Nathan’s Dairy Bar is the hot spot to cool off in Manassas, Virginia. Founded in 2001 by Manassas local David Hutton, he named the business after his son… Nathan! We offer a plethora of soft serve ice cream flavors as well as sherbet flavors. Our special flavors change twice a week. We post daily updates on our Facebook page of what the ice cream flavors are as well as our daily hours.

Nate Jr., our ice cream bus, will take care of all your catering needs, from weddings to birthday parties! One of our seasonal favorites is freshly made hot harvest apples, which are served over vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel. And when Thanksgiving rolls around, Nathan’s sells pumpkin ice cream pies to take home for a delicious dessert. Nathan’s is a seasonally run business, opening in March and throughout the entire summer. The closing date always falls on the day of the Manassas Christmas Parade, which is the first Saturday of December. Stop by Nathan’s for a delicious treat!

Growing up, Dave had an interest in delectable treats that persisted to adulthood. Naturally, he chose to work in the dessert industry. He enjoys being able to serve the public at Nathan’s Dairy Bar where delicious desserts and a friendly atmosphere are the driving forces of the business. He hopes to provide you with such a positive experience that you’ll remember to return to Nathan’s Dairy Bar when you’re craving something sweet and delicious.

A coworker of mine recommended Nathan’s to us last fall. We tried it and keep showing up to try it again and again and again, many times bringing the rest of the family and the new family pup! What a great business and great ice cream dishes. You definitely get your money’s worth here too!

I am usually lucky, when I go here there isn’t a huge line. I almost always get a fudge sundae with Oreos. The employees are always nice and quick. My favorite part is when customers bring their dogs…

Not the best ice cream I have ever had, but not terrible. Pretty busy on a Saturday at about 5, but the line moved along rather quickly.
Cash only.
Ordered a medium tigers blood shaved ice with vanilla ice cream on the bottom and a peach shaved ice with vanilla ice cream on the bottom.
I miss the Tigers blood of Utah. All the ones I have had here are much sweeter than in Utah.
The taste of the ice cream was just meh but I am pretty picky about my ice cream.
$ 7 and change for the both of us. The medium was quite large and neither of us could finish it.
Friendly employees.
I wouldn’t come back for the tigers blood, but someone ordered a smores sundae, which looked really yummy, that I will have to come back to try.

I’m not usually a huge fan of soft serve but this was exceptional! I would highly recommend the Nutella flavor. I got the Nutella and fresh strawberry twist which was really good but I wished I had just gotten the Nutella alone. It was also a great value. The small cone was $ 2.49 but was a big amount of ice cream I felt! Just enough to feel refreshed on a hot summer day.
What I also really appreciated about Nathan’s was that there was plenty of seating. There were more than five round tables with umbrellas which were great to catch some shade. There were also benches in the main seating area as well as on the side of the building (hidden from the main parking, so walk around to the other side if you’re looking for a place to sit!). This is different from most ice cream shops I’ve been too. Definitely a great place to head during the summer!

Amazing. The creaminess of the soft serve is heavenly. Just be patient with the long lines starting Friday late afternoon. If you’re lucky they hand out samples while you wait. Location is pretty easy to locate in Manassas and it offers ample amount of parking.
The orders are taken down accurately and service is quick. They take credit cards too, so that’s helpful!
The menu offers everything from a simple soft serve be with cone or cup and various types of toppings. Milk and malt shakes. Snow cones. Sundaes.
We have gotten almost everything on the menu and have been extremely satisfied. But shout out to the pecans. They are amazing. First tasted it on the turtle sundae and now we incorporate it on almost everything.
You must visit them now OR again!

Every summer you can’t wait to make it to Nathan’s to enjoy their outstanding ice cream. I am a milkshake fan and theirs are beast. Depending on the weather the lines can be pretty long but dude it’s the summer (or spring), enjoy your company and chill out. Decent location as it’s close to a miniature golf place and a bowling alley. Lots of flavors and options to choose from. Personally I like them better than Kline’s.

Fantastic place for ice cream. Personally, I think they do a much better job than Kline’s with their creations. But, like Kline’s, the lines get long though they move rather quickly!
Like another Unilocaler mentioned, Nathan’s reminds me a lot of the ice cream bars they have down the Jersey Shore. The prices are equal to them and their product backs it up. I’ve already gotten a couple of things from them, their strawberry shortcake, a milkshake, and their s’mores and honey sundaes. All of it is really good and plentiful. It creates for a lovely experience for people of all ages, and makes you want to return once more, at the expense of your waistline.
This is a must for people in this area. It’s only open in the spring and summer so go get some while it’s still warm! (And the ice cream is cold).

Fantastic place to get ice cream. Their special items are always changing and the toppings menu has a significant amount of items to choose from. Prices are very fair.

Had to try this place after a friend suggested I try their snowballs.
I was feeling in the mood for ice cream so I ordered a vanilla chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles. It was delicious! Sweet, but not too bad. It was inexpensive as well– I believe I paid no more than $ 2.00.
I had tried a bit of the snowball that a friend ordered and it was great– a large is only $ 3.00!
The flavor «tigers blood» is quite fantastic– it’s a combination of watermelon, coconut (I believe), and another flavor. Nonetheless, it is good and with trying.

Nathan’s is one of the best soft serve places around! They give generous portions of ice cream that make it look like they receive no profit. The staff are all pretty nice and if they take too long on a dessert they will give you a free ice cream coupon! The only time I come here and leave disappointed is when the line goes out to the sidewalk. Good thing Kline’s is not far away! This place, though, still beats Kline’s and Frostie Moose. The unique thing about this place is how many dogs come here! There are so many different breeds! If you are a dog lover, than this is the place! This is definitely my first choice to go for soft serve and would recommend this place to anyone! If you are a «first timer» or «out of towner» I do recommend waiting in line because it is a great first or only time experience!

Nathan’s was a weekend hit! It’s a cute little outdoors ice cream spot that evokes feelings of childhood. it’s kid-​friendly, dog-​friendly, and sweet-​tooth friendly. The only people that may not be too happy are the lactose intolerant… But they’ve even got the option of shaved ice!
The lines get long but they move quickly and sometimes they’ll have a salesperson walk through with samples. There are TONS of choices to fit anyone’s fancy: tons of sundae options, shakes, dipped cones, dog treats… You name it. Good quantities and good prices.
There’s a fair amount of seating once you get your frozen treat.
The only downside is that since it’s outside you can’t regulate smokers. I got caught in line behind a smoker each time I visited. But I doubt there’s much that can be done about that :-/

Stopped by for a late night snack. We waited in line for at least 30 mins and people were still coming. I like the location but they need more chairs, benches, tables.
I ordered a small cone with pistachio flavored ice cream dipped in cherry. The ice cream had no flavor of pistachio until I got the end of the cone. It was mainly vanilla. The cream wasn’t even green :/​
The cherry dip didn’t taste like cherry either. It was just crunchy sugar :(
Over all it’s OK. They have many other flavors to try so I’ll definitely be back for more.

Love this place!
Their soft serve ice cream is excellent! So creamy, smooth, and flavorful. They offer a lot of delicious goodies on their menu. I posted a picture of their menu up. Employees are friendly and quick. There is only outdoor seating. This place gets packed, especially during the summer. There is usually a line, but it moves quick. Plenty of parking available. Prices are reasonable. I also appreciate that they offer Shaved Ice. Though this may not be the best shaved ice I’ve ever tasted, I’m still glad it’s on the menu. The ice is on the crunchier side. There aren’t a whole lot of shaved ice places in VA.
