Payless Shoesource

I’m giving Payless Shoes in Mamaroneck 5 stars. Jonathan has excellent customer service skills. I don’t know if he’s a manager or just a retail team member, but he’s got a very impressive approach with customers. He’s patient, helpful and makes people feel comfortable. I returned a pair of shoes. He made everything about the transaction pleasant. He didn’t give me a hard time. In fact he made me feel very comfortable by offering exchange options. When I said I prefer a refund, he was accommodating. He is the total opposite of an unpleasant sales person. He is opposite of defensive. What he definitely IS, is very understanding, cooperative and has a great skill with dealing with the public.
I shop in all sorts of shoe stores, from Payless to Lord & Taylor.
I can’t stress enough how Jonathan makes a local neighborhood working class shoe store feel get a 5-​star rating in attentiveness & customer service. Jonathan makes customers feel comfortable. Even when I express that some of the shoes felt uncomfortable, he accommodated with suggestions & offered to order a larger size that might have not been in the store. Jonathan is a huge asset to this business.
Businesses need more people like Jonathan, with great energy and a great positive attitude.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It’s the quality of the merchandise.
I buy Cross Trekkers sneakers which get exposed to moisture during my work. They used to hold up for about 3 – 4 months. Now it’s 2 – 3 months and in the garbage they go. They’re $ 30, frequently used by trades people, and I’ve read a similar review. I contacted the company and explained the situation and they really had very little to say. I just bought another competitors model which looks similar, is far better constructed and cost considerably less. Although $ 30 is fairly inexpensive for sneakers, the vamp (area above toes), toe box (front of sneaker) and the upper sides rot quickly.
While you certainly might pay less, at least get something for your money. Certainly the company should respond with an explanation about whether this is just the wrong selection of their merchandise. But they didn’t.

Great place to buy some shoes for your fast growing kids, cause the minute you buy them it will probably take them less than 6 months to outgrow them again…
