Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa

Please don’t waste your money on this run-​down hotel. Id you call the front desk and ask for anything including repairs of amenities, they respond yes but won’t actually do anything. Everything is run down and old. Lots of things don’t work. No cooling available during the hot summer days. Not satisfied with this.

Last week was my second time staying at the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa, and I couldn’t be more impressed! I have stayed there each time I have come into town for the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, and I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else! The staff is incredibly friendly, and will do whatever they can to help you out. I had forgotten my MS medication, and the staff made sure to go to the post office and pick it up for me. (Pro tip: There is no mail delivery in the town. You must have things delivered to the post office, where the entire town has P.O. Boxes set up. A special thank you to the blonde male for really helping me out, and to the blonde female who was there last year (I only saw her once this year) who drove me around so that I didn’t have to walk as much in the dark.
The beds are incredibly comfortable. If I could have taken it with me, I would! (I promised I’d look at what type of mattress and padding they used during my stay this year, and forgot!) On top of that, the Vons grocery store is only half a mile away, and there is a Rite Aid a block up for those times you need snacks, or an extra tooth brush. The hotel is very quiet, which makes for a relaxing trip. I don’t know what some of these people are talking about when it comes to outdated rooms. My room was very welcoming and inviting. Plus, with how attentive the staff is, I doubt that they would just ignore a complaint. There are only one or two people working the desk at a time during off season, so just be patient with them. They are working hard to make sure that everyone is happy! I highly recommend this hotel. See you next year!

My husband and I planned a last minute trip to Mammoth, and they gave us a reservation with no hassle. Our room was clean, inviting and super comfortable. They were also very welcoming of our dog. We cannot wait to stay here again on our next trip to Mammoth! :)

Ch ch changes– haven’t looked at this place in over a decade but grabbed a couple adjoining rooms (last minute) and was extremely pleased with the recent upgrades. First & foremost their staff was absolutely impressive and did a great job handling my high maintenance crew. Rooms were clean and upgraded, shuttle driver was great, and the morning coffee was a great touch. This place reminds me of the ski lodges from decades ago.

Average and overpriced! The rooms are small and they need some upgrades. Will never stay here again

Great all-​around place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a mid-​range cost hotel. There are more expensive places, and you can find them for cheaper, but Sierra Nevada is a fantastic value for everything that they offer.
They have pretty much all the amenities, with pool, hot tub, steam room, wifi, in-​room utilities like coffee/​fridge/​microwave. They have some pretty cool extras too, like mini-​golf, an in-​house bar, neighboring restaurants, and a kids area. You can’t beat the location, it’s right in the middle of one of the best parts of town.
I’ve stayed here a few times. I generally prefer staying in a condo, but I just found out they have chalets too!

After an incredible meal at Jimmy’s Taverna my husband and I went to the spa for massages. We were dually impressed with the service we received; he had a deep tissue massage and I had the hot rocks massage. When we arrived the receptionist gave us white robes and towels. We then spent some time in the sauna. After our massages we relaxed in the steam room. I recommend bringing a swim suit if you plan to use these facilities. We left very relaxed, and it made aprés skiing SO much more enjoyable. I highly recommend taking advantage of this gem of a spa. Looking forward to our next visit.

This quaint hotel is located within walking distance to the village and has an amazing view from the hot tub perfect for an apres soak after a great day on the mountain! Perfect for casual weekend visitors or families in town for a vacation week. We had an amazing time and the management/​staff were accommodating and eager please. Can’t wait to come back!

An excellent spot. I’m very picky and we loved our room. We stayed in room 114 and it was awesome! Large, cabin feel. Cute kitchen with nice things and a good mini refrigerator. The bed was large and toasty and comfy. Loved the bathroom! Spa and separate giant shower with large sprayer, great pressure and nice temperature. The bar was awesome and fun. Only flaw in bedroom was the screaming baby and clomping up n down the stairs outside. Love this place all in all.

Great hotel in Mammoth! It is very clean and nice… the hotel feels very much like a cabin. The lobby has a fireplace, pool table, a small bar, offers coffee in the morning, and hot cocoa in the evenings!
The staff is extremely nice and accommodating! Rhonda, the general manager, is amazing and so is the rest of the front desk staff. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, and I recommend going to the spa too. It has a steam room, sauna and a nice shower for both men and women. There is also an outdoor jacuzzi which feels amazing after a long day of being on slopes.
They also offer free shuttle services to and from the village and to the gondola (which takes you right to the ski lifts at Canyon Lodge).
They are truly exceptional and go above and beyond with customer service. Can’t wait to come back!

Check in staff was very hospitable and accommodating, allowed for an early check in and met our accommodation requests.
We booked with Expedia and the Expedia staff had gotten our room request incorrect and told us we would be staying in a king suite with a fireplace and kitchenette, however, had us booked in a deluxe King instead. Staff upgraded us without hassle, and the room is beautiful and exceeded our expectations with a fireplace, an amazing plush King bed, a kitchenette and a beautiful mountain view!!!
We will definitely be coming back and recommending this to our family and friends.

After a hellish 16 hour car trip the day before due to mudslides in so cal, my fiancé and I stopped here unexpectedly for a night to relax. The hotel staff was so nice and accommodating and upgraded our room for us :) We ended up in one of the newly remodeled rooms complete with fireplace, plush king size bed, and modern bathroom.
This room is gorgeous! Great mountain views and decorated nicely. We were on the second floor so we had a nice high ceiling which added to the ambiance. The bathroom has beautiful tile on the floor and even a floor warmer for your feet! The toilet seat also has a warming feature and the shower and tub were wonderful.
We probably couldn’t afford this place in peak season but in the off season (October) it was affordable for us. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. The oversized hot tub outside is great too!

I had such a great experience staying here over Labor Day weekend. I initially booked here because they’re dog friendly, which is a HUGE positive, plus they don’t have breed restrictions.
–I arrived a little before 2pm, check in isn’t until 4pm, but they got us into a room right when we arrived.
–Keep in mind, they do charge a $ 25/​night resort fee. But I didn’t feel like I was being ripped off because they actually have a ton of amenities available for free, including free mini golf!
–Rooms were super clean, no dog smell at all. Nice big bathrooms, really comfy beds.
–Great location. There are a ton of restaurants and shops within a short walk.
–Parking is easy, and even on a holiday weekend was never an issue finding a spot close to our room.
Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. I don’t have a single complaint, and I’m usually pretty picky with hotels.

I had high expectations for my stay here after reading the Unilocal reviews. The prices here are pretty decent for the area and the location of the hotel is great, but everything else is just ok.
I was expecting a nice glass of champagne, since so many people wrote about that in the reviews. Nope, but that was ok. What was NOT ok was that the front desk man was grumpy. I had called a couple days prior to ask if there are any accommodations, since it was my parents’ 26^th anniversary. They mentioned that we were eligible for an upgraded room, but the man in front said it was 100% booked. That is fine, whatever, but he just kind of left it at that. Nothing more. I was asking him, if there is nothing else that he can do or just any other accommodations available, and he just mumbled, went to the back, and gave me a whole bottle of champagne. Thanks.
The hotel room is decent. That’s all I can say.

I ended up making a last minute booking through Hotel Tonight on July 15^th after stepping off the trails of Mammoth Lakes. Was looking forward to taking a hot shower and resting my feet and legs.
The property itself looked lovely and the remodel is nice. I was excited to find this hidden gem until I tried to check in. There was one lonely guy at the counter and several customers lined up with requests/​questions and the phone was ringing off the hook. He was clearly over his head. I felt for the guy… been in that situation myself.
When it was my turn for check in, it was not welcome news that I had used Hotel Tonight to book my reservation. There were mummblings and grumblings from the clerk. Apparently their «system had crashed» earlier that day and everything was a bit of a mess. Tried making small talk but honestly I just wanted to get to my room… until I swiped my key card and discovered I was given someone else’s room. And their stuff was still in it! Back to the reception area to stand in the line again. This time there were several people there complaining that their key cards didn’t work… and it sounded like this had already happened numerous times.
Got that sorted out and could finally wash off the grime of the trail. The property itself is nice. The bed was comfy.
Upon check out the next day I was hoping the «system issues» would have been cleared up. Unfortunately no. Same guy at the counter but the additional of a woman to help. They couldn’t give me a receipt because of system issues (which I knew would be a problem for me in the future). The woman wrote down my room number and email address and I was told a receipt would be sent to me. A day or so later I get a survey email addressed to someone else, using my email address… no receipt yet, but I do have pending charges to my credit card for a room I already paid with through Hotel Tonight. This is going to be fun to deal with for sure!
Sierra Nevada Resort, pull yourself together! I want to love you… but I also expect just a small scrap of customer service when I go on vacation. Service that was not given at your resort. With so many choices in Mammoth Lakes why would anyone want to stay at a place that makes you feel like they’re doing you a favor by checking you in? Everyone has a bad day so I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt.

A summertime review…
If you are running the Mammoth Half Marathon, the Sierra Nevada Resort is literally feet away from the finish line!
As one of the partnering resorts of the Mammoth Half, the Sierra Nevada Resort offered discounted rates, which is always a plus. Instead of the Deluxe King Room’s regular rate of $ 199 per night, we booked for $ 159. With fees including «Resort» ($ 25), «Transient Occupancy Tax» ($ 23.92), and «Tourism Business Improvement District» ($ 1.84), our rate bumped to $ 209.76. It’s rather expensive, in my estimation, but crossing the finish line and slipping then into the resort’s jacuzzi within minutes carried weight.
But there was a «slight» problem…
The jacuzzi, in giving it a try the day before the race, was lukewarm at best; and the jets had no muscle at all. With bugs floating nearer and nearer – who cleans this thing? – we decided to enjoy the steam room instead and hope for the best after running. I mean, we’ve paid the resort fees, so there shouldn’t be a problem, right? Wrong! The day of the race, a special event had booked the entire pool and jacuzzi area – from 11am to 6pm, mind you – so we were out of luck anyway. (I guess we could have been informed – I’d booked months in advance – but we weren’t, and I didn’t raise a fuss.)
That aside…
We enjoyed our stay. And in returning to Mammoth on future outings, I’m sure we’d give Sierra another go. I will say, though, the king sized bed was super comfortable! The free wi-​fi was slow and laboring, but we weren’t in true need; the resort’s location was accessible within walking distance to The Stove Restaurant – I love this place; and the parking is free. Another plus was the free coffee and tea in the lobby for any and all early risers. Relaxing at the resort’s front porch and sharing the beautiful sunrise with a few scouting chipmunks was a great way to experience the morning’s clean, mountain air!
Sierra Nevada Resort, I’m sure we’ll see you again. Now get on that jacuzzi!

Spa was perfect. Brand new. Clean. Steam and sauna are brochure good-​looking. That cool west coast mountain rustic vibe throughout.
Staff was super friendly to begin with, but when i told them about my special valentine’s day surprise for my fiancè, they didn’t hesitate to help me arrange a bottle of champagne and some roses.
Day of, staff and service continued to be stellar. After lemon ice water and tea in the waiting room, they handed us big plush robes and fresh slippers and led us to locker rooms. More lodge vibe going in locker rooms, wood/​rustic, but perfectly clean and new.
Hit steam for a minute to loosen up, steam room hot and smelled clean and fresh. *Sometimes steam rooms dont stay hot in between intervals and smell like sweat — this one didnt suffer from either issue; well done. Nice marble and stone interior. Lights could be a touch dimmer, but i also liked being able to see that it was clean.
Came out and our massage therapists were ready to go on time for our couples massage. Super friendly again. Room nice, clean, smelled good. Perfect chill music, not that sometimes annoying asian stuff either, more Native American meets Moby tune. Table super plush and sheets were softest I’ve ever felt. 80 minute massage was perfect. We get a lot of massages and these therapists knew what they were doing. I say massage therapist rather than masseuse because good therapists understand the body more like a doctor and our therapists at this spa were what i call massage therapists.
I know this seems like a kiss-​ass review, but they deserve it. Check out my other reviews, I’m not afraid to speak my mind in the interest of making the world a better place. For a kid from the e coast, «west coast service» can be sleepy. Sierra Nevada Resort Spa didn’t suffer from the sunshine effect at all, they were on it. Secondly, i love clean/​new facilities and this place has ‘em. Lastly, Mammoth doesn’t have many options for a spa like this and these guys nail it.

Whaaaaaat in the hell??? What’s the catch? Honestly, everyone in our crew, we kept asking each other, «C’mon, what’s the catch? There has to be a catch.»
I’m literally writing this while waiting in the lobby for a free chair massage… and while waiting, I was given a glass of champagne.
Anyway, after checking in, there was a lady passing out champagne. So awesome. I think her name is Court. She’s in charge of hospitality and is awesome, always attentive, asking how she can help.

The room was only $ 150 on a holiday weekend, which is stupid cheap. Of course, there’s the standard resort fees ($ 25/​night).
I usually stay at Juniper or The Village Lodge. Those places are nice for sure, super convenient, but I PROMISE you, they can’t even compare to the amount of to service. It’s not even close. I don’t want to bash them but it’s; «Here’s your key, eff off.» It’s almost odd how much they got out of of their way to take of you here. It’s honestly to the point of you wondering why are they trying so hard. Apparently this used to be dumpy years ago but a mew owner took over and sunk millions into it. I can’t confirm that all I know is that ‘now’ it’s amazing.
I was in the hot tub and everyone was all saying the same thing, how it’s almost a secret and they don’t want to tell their friends. The funny thing is, as we were talking, the bartender came out and asked about drinks so of course I ordered one ;)
Don’t let the cheap prices fool you, this is AWESOME. Dollar for dollar, I promise you, there’s no better place in Mammoth.

My thoughtful boyfriend took me to Mammoth this past February to celebrate my birthday/​Valentines day.
The water in the chalet doesn’t get hot enough… A cold shower after a day on the slopes is not fun. We had to brace ourselves every time we were in the shower… not fun when it’s freezing out… They should really address this issue because nobody wants a cold shower after being out in the snow. 2 stars for the cute décor though. Beds were very squeaky. (I’m barely a hundred pounds and the bed squeaked when I rolled around)

Das es hier eigentlich ein Winterziel ist und wir nur auf der Durchreise sind, haben wir nicht viel erwartet.
Die Lobby ist nett gemacht. Das Areal hat mehrere Gebäude und kostenlose Parkplätze. Die Zimmer sind schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber dennoch sauber. Luxus darf man nicht erwarten.
