I used the groupon deal for a Brazilian wax with Doni. She’s a lovely person and did a very quick job! I’ve had enough brazlians done to know right away if someone knows what they’re doing and she certainly knows! The only reason I took off one star was because I still had some hair leftover that I had to wax myself but I should’ve checked. It’s not a big deal. Will definitely be going back!

I can not say enough about Tandis, I have been through my share of stylist and know I have finally found the ONE! She takes the time to get to know you and what you are looking to accomplish with a style. She is very personable and knows her stuff. I had the ombré done (which is not easy) and have dark hair and this looks amazing, she took the time to make sure it was right and in my book went above and beyond to take care of me. I will for sure be telling everyone I know about her and know that me and my hair are in good hands with her. Having a stylist you can trust and has your best interest at heart is priceless… Tandis you really are the BEST… thank you thank you thank you!!!
PS: The salon is just as it looks in the pictures, its small and quaint-​looking. I have been in larger salons and love the feel of a small personable salon. If I could give this review more than 5 stars I would.

I had my hair highlighted and cut by doni. She was very helpful and did a fantastic job. I was a new customer from Groupon but she made me feel like I had been a customer for years!!! Doni made the highlights look natural and the cut was perfect! She also gave me pointers on how to get the same volume in my hair at home. I’m a fan now and will continue to have doni take care of me!

I had the best experience at this salon. I came in for a Brazilian wax and was scared to death. My last lady took almost an hour and I was in constant pain. The waxer at this location took 3 minutes! I couldn’t be happier! Already made my next appointment!

I love it here! And always walk out with an extra bounce in my step! Tandis knows her stuff and Mary… just as gentle as can be! Thank you!

Absolutely horrible customer service, completely unprofessional and rude. Changed the price from what they said over the phone, then lied about it. Did a bad job on my nails as well.

I came in for my first Brazilian wax and was so nervous and self conscious I almost cancelled. Tandis made me feel so comfortable and I left happy I went through with it! I was in and out within 30 min and will continue coming here! It was a wonderful experience for such a personal service.

La Femme has been my personal salon for the past 7+ years. Tandis and her staff always go above and beyond helping me with my hair style. Every time I leave the salon, I get great compliments about my hair. I have been very happy with the outstanding services I receive for myself, my family and friends. I LOVE MY LOOK!!:-)

Terrible! Constant late. Had to wait couple of times. Smoked every 15 – 20 mins. Careful about their products. Charged too much:(

I recently purchased a Living Social deal to pamper myself just a little with a mani/​pedi. I figured for $ 27, no matter if I liked the place or not that was a good deal. Well, my expectations were exceeded and then some! Upon pulling up, I noticed the salon was a little small, which is honestly what I prefer as you get more personalized care and attention. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and was offered a beverage while they got my chair ready for the pedicure (I was early, so they accommodated that as best they could.). When everything was ready I was taken to my pedi chair. I looked down and there were rose petals in the water! I’ve never had that before when I’ve gotten my feet done and was in love with the concept. The manicurist who helped me (I’m terrible with names, I believe it was Mina?) was such a sweetheart and did a fantastic job on my feet! The pedi even included a paraffin wax dip, ah I was in heaven! The woman helping me took her time and made sure everything was perfect before moving on to my mani.
I opted to try a gel manicure as that’s the nail tech was wearing. But first a paraffin wax hand treatment! My hands were so soft afterwards, it was like I’d bathed them in lotion and oils for hours. Then onto my manicure, although a couple of hangnails were left behind (My fault, I forgot to mention them… D’oh!) everything turned out perfectly. My gel manicure looks beautiful and took less than 30 minutes… including drying time! I’m so glad she suggested it cause this has taken my nail care to a new level… no chipping for up to 3 weeks… SIGN ME UP! As the tech was working on my hands, I spoke with the owner and her daughter. Two lovely, very personable women if I do say so myself. I even scheduled an appointment to come back and have my hair dyed and cut because I liked them so much. It was nice to find a place where they take the time to take care of you and don’t just want to rush you out the door in a mad grab for cash. I feel like I’ve found my new permanent salon and couldn’t be happier!
Bottom line, if you’re looking for a salon where you get personalized care and a friendly environment, I’d recommend this place to you wholeheartedly.

The women who work here are just awesome. So welcoming, sweet, accommodating, and professional. Sometimes I get tired of going to salons where there’s this cold, snooty thing happening. This was a refreshing change.
I got a totally kick ass blowout here — I swear, I was sitting in the chair flipping through People and my hair looked better than half of the models in the magazine. That part of my visit was extremely fun. Nothing’s better than walking out of a place with gorgeous hair (cause I certainly can’t do that s*** on my own!).
The girl who did my nails was unbelievably sweet. Her hands were a little shaky but I think it’s because she was new and nervous. But the best part was that beforehand when the woman was drying my hair from the blowout, I noticed the beautiful color on her nails and asked her about it. She literally fished the bottle out of her own purse (OPI) and let me use it. She was the most genuinely cool and friendly person I’ve met in a long time.
Very cute little place. I’d highly recommend going, especially for hair!

Since moving to the DMV area, I’ve been on the hunt for a good waxing salon. I got a groupon for this place and decided to audition them at a discount. Why not, right? Well after this experience I will not, I repeat, WILL NOT be going back here. Why you ask? Well…
1. The lighting in the room was too dim to be able to effectively wax anything.
2. She did not use gloves!!! What!!!
3. The wax was too hot. Because of this I had raw skin for days… no bueno.
4. She botched the strip on my Brazilian. How do you mess that up???
5. When I got home and had sufficient lighting I was horrified to find that I still had lots of hair in places that should be as hairless as a tomato after a Brazilian wax.
The only positive thing I can say about this place is that it had nice décor. Doesn’t really do much to compensate for a job horrendously done though.

To sum up in one word: SHADY.
I go to Tandis to get my hair done and although she does a great job, I’m completely turned off by the awful customer service, lies, and scams that go on here.
Tandis got me to pay for Moroccan Oil shampoo and condition. Telling me that it was a small bottle (because it’s so concentrated) and then charged me $ 45/​per bottle. As she was ringing me up, she turns to her mom and says «Is it $ 10 for shipping?» And her mom replies yes. $ 100 for shampoo and condition. I come home to search for it online and find it for $ 21 per bottle (of a bigger size!) through the Moroccan Oil website.
I call the following day and her mom answers. I tell her the situation and say replies, «It’s the same price everywhere.» Well, clearly not lady. Then she tells me their credit card machine doesn’t have a refund button. She tells me they are closed and just answering phones today and she will have Tandis give me a call back on Tuesday.
Tuesday no call. I call on Wednesday and ask to speak to Tandis. She basically says she already put the order in. I reply and tell her I won’t accept the package and will do a chargeback on my credit card. She replies, «Oh you don’t need to do that, none of our other clients do that.» And then agrees to issue me a check from the store. I confirm she will send it out today and that it’s for $ 100. A few minutes later I get a call from her cell phone saying «Our accountant just told us that we can’t issue a check for you. We can only give you store credit.» Unfortunately for you Tandis, my father is an accountant and I’ve taken several accounting classes. When a customer deserves a refund, any business owner or employee should know how to issue one and it is always possible.
Ultimately, I had to issue a chargeback. And it’s unfortunate because she does great hair but I have no zero tolerance for shadiness and am willing to take my business (& my 20% tip) elsewhere.

Bought a groupon for spa day with lunch. I tried to make an appointment on 4 different occasions. You have to call at a specific time and day to speak with a certain person that only schedules the spa day. Strange…
One day I finally reached the lady and she told me she would call me back. Well a few days later I got her returned call. LOL When I tried to schedule the appointment she said Saturdays were booked past Fall.? R U SERIOUS? Why offer so many groupon deals if you cannot support the amount? She proceeded to tell me everyone else is taking off of work to come during the week. Hmmm… odd since your Saturdays are booked 4+ months out? LOL I was not born yesterday and can add!
I told her I am not taking off of work. She said I could not get my money back. Seriously!!! RUDE and LIAR!
I hung up and contacted Groupon. They refunded my money promptly. I am glad it worked out that way. Did you see the other reviews for those that were able to use it? YIKES~~
Sometimes things work out! I am glad I got the good end of that stick and saved my money and health!

I found a Groupon for waxing for $ 29 but couldn’t make it the day it expired. So I called and asked if I could just pay them directly the price at Groupon since I knew they only got a percentage out of it. I explained to the lady 3 times that I won’t buy the groupon and would pay them directly and she said yes. I even confirmed it 3 times.
When I got there, I waited 45 mins before I was helped. Even though I was completely satisfied with how efficient and fast the Esthetician was (who happened to be the owner) I am not NOT happy with how much I paid later. When I went to the front desk, the owner told me she can’t honor that price because that’s not how it worked. I explained to her that I spoke to someone that confirmed I could do it and she (even though is the owner) refused and said she couldnt do it. I ended up paying $ 80 even though on Groupon it said the original price was $ 60. She said she couldn’t do anything about it and that she would talk to whoever told me that and said that the person on the phone misunderstood!!!
That is more than double what I thought I was paying!!! I drove all the way from Herndon to do this.
I am very satifisfied with the waxing job she did but completely appalled and disappointed at the lack of customer service. She is the owner and can make a first time customer happy but she refused so because of that, I’m not going back there again which is a bummer because I wanted to use their service again! But I WONT!

Purchased a groupon that conveniently came up as I was looking for a new stylist closer to home. Read the reviews on Unilocal and I was a little concerned but I was willing to give it a shot. I can say that I’m glad I did!
I got a Brazilian wax by Tandis and trust me; I am no stranger to the procedure. I’ve had good bad and HORRIBLE. Based on my visit today, I don’t hesitate giving Tandis and LaFemme 5 stars. She was personable, precise and thorough. Everything I look for in a hair removal specialist. So. Based on my experience, if you are looking for a hair free happy hoo-​hoo Tandis is the girl to see!

I recently went to La Femme Salon for a bachelorette day. We all had the $ 175 Mini Day Spa Package (lunch, facial, body wrap or massage, mani, pedi = 4 hrs of luxury) — a waste of money. After leaving the spa I couldn’t get over the disappointment I felt. The results did not come close to my expectations. At the time (before reading the other reviews) I thought that the spa had taken advantage of the group since many of them were in their early 20s and had not ever had any spa treatment besides a pedicure. The idea of this made me angry, but now I am wondering if this is how all clients are treated.
When we first arrived we were greeted with warm smiles & hellos. We were asked to have a seat as one lady explained that we would all be changing into cozy robes, while another woman took our lunch orders (tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey). A third woman put out fruit and veggie trays (which I am guessing were for us, but they never told us), while a 4^th offered us drinks. They also asked if we prefered a massage/​wrap. 3 of us did the massage, while 2 of us did the wrap (at the same time). My initial thought — it looks like a small spa but they seem to have their act together. Unfortunately, it quickly seemed like the spa was too small for our group of 5.
I opted for the wrap since I had never had one. I had read about wraps online, before going to the spa, and was excited. The majority of what I read warned on being wrapped tightly and that you sweat a lot through the process. Although we did not have a wrap meant to detox, instead focusing on softening the skin, we had no idea that we would be freezing for 45 mins! The wrap was not done tightly, which may have had something to do with why we were so cold. Thankfully they did put several heavy blankets on us, but the room should have been much warmer. Naked bodies need warmth!
During the wrap we also received our facials (The whole process lasting about an hour). This would have been fine if there were two people doing facials, but instead she switched back and forth between us. This made me worry about the hygienic factor throughout. It also took away from the experience. I am sure she used some type of cleaning spray but it still gave me the heeby jeebies. I didnt worry about the same items being used on me & my friend (which is still not good), but wondered if that’s all they ever do. I was also surprised that she did not ask questions about my skin or look at it closely with light before beginning the facial. As another reviewer mentioned, she also left the room throughout. To be honest, I had a much better experience at a esthetician school than I did here.
After the wrap/​facial we were led to a tiny shower that had a grungy floor… which reinforced my worry of cleanliness. I found myself wishing I had soap, too. The towels were clean and soft but left fuzzies all over my skin (which were noticeable — the towels were brown & I am very pale).
After my shower, we just hung out for between 20 – 30 minutes — as the therapists and technicians buzzed around us trying to decide what to do & what order to do it in… they decided on lunch, which was tasty.
I spent the next hour in my bathrobe and a lot of time was being wasted. Overall the time management by the staff was incredibly poor. The last hour they rushed my manicure (if you would call it that) and pedicure for many of us.
The pedicure was wonderful! This was the best part of the day. The woman who did my toes was professional, took her time, seemed to take pride in what she was doing, and was friendly. She did a wonderful job on my feet. I do have to admit, I wondered again if they sanitized the basins in between clients.
I did enjoy the wax dip but would have much preferred a true manicure than the mess I received without the dip. I came in expecting them to clean off my nail polish (instead it was a quick swipe, leaving a a lot of polish behind), push back my cuticles (they did), a hand massage (included if that means only rubbing in lotion), proper filing/​cutting, and then taking the time to correctly apply the coats of nail polish.
My expectations were too high.
I am probably the most happy with my nails out of all of us, and I plan on redoing mine today or tomorrow. At this point the employees were trying to rush us to go home. I dont think you should penalyze your customers because you had time management problems. One girl was asked to put her toes on an employees leg, as the employee was kneeling on the floor, so she could polish her toes — seriously??? what nail salon does that? My nails were sloppily filed but were nicely painted, while others were missing paint on half their nails. They completely skipped one girl’s manicure all together and just painted her fingers! Granted, they did give her a certificate for a manicure, but I wouldnt go back if I were her.

I have been to this salon/​spa twice now, and I’m afraid I have to say I will not be back. My in-​laws gave me a gift certificate to this place without knowing anything about it. The first time, I had a facial and the second, a manicure.
Though she was nice, my esthetician left the room several times before and during my facial treatment. This significantly took away from my 60-​minute service. I believe these were smoking breaks due to the strong odor when she returned. She also talked through most of the procedures. I would have preferred a more silent, relaxing experience.
La Femme did not allow me to apply my gratuity to the gift certificate. Therefore, I had to write a check for the tip and was left with $ 10 to spend there another day.
When I went in for my manicure, I expected to pay the menu price: $ 15, minus a $ 5 discount for customer appreciation (July-​August) = $ 10. Unfortunately, I had to argue about the price with one of the employees who tried to charge me $ 20 for the manicure because the nail technician gave me a paraffin wax. All I asked for when I made the appointment was a manicure, so I naturally assumed the wax was part of their process. I protested that I was not told this would be an extra charge, so the employee said, «Fine» and told the tech to charge me $ 5. I decided just to pay the fee and be done with it. Some customer appreciation!
I’ll admit, I was ten minutes late, so that was my fault and perhaps somewhat accounts for the quality of the manicure I received, but just for your information, the manicure did not include either a hand massage or a cuticle trim, both things that are typically standard in other manicures I have had elsewhere.
The lady who painted my nails was very friendly, but when she left for awhile to go help another customer while my nails dried, I noticed that a couple of the nails were not completely painted. I could still see my natural nail color through the streaks in the red paint. She was gone for so long that I didn’t know if she was finished with me, so I decided to paint over these places myself since I don’t have that color at home. Another employee saw me doing this and asked me not to do that since it just makes more work for them.

I only come here for my Brazilian wax so I have no review for the hair styling. I love Mary & Tandis! Mary is Tandis’ mom & they both do waxing there. Mary is very nice & loves to chat (which I love). Tandis is quick & a pro! They both make you feel very comfortable with no judgement whatsoever. I love the atmosphere here & the brazillian wax is only $ 60. They do a GREAT job here. I am making this my go to place for waxing from now on.
