At Advantage Computer Services, we offer personal service for your personal computer. We can fix broken LCD screens, defective Hard Drive or broken DC Jack, just to name a few. We also repair Macintosh computers, including iMac and Macbooks. From Apple devices to Andriods, broken screens and water damage to charging ports, our Mobile Technicians can fix anything. And if you need virus removal or data recovery, even upgrades or overhauls to your system, we’ve got you covered.

History

Established in 1996.

Owners Ken and Stacie Campbell began their company in the basement of the house in the suburbs of DC. When word spread about their outstanding computer services the requests grew. The need for computer repair and new computers was in high demand in the 90’s so the couple decided to take a leap in faith and open a retail store in Manassas.

Together they opened Advantage Computer Services with the vision of providing customers superior service by way of quality you would expect and the satisfaction you deserve. ACS has grown thanks to all our employees and customers. Our mission is to provide excellent service at a low price. We look forward to helping you solve all your computer needs!

Business Owner

Owner Ken is a graduate of TESST Electronics and Computer Institute, Courses at VT and many certificates and continues to go through training to stay on top of today’s technology. Ken started pursing his interest in the computer field by running onsite service calls to local businesses in Northern Virginia. With over 20 years of computer experience, Ken brings real-​world solutions to his customers. Ken was fortunate to have met his wife Stacie, who shares his passion for owning a small business. Together they started Advantage Computer Services.

Ken and his wife, Stacie have 3 children, a daughter Morgan, twins Chase and Cruise. Ken is very active in the community and enjoys sports photography. He is an avid Capitals Fan and loves his home team, the Washington Redskins (Not so Much lately)! Ken’s hobbies include Traveling, Playing video games (mostly FPS, Counter Strike) and of course going to the Local High school Football games with the crew.

If you are looking for a good place to repair basic computer problems, this is the place to go. This business excels at fixing broken screens, updating computers with hardware (and some software, but more about that in a minute), as well as providing a variety of other services at some very good prices. The staff is friendly (for the most part) and the owner of the store will have frank and honest discussions, giving discounts where its fair, and will not try to mislead or sugarcoat.
The reason i did not give them four stars was due to «major computer repairs» at which this store falls short. If you are rebuilding a computer form the ground up, making major upgrades, or transferring data between machines, then you might want to take your business to a more professional place. While the staff is nice, they fall really short in this area.
When I had my machine upgraded, I found that a number of programs and files had been deleted from my old machine and were never transferred. The computer tech at the store got a bit nasty and said I «should have known computers better» since some files cant be transferred. There was also an issue that I had been told I would have Microsoft Office and MovieMaker on the new machine (both required for a business I help run), yet this flat out didn’t happen. I did take verbal agreements on this, which was my fault, so if you choose to use this business for major computer upgrades then get everything in writing before they start.
I still really like them and will be back.

This place is terrible. Management really needs to focus on quality in repairs as well as customer service. I had Two mother boards replaced on two different computers both failed again within 8 months after the repair. I called to have them replaced under there so called 1 year guarantee and was told the parts they installed where refurbished parts and not new? Now I was really aggravated, had I know they where going to charge me what they did to throw some garbage parts in it I would have never paid to have the repairs done in the first place. It didn’t say anything on my ticket about refurbished parts. Ken began to get very rude with me when I questioned him about it not stating they used refurbished parts. Bottom line save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Took a I pad mini in for repair. Charge 30.00 to look at it, They had it a week and I called them to see if it was ready. The problem they told me was part was back ordered. Ok I waited another week and called again. This time they told me the part was being shipped and should be ready in a week. I called again this time the part wasn’t in there order and would have to reorder. Ok 2 more weeks went by and I received a call that the repair was done. I told them I would be over the next day to pick it up. Guess what when I arrived at the store and told them I was to pick it up they told me, they called me in error. Once again it was not fixed but I could take it and they would call when the part came it.
Three weeks went by and no call. A new store opened in manassas crossing shopping center so I went there. Took it in and the Gentle looked at it and said it still under warranty and take it to the Apple Store. Which I did and they replaced it at no cost.
The original repair shop should have know that but they tried to string me along. My guess now is that they new that and just milked me for the 30.00 bucks. The whole bit about getting parts was just to string me along.
My guess is that they do this a lot and just string people along. I will never ever go there again. I question how they can stay in business with this type of scam.

It isn’t often that you need to fix something on your personal computer/​laptop, but I’m happy Advantage Computer Services was able to fix the adapter issue on my husband’s laptop. Quick service and friendly. Will go back should another issue arise.

Pretty terrible experience. I took my Ipad in for a broken screen. After returning the device seven times for a variety of other issues ACS created it seems to be fixed, almost. They had the device a total of 9 weeks. This is not an exaggeration or embellishment. They never called to say when it was ready except after the last fix attempt when they acknowledged they didn’t have my phone number. I was constantly given the run around on several occasions and always given excuses regarding what was taking so long. After listening to the owner and employees, it was obvious they don’t know much about computers or fixing them. I have been working with PC’ s for 20+ years but Ipad screen is not something I felt like messing with and thought I would be better off letting experts work on it. Unfortunately, the establishment doesn’t have any. I would often hear other customers in the shop complaining about issues not being fixed. I believe that. Some advise, before you take your computer in for service, Google the issue and confidence is high, you will be able to fix it yourself. Don’t waste your money.
I can say with all honesty, this was the worst most convoluted customer service experience of my life. All in all, they practically ruined a new ipad. I would never use the shop again or recommend it to a friend or even and enemy for that matter.

They lost parts to my computer and replaced them with cheep ones. All they said was well we gave you a replacement. When I asked for original parts they had to order them and wanted to charge me for all of that.

Follow up — My confidence with this place has fallen. I took my custom made PC in due to it Blue Screening often and locking up. I updated drivers and ran tests but it was beyond my skill level. So I took it in. 5 days later Ken stated it was the video card not working right. 1 of the dual fan not working and card overheating. Why would that cause IRQL errors I was not sure but I am not expert so he sold me a new card and installed it 400.00 bucks. Took my PC home 3 days later IRQL Blue screen. I called left 2 messages but no call back. for the next month I was busy traveling so I could not bring it back. Finally when I had time the PC was blue screening 3 – 4 times a day. They had my PC again for 3 days and said they ran it «HARD» and never got it to blue screen or lock up. I told them to try a few things over the weekend and I will pick it up when I am back in town. Picked up the PC on Monday and they said the PC NEVER failed. There are Reg errors but they wanted to charge me to fix those. I was like wait, why did you not fix those in the when you installed the card? I bring my PC home and with in 4 hours bam blue screen with me only on FB and Google maps. Not even playing the online games this PC it built for. for the 10 days I have had my PC back it Blue screens 3 – 4 times a day. So in short 400.00 bucks, 12 days of no PC and I am in the exact same spot I was before except different Vid Card.

My laptop screen stop working. Took it in and they said the mother board went bad. They credited about $ 60 towards the purchase of a refurbished HP laptop they had in stock. I had them move the contents of my old drive to the new laptop.
I went to pick it up and it was good thing I had them start it up and test it. The files they copied over were not easy to find. I purchased a case for my old hard drive. It’s a good thing I opened the box to test it because it was missing the cable.
In general, I would say these guys are very good technically. But they are very rushed, and the quality was lacking. You have to be a bit technical yourself to make sure they deliver what you were expecting. That said, PCs are very technical and what you expect compared to what gets delivered could be a mile apart wherever you go. 5 stars for technical ability. I subtract two because of quality and attitude that they are the only game in town. I’m happy with what I got, but I it took some effort on my part.

Worst place ever!
I feel completely ripped off after having my laptop serviced there.
I needed a new hard drive and while I was there asked about my fan and battery
They were supposed to put in a new battery. they charged me for it. But I still have to keep my laptop plugged into an outlet. They said my fan was not broken just dirty but I still have to keep a cooling fan underneath so it doesn’t shut off from over heating.
I was going to upgrade to windows 8 which they did but they couldn’t find the drivers for it to work correctly which was fine (I have an older laptop) but when they switched it back to windows 7 I keep getting a pop up that says my windows 7 is not genuine and that I may have been a victim of copyright infringement…
I was completely flustered after having to go to them time and time again. they kept my laptop for a ridiculous amount of time. This repair was done a long time ago but I never reviewed it. but everyday I get a reminder of how this company ripped me off and enough is enough. I don’t want someone else to go through the same thing.

This place is horrible.
If I could give it zero stars I would.
They lie about the turn around time. They lie about when you can anticipate a phone call back with a diagnosis. They even lie about your computer being fixed! When I came in to pick up my computer they told me it was repaired, and thankfully I asked them to show me. But, guess what? The computer still didn’t work! They thought they could get me, but I am not the one! I will never go back. Yes, their prices are cheap for a reason — their service blows.

I’ve bought various parts, pieces, and barebones computers from here over the years. Ken is very knowledgeable and has always helped me out. I had just one occasion where I had to return something — a memory stick was bad, they exchanged it right away without hassle. You can find cheaper prices online if you’re willing to wait for delivery, but it’s nice to have a local place like this where you can shop around, ask questions, and get service after the sale.

this place sucks, the guy tries to play you the nice guy card, until you have issues with what ever you bought from there. go elsewhere, the prices are cheap, but the service is horrible!
