and was immediately greeted by Jesse, the dancing sommelier. He was great. So much fun to listen to and watch because he was so excited about wines and the Rosenthal brand. He told us that there was live music on Saturdays and Sundays and that we can bring outside food in and just hang out, drink wine, and chill. Totally my type of place!
Once outside on the patio/​grassy area, we swooped up two chairs in the shade and a little table made out of a wine barrel. Prime spot to hang out because it was in between the two food trucks (Komodo & La Frite) and close to the stage where there was a musician playing throughout our event.
This event was fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for greater weather, better wine, or better company. We made friends with another Elitist and her husband. They were amazing company! (Jen! Gotta add you as my friend on here!)
Not to mention the service was excellent! Marc Z, Lynn, and Mario seem to always appear as soon as my wine glass was empty.
Awesome job Brittany for another successful event and thank you Rosenthal for hosting! I will surely be back!

This was a another great LA West event. Thanks again Brittany! It was beautiful hot sunny day in Malibu. Rosenthal is easily seen going down PCH. You really can’t miss the giant table and chairs in the front. Great photo op spot.
Inside we got wine glasses which were full the whole time. The servers were great and kept our glasses full. There was a musician performing. The food truck food was also awesome. Komodo has always been one of my favorite asian fusion trucks. The mini poke bowls from Duke’s was were delicious. The food from La Frit was also great. The burger was juicy and well marinated.
Left this event full and happy.

Food trucks, great wine & a nice patio on the beach? Yes! Another successful LA West event! This was just what I needed.
On a lovely 85 degree Fall afternoon, I joined several Unilocal Elites and their Plus 1s for LA West’s Sunday Wine Down event at Rosenthal Wine Bar & Patio in the Bu. What a great spot! Thanks to Unilocal and Brittany B for introducing me to this place! I’ll be back.
The patio was closed off for the Unilocal event, and in addition to all the free wine, there were two food trucks and a food stand. La Frite food truck was okay. They had a chateaubriand slider with fries, which were okay. They had a great crème brulée, though! We also got to try the Komodo truck, which was awesome! Three tacos, each perfectly tasty and filling. We also tried some ahi tuna poke from Duke’s Malibu! As an added bonus, we got coupons for free calamari or dessert at Duke’s and a free wine tasting at Rosenthal.
There was also live music on a cute little stage. The staff told us that Rosenthal often has food trucks and music on the patio during good weather. How cool is that?! About the staff — they were super friendly and knowledgeable! The wines were great. I really enjoyed the Albariño, which is similar to a vinho verde from Portugal. I also tried the chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, which were lighter than most white wines I like. We also tried a red blend, which was very nice.
Great wine. Great staff. Great patio space! I am so glad Unilocal introduced me to this spot.

WOW! hands down one the best LA WEST events yet!
my boyfriend and i got to the event 45 minutes early so we decided to go through the under pass to take us to the beach across the street! it was such a nice beautiful day. the weather was sunny. it was just amazing! after strolling around we finally got to the venue and waited in line. right when it hit 12 brittany started to let us in! check-​in was a breeze we also got special envelope from rosenthal inviting us to a complimentary premium wine tasting. that was such a nice surprise and we will definitely come back!
everything from the venue, to the food, and the variety of wines were spectacular. i enjoyed spending our sunday here. we first tried the komodo truck and we loved the komodo 2.0 taco with seared top sirloin with jalapeño aioli and southwest corn salad! it was delicious! i just wish it was a bit spicy but that’s why they also had a bottle of sriracha.
the line for la frite was getting intense! the sun was beaming down on us but it was worth it after trying the la frite sandwich with the fries and also the chicken salad. the sandwich had great flavors and went really great with the fries. they also had a lot of chicken in the salad and it was just so fresh and crisp! duke’s also made an appearance and served their famous poke! it was so delicious especially the tuna!
BEST PART YET, MY WINE GLASS WAS NEVER EMPTY! i experienced some great service today. lynn always came to our table every time she got a new bottle of wine. my favorite was the first wine they served. i forgot the name of it but i do remember it had an aroma of green grapes with a crisp, refreshing taste to it.
OVERALL, great great event! i loved everything about it and had such a blast. i cant wait to tell everyone to visit rosenthal! they have reeled me in with their venue, wine, and service!

This is just what I needed – a fun, casual Sunday doing my favorite things: eating delicious food, drinking wine, listening to live music, hanging out with my fiancé and looking at the gorgeous ocean!
Rosenthal Wine Bar and Patio is a place we have driven by many times and never stopped – now we will definitely be back! Their patio is so nice and I love the live music on the weekends.
They even allow you to bring in outside food! Their service is fantastic! There was always someone coming around pouring drinks and chatting with us. They are great!
The two food trucks were awesome. My favorite was La Frite. The guy taking orders was fun to talk to, friendly and also hooked us up with carrot cake which was delicious. He even made me a veggie burger slider. My fiancé loved the sliders. The fries were soooo good. They also had crème brûlée which ran out so we didn’t get to try it and a Caesar salad they were offering. Komodo had Asian inspired soft tacos and i loved that they had a veggie option with the Soi Taco.
EOS handmade chocolate was amazing and the owner was so sweet. I have never had ginger chocolate before and it was amazing! Duke’s had tuna tartare which I am pretty sure my fiancé had like 5 of. rave reviews.

Also, Richard Cohen, the live musician was fantastic!

What a wonderful event! Great afternoon with super tasty food, perfect wine pairings, breathtaking ocean view, live music and great company of fellow Unilocalers! Kudos to Brittany for planning such a great event and the staff at Rosenthal for having us!
The Komodo truck serves these delicious lil Indonesian fusion tacos: steak, chicken, and pork all complimented by their signature fruit, herbs infused sauces. The Le Frite truck satisfied our taste buds with tender chicken Caesar salad, 3 kinds of sirloin sliders — the patty was made from premium quality meat and cooked to perfection, garlic skinny fries, and to top it all off: the crème brûlée — creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness.
Ecos had these lil pieces of chocolate heaven and Duke’s had the cutest lil trays of tuna tartare. I went back several times. Oink.
I finally got to meet Brittany for the first time. Woohoo! She’s not only super nice, very organized but is also super duper pretty and has really good fashion taste! I’m so shopping where she shops.
