Well the chipped beef gravy taste like it’s straight from a can, biscuits were very good, the omelet is really a egg burrito made with egg beaters :/but the corned beef hash with two eggs over easy(cooked to perfection!) and hash browns(were absolutely fantastic) and the buttered rye toast was great! Stick with traditional breakfast and you have got yourself a winner! This is a great local restaurant and the waitresses were on top of things ! I want to go for lunch next ! Definitely a yes for breakfast!

Service was excellent. Drinks kept filled, friendly, and questions answered. I had French toast and bacon. Bacon was extra crisp as requested and French toast didn’t need syrup. Building was older but seemed very clean. Hope to come back next trip in town.

In a word, HORRIBLE! Not the Satterwhites of years past. Meat loaf looked and tasted like it came out of a can, gravy looked and tasted like it came out of a can, Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it came out of a can. My husband can eat anything and he said it was gross, my grilled pastrami and cheese tasted like it had been cooked in rancid oil and it did not have any cheese! $ 25 for garbage. This is the first bad review I have ever written on Unilocal or elsewhere and never has it been more deserved satterwhites should be plowed down and someone should just step in and build a restaurant that knows what it is doing. If you have fond memories of this place, just keep them in your heart but for the love of God don’t put anything of theirs in your stomach

This little hole in the wall has been here forever, and it shows, but in a charming hole in the wall way. They were very busy(the after church crowd), but we found a table after a short wait. Note: don’t wait around to be seated, or you’ll be waiting awhile. The thing to do seemed to be to stake out a table as soon as the previous occupants left — even if their dirty dishes are still on the table. When in Rome and all that! While the bacon was just meh(it reminded me of Oscar Meyer, and that’s not a good thing), the pancakes were nice & fluffy. Unfortunately, they serve that whipped spread stuff instead of real butter — ick! — and the syrup dispenser was nearly empty, so we had to wait for more, but still, I’d definitely order those pancakes again, although I might smuggle in my own butter next time. Prices are very reasonable, and I can see why those who have been coming here for years continue to do so, for sentimental reasons alone. We’ll see, this may become one in a rotation of breakfast spots.

Very impressed by one visit as my wife and I were looked for a «hole in the wall» type place. This didn’t disappoint at all. Great meal at a great price. Friendly service with a waitress who felt honest about providing a recommendation. Can’t wait to go back for the big breakfast.

I had not been here for two decades, but I never forgot Satterwhites«Mammoth Burger». I stopped in for breakfast this week and ordered a BLT Sandwich with hash browns and a glass of OJ. Great value and good food. Friendly old fashioned joint. My waitress informed me they stopped selling the meatloaf size mammoth burger 14 yrs ago. I don’t understand if that’s what they’re know for how can they just take it off the menu? At least have fun with it and offer a mammoth jr burger to keep the tradition.

This was out first visit since we moved here from Vegas. We were so excited to check out this little quaint restaurant. We were curious. Talk about good home cookin’ it was such a nice change from the Vegas strip… We had breakfast. Cooked to order, and the biscuits were light and fluffy. We will go back and check out lunch next time. You seat yourself — no waiting list — first come first served. It’s a small dining room but worth the wait. Will go again. Nice service.

So I also went here about 10 – 12 years ago with my dad and brother, and I remember it being good. Now that I’m here again it seems like the same great Satterwhite’s. As soon as we got inside we noticed it was packed which to me is a good thing because they seem to keep it packed here. All the servers are friendly and the menu has the best breakfast prices I have seen in a while for a small town restaurant. Nothing on the menu is overpriced and they really do have a great selection. The table setting includes a multitude of jams and other assorted accessories for eating. Overall a great place to eat, and we haven’t even gotten the food yet! I got the pancakes and bacon, and it is so good… I can’t say much else just come here and eat, its worth it. But come early, they close at 2 o’clock every day.

What’s a Los Angeles chick doing here? Let me tell you though, this is breakfast done right, and simple! Very affordable, fed three people for about $ 20. I wish there were more places like this in Los Angeles. If it was in Los Angeles, the hipsters would probably take over… My beau calls this a truck stop shop. Quite possibly so, but I can see why: The simplicity of the menu, you can’t expect or ask for more and you leave satisfied. I got the Scrapple. Would have loved that pig fat but it was all gone. The scrapple kinda tasted like a huge square of liver but lucky for you, I like liver. I would definitely come here again, no questions asked. Goochland showed this LA girl right.

I’m not sure why someone thought this was expensive as my husband and I got two huge breakfasts for under $ 20. The atmosphere is a read the paper, old school place to eat. Very homey with great breakfast. So homey in fact that it is all one room and you seat yourself. There’s a lot of charm there. I usually go for breakfast and find myself getting the«Biggest Breakfast in Town» with three over easy eggs, sausage, biscuits, and hash browns. Also offered are bacon, scrapple, fried apples and other southern staples. I will say that the hash browns are off the chain in a homemade anti fast food kind of way. Enjoy!

Great local place for breakfast and lunch. Some of the best corned beef hash here! And navy bean soup! Prices are okay.

This ancient Goochland/Richmond eatery radiates the need to get with the times. Even the roads out front are saying get on board or get out of the way, literally widening out to the entrance of this restaurant. Satterwhite’s is a little out of the way if you don’t live in the West End. It took us about 45 minutes to get here from Powhatan and certainly wasn’t worth it. Nearly every table was filled with 16 year old high school boys cracking jokes with poor taste and talking about their future dreams of Hampden Sydney. Ironically several of them discussed how they couldn’t afford certain things on the menu… Once I received my bill I realized why. For 3 pieces of French Toast(clearly Wonderbread or a lesser equivalent), the smallest piece of country ham ever, 1 biscuit with the blandest/worst sausage gravy ever, and 8 oz of bad coffee I got to spend an incredibly unjustified amount of $ 14 not including tip. $ 14!!! Are you high??? This is an $ 8 diner breakfast at best, but honestly that would have tasted better. I know this is a harsh review, but this is one place I truly feel is hyped up for absolutely no reason.

Classic American Diner. Currently boasting the biggest breakfast in town. Has classics like scrapple and porkroll on their menu. I had an open faced turkey sandwich, served with mashed potatoes and smothered in thick gravy. Totally acceptable. The turkey was fresh. The gravy might have been canned? Our server forgot to put our order in, which ordinarily would have infuriated me… but since my lemon chess pie slice was on the house, I can’t complain. The pie was good, the price was right, and I left happy. Hooray for Satterwhites.

Okay, I last went here about 15 years ago. They were known for their monster burger(which you’d win something if you could eat). It was actually more like a huge meatloaf — this I wasn’t aware of until I received it. They’d asked me if I wanted cheese on it and, of course, I said yes. What I got was a patty that was approximately 12 inches in diameter and, sure enough, in the middle, was a square of cheese. Ha ha. So we went up last week after we dropped off my eldest at UVA. I got the big breakfast and it was okay; it definitely filled me up and allowed me to skip a couple of meals. They no longer do the mammoth burger, but everything else was the same.

Satterwhite’s has been around seemingly forever. They serve great quality food at reasonable prices. I had breakfast with a friend and it was fantastic. They serve some amazing iced tea in HUGE glasses… There is nothing surprising on the menu except the variety and prices. There is little competition out here in this neck of the woods so the fact that the food is so good is a nice surprise. Breakfast is served all day and they serve«the biggest breakfast in town». All the southern staples are on the menu, bring you appetite… the portions are generous!
