Avanti Day Resort

After being an Avanti client for several years, I will NEVER EVER go back! I wanted to book my 50^th bday party at Avanti and invite 11 of my closest friends. I was in for a hair service and asked my stylist to speak with the person in charge of the spa, so I could get some details on my birthday celebration. I spoke with Dawn, who works in the spa and she told me to stop by anytime & we would work on party details. I left the salon and figured out a date to return.
About a week later, I stopped by Avanti to purchase conditioner and talk to Dawn. I asked her if Saturday, Aug 13^th was opened. Is was. I let her know that I would invite about 8 – 9 women, but had others in mind. She said «no problem». She said a contract would be sent to me and I would have to complete it and return it. A deposit would be due at that time to hold the spot. I said «fine». She was also happy to inform me that Avanti accepts Spa Finder (SF). I said «great, because I would really like to invite 11 women + myself, and have a party of 12». I confirmed with her that I could also use SF for the deposit as well as the balance and she confirmed that it was acceptable.
I got home that day and sent 11 individual text messages to my 2 sisters and girlfriends, inviting them to my 50^th birthday. I asked if they would like a massage, facial, mani/​pedi, etc. After confirming everyone’s availability and spa services (7 massages, 3 facials, 1 head/​neck massage, and 1 mani/​pedi), I completed the contract and emailed it back to Avanti.
I called to talk to Dawn to confirm she received my contract. Michelle Aguiar picked up the phone, but would not transfer my call to Dawn. I thought this was odd because Dawn was the one who stopped by to see me when I was getting my hair done and also because Dawn was the one I met with face-​to-​face when planning my 50^th birthday party. Michelle said, I handle all spa parties, so I said fine.
Michelle told me that a $ 50 deposit is due for each person. I said, «fine, I will drop off $ 600 in SF GCs so the deposit is paid». She said, «we don’t take SF GCs for this type of party». I have to admit, I was a bit confused. What did she mean when she said, «this type of party — was it because I was turning 50?» I had already met with Dawn twice, face-​to-​face, and she confirmed, that SF was accepted. I had also went to Costco and purchased the GCs, once I learned that they were accepted.
At that moment, I asked to speak with Dawn, because she was the one who confirmed that SF GCs were accepted. I got on the phone with Dawn to see if I had misheard what the had said. Let me quote what Dawn said on Avanti’s recorded line, «Mary, please, please do NOT tell them that I told you that SF is accepted. I will get fired!» So, I asked her, if SF IS or IS NOT accepted. She said, «yes, SF is accepted, just NOT for your party». I asked her why, still trying to get to the bottom of it. She said, «SF is accepted if you have a party of 3 or 4, but for a party this large, we can’t accept SF. This was the first time I was hearing that SF, is accepted, but not for a party of 12. I told her, NP, I have 2 sisters that will be celebrating my 50^th with me and I can have one call for 4 people, and the other call for 4 people and I can call for 4 people and then SF would be accepted, and she said «yes». This response, to me, was very strange. She said, «let me see what I can do» and we will call you back.
A few days later, I get a call from Michelle again. She says, let me quote, «I know Dawn said you could use the SF for your party, but because there are 12 women and because it’s on a Saturday, we won’t honor it». This was the first time I was hearing that, because I booked on a Saturday, SF would not be accepted. I looked at the SF GCs and NO WHERE on the GC does it say, «we accept SF, but NOT for large parties that are on a Saturday». Michelle went to say, «honey, I know you don’t work in this industry, but we have to pay SF a fee, and Luda, the owner, does NOT want to lose 20% on party of 12 on a Saturday». I am listening to this on the phone thinking, why do I care or need to know what Avanti is paying SF because I am using these GCs on a Saturday in Aug? Why would a client even need to know this. At this point, I am not sure why Michelle is sharing these details. I then let Michelle know that I already purchased the SF GCs from Costco and asked that I speak with the owner. She said, «the owner will not talk to you because she has a ‘management team’ that handles these types of things’ and that a mgr would get back to me.
Phone call from Avanti mgr, «this is what we are going to do for you, we will give you $ 10 off on each massage and facial, and I did some research, I called Costco, and you can return the SP GCs that you purchased». I really wish I had more typing space. Are you kidding me? Avanti’s customer service sucks! I certainly hope they fill their 12 spots for Aug 13. I will NEVER be back!!!

I came here for a Christmas party for work which was for about 10 of us. We all got massages and had a very enjoyable relaxing day. If you are looking to get pampered for the day this is the place to go. We had our lunch there as well which was great and we all go robes and slippers to wear so we were comfy. Looking forward to going back for a couples massage!

I will never go there again. Had a facial appointment at 1215. The girl kept me waiting for a half hour. I had to go looking for her. When I finally found her, she was so unapologetic. I had someplace I had to be after my appointment. Found them rude and inconsiderate of their customers time.

I love going to Avanti. Everyone is smiling and happy. I love my hair by Jetta immaculate salon and staff always up to date on styles you must go

I recently had half head highlights/​lowlights with another stylist from who I saw last time, as I really liked her hair photos on the Avanti FB site. She did a great job & got the foils spot on the root (one of the reasons I wanted to see someone else; last stylist I used did not). My ³⁄₅ stars though has nothing to do with the color as it is great & been getting many compliments: it’s the price. When I scheduled the service I was never advised that as a «master stylist» the stylist I chose has prices almost double for half head than what is stated as «$ 85+». Obviously to pay a little more for a higher level stylist is not unexpected, it should be within reason– but to be told $ 150 is her charge for half head when checking out and then another $ 75 for lowlights is not at all reasonable (the lowlights charge says $ 65+…). Lowlights were applied while doing highlights for a partial– $ 225 total? Maybe a full head, cut, & style I would expect that but a half head, especially because the same amount of foils are being applied whether it is 1 color or 2-​highlights/​lowlights? Inevitably, the owner ever so slightly reduced my charge as a 1-​time courtesy as I insisted that is pretty deceptive to not advise a client that a charge will practically double for the partial (not even entertaining the additional lowlights because that was not discussed when I first set the appointment up), & I personally have no issue paying for good service; the issue is misleading pricing because $ 85+ should not almost double… and then another $ 75 for lowlights while doing a partial foil… I do have my next appointment scheduled, however due to the shock of the price which I should have been advised would practically double for the partial highlights due to the stylist being a «master» I really have to decide if I am going to come back. Although $ 85+ means it can increase, to become almost doubled is what I find very misleading… I would highly suggest to the owner and GM that since Avanti’s prices do significantly vary based on stylist, I recommend their site/​brochure break it down (level one, level two, etc…) so people know what to expect within reason, since I don’t think most people would ever expect $ 85 to become $ 150 for partial foils; and then $ 75 for lowlights that were being applied with the highlights for a partial (mind you no blow out or cut).

Avoid it like a plague! Really bad experience there. «Stylists» dont know what they are doing. They completely screwed with both cut and color. The people over there, especially the manager and owner, are not professional at all. There are plenty of other good salon/​day spas, save your hair/​money/​time!

I absolutely love avanti!!! Jeta does my hair and I won’t ever leave her. She is amazing. Every person working here is so friendly, the spa is spotless, and they will go out of their way to make you happy. I highly recommend it here!!! I get my facials and my hair done here

I had my hair washed by Melaina — she is so sweet and knowledgeable about all of the hair products there. She also gave me an amazing head massage — it sounds like her specialty!
Another wonderful person at Avanti is Alice — she is always sweet, friendly and has a smile on her face. She is super helpful.
The best part for last — another fabulous haircut from Ella! She always knows how to make my hair look fabulous! She is so sweet and I always get compliments on my hair when I walk out — even from strangers!
For all of these reasons I keep coming back to Avanti.

Giving 2 stars to be nice.
I used to love coming here. It is hardly a day spa. The relaxation room is loud and you can hear all the noise from the salon. Last time I was there were no clean robes available so we had to wait before we changed. When I finally got into the relaxation room I went to get a heated neck wrap from the heater to find out that machine was empty and turned off. When I asked for one I was told that they dont have those anymore.
I had a hydro facial which was okay (the foot soak was ice cold and she didn’t do that great of a job). Last time I was there for a vitamin C facial and this was recommend to me so decided to give it a try. It is a bit more pricey than a regular facial so I brought a coupon ($ 10 off any new service, not new customer, NEW service) when I checked out I went to use my coupon I was told that I could not use it since I have had a facial before. When I said that I never tried this particular facial before and the salon offers many of them so I should be able to use the coupon). She said the coupons are impossible to use if you have a facial or massage before and they are really meant for new customers.
Absolutely absurd.
Beautiful salon, the spa part is a bit dated and in my opinion not worth the money.

This review is from an experience a few months ago but I haven’t returned. Here’s why. I’ve been here on and off a number of times now and i have to say I just can’t get over a few poorly run aspects of the staff and the overall service.
I was given a free manicure because they actually completely botched the manicure fo my brother’s wedding so I went back when my sister and my sister in law wanted me to have a girls day with them. Instead of just getting my free manicure I decided to treat myself to a pedicure as well. The overall experience was not thrilling and then what happened at the end was the coup de gras of the entire situation. There’s a few points to be made:
1– The woman who re-​did my manicure was friendly but yet again a Veluxe manicure which is supposed to last ONE week didn’t even last 24 hours without chipping. Totally absurd. And i do nothing out of the ordinary in my day.
2– AFTER leaving and paying for my pedicure, the Avanti staff had the nerve to call me and tell me that the girls up front said I DIDNT PAY. SO glad I paid with my Discover card and had my receipt. I told the woman on the phone this and she said she would double check. I, myself, proactively called back and said did they find it and the woman on the phone said yes they did and she apologized. What good does an apology do after you call up a customer and ACCUSE me of not paying and then add insult to injury and tell me that it wasn’t her but the girls up front that went back to her «in a huff» to say I didn’t pay… MAYBE if these girls weren’t so caught up in bad mouthing a fellow co-​worker then they would have paid attention to REMEMBER that I paid.
So not only did my manicure not last but the staff is incompetent. Sorry Avanti, you won’t win my business ever again. I gave it a shot to redeem themselves and they proved that the last time I went should have been indeed been my last.

I came here today with a group of 4 people. We all had different services, ranging from an over-​priced facial to a therapeutic massage and a hot stone massage, and a prenatal massage. The price for the massages are well worth the quality. I personally did the therapeutic massage by masseuse, Jacqueline. She was FANTASTIC! She listened to me in regards to areas of concern and couldn’t ask for more!
When I first pulled up to Avanti, it was in a shopping center which raised an eyebrow. However, the quality of service was great. Unfortunately, when you first arrive it was a hair salon with clothes, makeup, skin care products for sale. The music that was playing must have been some kind of Pandora techno music. Once my party was brought back, we sat in the tranquility room. The ambience was phenomenal! They had lemon water, mimosas, grapes cheese and crackers. Loose tea to drink. Really comfortable red couches ;)
They had the standard Sauna room, showers and lockers. The staff did not push us to leave at all! Overall, I would return to this spa. And I would recommend Avanti if someone would like a nice relaxing time and does not mind paying for a little pricey services.

Walking in, we thought we were in for the win for our couples treatment. The young lady who greeted us at the door, and also checked us in was great. The ambiance was very nice, and overall from a visual standpoint the place seems to be really top notch.
As for the treatments, mine was horrible, and my girlfriends was great. I felt as though mine was rushed, it was not intimate whatsoever, and my therapist was completely all over the place and rushed while servicing me (thighs, feet, calfs, back, feet, shoulders, etc).
The table was interesting, kinda like a water bed… It was also obnoxiously loud every time it pumped water through itself.
As I checked out, not one person asked how the treatments were, the girl who took payment from me should not be in the «service» industry. She was rude, cold, and could obviously care less about her job and the clients that come through the place. She in fact was the icing on the cake as far as my never returning.
Overall, not so appealing on the outside, once you walk in, you may think you’re in for a top notch treatment. I wish you the best, and hope you don’t mind throwing away money for service that’s below sub par.
Again our initial interaction with the young lady who checked us in was great, and it went down hill from the moment she walked away.

Well hmm this place is in the middle of no where (at least to me). It is a beautiful spa, which has tons of services. I came here to experience the Razal signature experience.
Service was great from the greeter to the masseuse.
The Razul room is a beautiful room, decorated like a palace. The ceiling looks the stars, the chairs which are heated are comfy but I think its definitely made for women lol, I didnt feel completely relaxed sitting there. So while you are in this room you are expected to rub 4 different types of mud/​clay on yourself or your partner. One is for the face, one for the body, legs and then the feet. Steam is shot through the air and at the end of this ceiling shouts out water like a rainshower to wash out the mud.
There is also a shower outside this room which has a steam built in too. Which is awesone.
Came out and felt refreshed and my skin was glowing lol
After that you either get a massgae or lay in this bed that makes you feel as you are floating in this water blanket. (You don’t get water on you)
Massage was great.
The food was good.
The mimosas are always awesome.
A great experience to have and to share with your significant other.

I came here as a gift for my husband. He works a lot so I wanted him to relax a little. We did a couples massage with the companion scrub.
The spa is absolutely beautiful! It is so tranquil and relaxing! Light snacks and drinks are easily accessible, lots of comfortable seating in the tranquil room, the sauna was extremely clean, and the locker rooms were to die for. They provide showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There are hair curlers, blow dryers, q-​tips, etc. all in the locker room for you to use if needed. The robes provided to you are so soft and smell fabulous.
The massage therapists we had were so sweet. They explained everything to us before and made sure we really relaxed the whole time. The scrub was so much fun and definitely a nice addition! My skin never felt so soft! The massage beds were water beds that gently pushed water back and forth the whole time, they were also heated. The experience was very relaxing and intimate. It definitely was nice having that quality time with my husband.
So even though I would gave this business 5 stars, the front desk staff is snobby. Everyone in the spa was super kind and sweet. The manager (maybe owner?) who asked us about our experience was also very kind and professional. They all went out of their way to make are we had everything we needed and were enjoying our experience. It was the girl that checked us in and out that was a little snobby. She was not friendly, continuing a conversation with another staff member as we checked out. I wasn’t going to let one person ruin the review for this salon though, because the rest of the staff was outstanding!

Amazing spa experience! The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is that the spa karma is disrupted when you have to step out into the hair salon to pay… techno-​pop music, hair driers, people talking and laughing loudly over the music made me cringe after an amazing afternoon of some of the best spa services I’ve ever had. Sheila gave me a facial that surpassed all others and Igor gave me a massage that transported me away from reality, with a sauna in between and a wonderful tranquility room. The desk staff was helpful, and I didn’t have any of the impolite behavior others had noted… it’s just sucks shock to go from peace and tranquility to a club environment that I felt the stress seeping back, which is very unfortunate given that they did everything else so well!
If this salon had you «check out» from inside the spa it would be the best in NJ.

Having been a patron of Avanti day spa for four years now I have never had a bad experience there. The staff is extremely attentive. The atmosphere at the salon is always up beat. I get compliments on my hair after every service from the spa, I can’t wait to go again.

Great staff friendly and they know what great service is. They have the greatest massage tables in the world tell them Doug sent you.

Okay so, Id like to say that this place is amazing due to the ambience but I just can’t.
The ambience is flawless, it’s like being in a little, luxuriously secluded oasis, it’s honestly paradise. I can’t even describe the ambience to you which is why it’s receiving a decent review. Due to this and the quality and luxury of the treatments, I find it well worth the high price tag.
Now let’s describe why I gave them 3 stars. I rated them lower because regardless of amazing ambience, the staff is incredibly snobby and rude and when you’re paying hundreds of dollars, you want to be treated with respect. You don’t want products to be pushed on you to buy as soon as you walk in the door.
Bottom line: worth it for the atmosphere and quality but the customer service is enough to make me walk in the other direction.

The spa services were good, however, the front desk staff (lady in Red reading glasses) was extremely unprofessional and rude and managed to overshadow the entire experience. After a lovely morning of a facial and massage (a prepaid birthday gift from my husband) it was totally ruined as I was blown off and ignored at the counter while trying to pay. I received another service on top of those 2 to which I tried to use a $ 10 birthday coupon I was mailed. You would have thought it was coming out of her paycheck or that I was keeping her from going home. I set it on the counter and she had the nerve to push it back to me and told me to use it next time! (have you ever?!) After I pushed to use it this time she shut down, talked to another employee, no eye contact, no receipt (I think she only took $ 5 off) and no thank you or goodbye! My husband went out of his way to get me a special gift that he spent a lot of money on. The fact that it was already paid for seemed to anger her. I can’t imagine why, you already have my money and what’s it to you?! Not to mention I have already been there for spa services and sent my mother there for the same. Never again and I promise to pass my experience to all my friends, neighbors and family.
I’m so disgusted with NJ salons acting like they are doing their patrons a favor! THIS IS YOUR JOB! WE PAY YOU!
A successful business is a business that treats the customer with respect. This is not that place.

This place is beautiful, very clean! I have had a few great experiences here! Monika is the best with doing pedicures! It’s pricey but nice treat!!! Every girl deserves to be here, mani pedi etc
