G&C Tire and Auto Service

I came in for an emissions inspection in the last week of the month and was in and out of there in 15 minutes. The staff was friendly, courteous, and FAST! I had waited in line for 1.5 hours this morning at one of their competitors to get the inspection done. When it was my turn, I still waited another 40 minutes for them to tell me their machine wasn’t working. I will never go anywhere else but G&C for inspections or repairs. Every time I’ve been there I have not been disappointed. They know how to treat their customers right!

I needed service done on my car. The employees were great and very helpful. The place is really clean and I was very impressed. I will definitely be bringing all my cars to this place.

Make sure to get quote in writing before letting them work on anything. Had to get new tires put on my car so found a pair through
. When purchasing through that website you get a list of installers in your area with a price for installation. G&C came up and the price was about $ 80. When I called to make the appointment I specifically asked if that estimate online was correct for installation. The person who took my call confirmed that was the right price. I go to have my tires put on and nothing about additional costs is said to me. When they hand me the bill there was an additional cost of $ 100 for alignment. I asked what happened to the $ 80 I was quoted and the response was sorry but we already did it so what do you want me to do? I suggested we meet in the middle and was told they couldn’t do that. They ended up giving me $ 25 off, which if you go on their website is a standard coupon for repairs over $ 150 for first time customers. Needless to say won’t be back.
Dropped review from 2 to 1 star. Owner said in message below that I was going to be contacted to discuss my poor experience. It has been a month and no one has contacted me.

I have used G&C for many of my auto needs over the past 7 years now, and the staff there have always been honest, their work performed with care and quality! I’ve never had to return for the same issue on any of my vehicles. I appreciate their work ethic and morals! Great company, great staff, great prices. Thanks G&C!

Absolutely nothing bad to say, except they follow he rules and they make you pay for services (gosh darn it).

UPDATE: Gregg, one of the owners (G of the G&C in the name) messaged me privately to apologize for my experience and thank me for the feedback. He said they have new managers in place and reminded me that his home number is on all repair orders. In retrospect, I should I have used that to give him a call at the time. He made no excuses about anything, which I appreciate.
I haven’t returned to G&C, so I can’t speak to any changes witnessed first hand, but wanted to pass on that they are aware and have taken steps to address the problems.

Great experience. Picked up a screw in my tire and it was hissing away and losing pressure quickly. Not from the local area, so used Unilocal and found these guys close by. They were fantastic; very friendly, got us in and out quickly, great price, very clean. I need to figure out how to use them more often.

The most excellent customer service I’ve experienced at an auto mechanic. Professional in every way and even gave me a free loaner car to use to run errands!

G&C definitely has a focus on customer service and has one of the best waiting rooms I’ve ever been in. They have Apple TV so you can watch anything on Netflix and Hulu+
I brought my truck in for simple stuff. State inspection and an oil change. No issues there. But I needed to have a speed sensor changed. Unfortunately the bolt to remove this was rusted so bad it would have broke if they tried to remove it so they considerately told me to come back when I can spare more time. Very considerate. Very friendly. The mechanic even had me walk into the shop to show me some other things that need to be fixed.

I brought my car in for a diagnostic. My AirBag light kept going off. Within a few hours I got a call from the front office informing me that the modulator went bad and needed to be replaced. After informing them that I would decline to have it installed, they were kind and courteous and returned my car in the original condition on the same day. They gave me a courtesey check of all major components. More often than not, when you decline service from a shop they start to get indignant on you. That was not the case here. I will certainly be bringing my car here again.

Unlike most other auto-​service places, they don’t put the hard sell on you trying to get you to add a bunch of services.
They brought me to my office after I dropped the car off and then picked up when it was done. I like that they drive to my office in my car. That gives them the ability to hear any little things that might sound off.
Overall, it was a good eperience and I’ll go back.

I am editing my first review of this place. The manager I am used to seeing wasn’t there, but had an absolutely terrible experience here. Spent hundreds to get our vehicle fixed, and they fixed everything but the problem with the belt I went in for. When I raised this point, the manager got loud with me and told me I agreed to everything before. I let it go, walked out and got it fixed by a competitor’s shop.
Stay away.

Humph, well, I didn’t get my free oil change with my first visit but I did get a free emissions test ;) they also drove my car to their Chantilly location for me because they weren’t able to do it at the Manassas location yet. (Star número uno)
I was having brake issues and due for my emissions test so after some searching on yahoo local I found these guys had a good reputation for their honesty-​exactly what I am looking for in a garage.
I’ve been in Manassas for 2 years and while I haven’t had any terrible experiences, this was my first memorable one.
Brian and Bobby were both nice, informative and thorough (Star 2). I felt as if they honestly cared about MY best interest by helping me prioritize what work really needed to be done this instant and what could wait. (Star 3) They took their time to explain the pros and cons of completing each repair and maintenance order. They didn’t try to get me to replace a bunch of belts or hoses or do a handful of flushes with the threat that I will soon be standing by the side of the road with a smoking car like most garages do when they see a woman pull up with a baby on their hip. (Star 4) Finally, they offer a pick up, drop off and loaner car service. Brian went out of his way to make sure that I was not inconvenienced by getting work done on my car. (Star 5)
This is the kind of place I would recommend a father send his daughter to get car work done. I am pleased to have unearthed another little gem of Manassas.
