We stopped in for a little brunch, a pretravel meal for one of our party. Nice place, smaller then I thought it would be, actually, I didn’t think about it but it struck me as small, intimate. You order at the counter and the fare is brought to your table. I went with the basic breakfast. Typical scrambled eggs, but… the home fries were very good. I’m a home fry aficionado since my days as a youth eating at the White House diner in Forty Fort Pa. These HFs may have been the best. Sliced thin, crispy, smothered with diced onions. My only complaint… cold toast.

Been to Max Devros a few times — very tasty food, good prices in comparison to other local places. I always get the chilled salmon pita and sweet potato fries — so delish!!! The flavors are on point and everything is always served up fresh and made to order. I recommend this place to everyone in the area — only downside is twice I’ve had to walk away because all the tables are taken and I’m normally on a 1-hour lunch and can’t wait.

We are regulars and everything on the menu is always great here. You honestly can’t go wrong with anything– on my last visit I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing. My only complaint is that they aren’t open later for dinner!:)

Visited Max Devros for lunch today with the girlfriend and a friend. I’ve worked in Manasquan for a while but always after this restaurant was closed. I’m so glad we got the chance to stop in today. I had the steak and eggs breakfast sandwich with onions on it. The others had a Philly cheesesteak and scallop tacos. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions. Our meals were cooked to order and everything was tasteful and enjoyable. We will be back for sure! The menu is very extensive and there’s a lot to try now.

Went early morning, cold outside and all fans where on inside — making it very colddddd!!! U have to order at the counter — even though it’s a small diner with tables — then u seat urself — someone came to refill coffee but walked by our table which first and refilled the 1 reg. Couple cust. — then asked the next table only 2 ask myself and hubby last — this happened again as I was typing this. Food came out pancakes r very very very small. Breakfast special was looking good and tasted good. Pancakes were gooood.

Max Devros is a great local spot. Never had a bad bite. Eat here at least once a week. Always welcomed with a friendly smile by the staff, and the food comes out pretty quick.

Awesome sandwiches, creative and tasty. We had the«everything crusted chicken» with bacon and jam and the«grilled chicken wrap» that had blackened sunflower seeds and homemade Boursin cheese. Both were great. Extra points for crunchy sweet potato fries! Yum!

Thumbs up! Had an awesome breakfast plater. Eggs grits and turkey sausage. Wife had eggs and home fries which were made with onions and cooked perfect! Not to fond of the décor, the place is just plain and blah but the food makes up for it. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks for the awesome grits!

Place is excellent. The small unique restaurant the locals of the shore deserve. Prices are low, quality is high.

The sandwiches are excellent! The wait is pretty awful… because the sandwiches are excellent! Great food in small buildings. What do you expect? It’s New Jersey. Excellent place for lunch

Had my wedding prep catered in the morning so my bridesmaids and me wouldn’t be starving since we had a long day of wedding prep and photos before my actual wedding. I coordinated everything over the phone with the owner. Everything i ordered arrived promptly on time and everything was delicious! Excellent service and communication on my order. Made my day start off smoothly!

We are regulars here and are rarely not wowed by everything. Occasionally the soups are thin but always with killer flavor. It gets really crowded weekends and we sometimes change to take out because of that. The terrific waitresses remembr us and our drinks they can be abrupt sometimes When it’s busy. We love this place. But call ahead if uou don’t want to wait!

These sandwiches are creative and delicious! You can really tell that they went the extra mike in making the menu here. It is pretty much all sandwiches and salads but each and every item on the menu has a certain gourmet flair to it. So far I have had the Cuban, the cheese steak, and the big max all were delicious. The big max especially. The big max is the devros’ take on the big Mac and it is an amazingly delicious burger.(I don’t even like big macs) The best part about this place is that even through the quality of their sandwiches is sky high the prices are not. All of their sandwiches are reasonably priced with one caveat, fries are not included. Not that you need them because your sandwich will be huge! But should you choose to get some fries as well, you will find them to be of similar quality to the sandwiches, hand cut potatoes, lightly salted and fried to perfection. If you are looking for a great spot to grab lunch check out max devros you will not be disappointed. Edit! - Ignore the review above me, I have been to Max Devros many times, and I have never seen anything that I would describe as dirty. Also every time I have been there I have received very friendly service that had no problem tailoring my sandwiches to my personal preferences. Some people just seem to be looking to bash a place.

I can sum of this restaurant in one word… FILTHY! I am not from the area, but had a local business meeting so «yelped» restaurants where I could bring my boss and boss’s boss for lunch. Since this establishment consistently received 4 – 5 stars I thought I couldn’t go wrong; now I’m thinking that perhaps these reviews were made up by the owner’s family and staff. We walked into this small«homey» looking restaurant, where at least 5 of the 7 or 8 tables were littered with dirty dishes, used napkins and utensils. My boss went to the counter to order and because he has a nut allergy, inquired about the chicken salad. The girl at the counter was extremely RUDE, giving him one word answers and rolling her eyes when he requested that his sandwich be made a certain way. She was very inflexible telling him that certain things were pre-prepared earlier in the day and could not be changed. When I ordered my lunch, I mentioned to the girl at the counter in a very nice way that many of the tables were dirty and asked for someone to clear them. She bit my head off, telling me she’d «get around to it whenever she gets a chance.» We sat down and waited for our food while I apologized for bringing my guests to a restaurant where we had to look at other people’s dirty dishes. The matzah ball soup that I ordered came, and it was the lamest excuse of matzah ball soup I’ve ever seen. It was nothing but clear BEEF broth with two very small dough balls… no noodles or anything else, and by the way, matzah ball soup is made with Chicken broth not beef broth. The sandwiches were tasty, but eating them while looking at those filthy tables was difficult. Had I not been with other people, I would have had my sandwich wrapped to go. The bathroom was disgusting too; wet toilet paper all over the floor and out of hand soap. When we left, we passed a little diner up the street where my boss commented, «we should have gone there.» I was extremely embarrassed that I brought people with whom I wanted to make a good impression, to such a dirty and poorly run establishment. This place was disgusting!

We got this place for take out after hearing good things from online reviews and a few friends. I got the hot chicken cutlet sandwich which had some okay flavors but was lacking a certain sum thing. What it did have was a lot of oil that soaked and saturated the bread to the point of inedible mushiness. I had to take the bread off and eat cutlet with a home made salad. Not what you pay 8 dollars for a sandwich for. My girlfriend got the roasted pork an was satisfied with the meat but was struggling to find the sweet onion bacon marmalade that would make any mouth water. Without that it lacked the necessary zing and flavor. On top of that here was a solid pork bone the size of a quarter in her sandwich!!! Don’t know how you miss that. Maybe it was the Saturday crew or fact it was take out but this was a HUGE Disappointment.

I stumbled upon this place by accident on my lunch break one day and I am damn happy I did! When you first take a look at this place, you would think it is just another run down deli, but this is so far from reality. Their menu is very innovative for a breakfast/lunch spot and you can not beat the price. The roast pork sandwich with manchego, mustard, sweet onions and bacon marmalade was the bomb and their onion rings are some of the best I have ever had. Today I had a Mexican salad with chorizo, black beans, fried queso blanco, roasted corn, tortilla chips and mixed greens. It was huge! You will never spend more than 10 bucks for a fulfilling lunch and a drink. I plan on going back until I have tried everything on the menu.

I would have given 5 stars but on the chicken special they forgot the bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion, I just asked for no cheese, but looks like they forgot everything! Although, my sandwich was missing all that, it was still good. I would have said something but it was crowded and I was starving, so whatever. The other order was chicken hummus which was very good as well as the sweet potato fries. I will probably go back.

Wow. Loved the breakfast here. Best pancakes I’ve had in a while. Very interesting menu was a surprise. I’ve been back often to try some of the standouts. Shrimp burger was delicious!

Finally, a contender for casual, inexpensive eats in Manasquan that lives up to city standards! I was immediately heartened by the gallery of Art Culinaire magazines that provide the only decoration in this simple, deli-like space. No business has lasted very long in this spot, so it is my dearest wish that Max Devros’ superior cooking sticks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner(they’re open until 8 pm) are served up by friendly local teenagers and two chefs, who have been on the line grilling up burgers and constructing carefully-made, creative sandwiches every time we’ve hit the place up. A breakfast burrito is available in veggie or chorizo versions($ 5); my meaty choice was so substantial I was stuffed until dinnertime. A homemade veggie burger($ 5.50) was composed of fresh, identifiable vegetables, lavishly deep-fried and topped with a piquant red-onion cabbage slaw for crunch. My friend’s cheesesteak and egg breakfast sandwich($ 5.50) was so filling he could only eat half! There’s no waitress service here — head up to the counter to place your order and wait for the girls to run your food. The only complaint I can lodge is that the iced tea and coffee is truly terrible — worse than hospital cafeteria sludge. Fix the caffeined liquids and a fifth star is yours to keep.
