PR at Partners

I’ve been going to PR at Partners for about 6 months now. After starting a new job in Manassas, I was in need of a new salon and after the great Unilocal reviews I ended up there and was not disappointed. I cannot speak highly enough of how amazing Katie Kalbach is. She is a highlight wizard and honestly the best stylist I have ever been to (which is saying a lot after years of highlights and dozens of salons). She takes the time to sit and ask you how you envision your hair looking and even went through pinterest with me so I could point out my ideal highlight «blend.» Not only is she fantastic at her job, she is a genuinely nice person who makes a point to remember her clients and bits about their lives. The salon is also really nice. They offer you tea or water when you come in, the décor is very modern, staff members are extremely polite and they even give you a scalp massage when you get your hair wash which is an awesome and unexpected plus! For all of the above reasons and the quality of service/​product you get for the price, I highly recommend PR at Partners and give it 5 stars.

This review is solely on the sugaring services provided at this establishment. I have never had a bad experience and I have had sugar wax done by three of the estheticians. Sassy, Anka, and Laura. All of them — GREAT. They were gentle and very professional. As for the sugar waxing itself — BETTER than regular wax. I have very sensitive skin to where regular hot, lava wax would rip my skin off and I would be left with welts, rashes, and sometimes even small bleeding spots. Sugar wax is not hot, its gentle, and much more sanitary. My skin is left softer and no irritation. I couldn’t be more happier with the results every time I go (which is not as often since it lasts much longer).

Fantastic salon, I have been a client for 4 years now. The stylists are hair artists, and cater to their clients needs and wishes. Appointments are always available, they have excellent hours, the shop is clean and sanitary, and all of the staff are friendly, courteous, and just plain awesome. My hair has never looked better!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY HAIR by Jenny Macaya!!! She is the BEST Hairstylist EVER!!! My hair was really long and I never trusted any one for this big change, and I found Jenny and I never gonna do My hair with anybody else! go there ask about Jenny Macaya and you not regret this!!!

I know I have written about Kayleigh before but I just had to give her another 5 stars! I am always so happy after leaving her from getting my hair done. My schedule for work is very back and forth so sometimes I will have to call and re schedule and she’s always so understanding! This woman has cut 13 inches off my hair when my hair was forever long, and she made me love it! She has dyed my hair different styles and ways, and I have always loved it. I will basically let her do anything to my hair. You’re amazing!

Wonderful! Jen cut about 8 inches off of my hair and it looks just fantastic! I went in knowing what length I wanted, but not much else in terms of styling. Jen listened to what I wanted (low maintenance, no flipping out at the end as is always my issue) and was able to translate that into a cut. She even showed me some pictures of what she thought would work on pinterest. She took care to suggest products for my hair wash (which took place in a massage chair and included a wonderful, relaxing head massage). Jen was professional and kind. The spa looks interesting as well! Cut cost $ 60 + tip (note: tips need to be in cash or check — not on card). The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because there was a tray of donuts sitting out in the waiting room which looked pretty stale, like they had been sitting out all day. Very unappetizing at 4pm. Otherwise, this place was wonderful, and I’ll be sure to return!

Lots of pros and cons here. First I have never gotten better hair cuts or hair anything than here. They really know what they’re doing and do it well. I never had to worry how it would turn out and always left happy. They also have nice chairs when they shampoo you that vibrate so it gives your body a little massage while that’s going on which feels really nice and then after they shampoo your hair the stylist also gives you a scalp massage which also feels great. So once you leave the shampoo station you’re a gooey mess of relaxation.
The cons: There is a bit of a too cool for school vibe going on and who needs that when you are the customer. However its not so oppressive that you want to leave. Just noticeable. Second the prices aren’t listed and this place is VERY expensive. Whoever gave it two $$ must get their hair cut in Hollywood because I have never paid so much for haircuts etc and that is unfortunately why I cant go there anymore. Last, as someone noted, for some reason you can’t put tips on your credit card so you have to remember to bring enough cash.
A great place for hair and the experience is great if you can afford it.

Went back to have partial highlights done by Bethany and really enjoyed the visit. Once again, Bethany was amazing and her assistant is the best as well. Bethany does such a great job and really takes pride in her work. I have found a favorite hair stylist and I will be back over and over again!

I have bounced around from hair salon to hair salon for years, and I’m only 24. I never had an experience with a stylist that made me want to keep coming back, there was always something that never clicked for me with the stylist I’ve been to, I never had an issue with a stylist but I never was in love with my hair after and I would just slowly stop going. Until a few weeks back when my best friend insisted I go to her girl Kayleigh. I made an appointment for a cut and color and I was scheduled for about a week later. Kayleigh was great, I loved her. She was sincerely nice and interested about me and what I wanted with my hair, I could tell she would give me her opinion about cuts and colors but wasn’t going to force anything on me. I told her I just got out of a pretty long relationship and I wanted my color to be fun and edgy, but not in your face because I do work for the government. She was so excited to get started on me, and that made me excited as well. She was easy to chat with, but also didn’t put off the vibe that I needed to talk. It wasn’t awkward when neither of us were speaking. I left with a trim and the most beautiful all over red color that she picked out. I was in love. For the first time I was truly in love with everything, my cut, color, stylist, everything. I also love that she didn’t push products on me. It’s been a few weeks and I continue to get compliments. I left happy and not in debt and I can’t wait to go back ! I highly recommend Kayleigh, you won’t be disappointed I guarantee it !

Katie is the Best! There are few stylists I’ve ever had the confidence saying I’d like something new. I trust you. But Katie is the one I trust to always make my hair (and me) look and feel beautiful! She really listens to the clients wants and needs which I’ve found is exceptionally rare. It’s a hike for me to get out to her from Alexandria but to be honest I’d drive further if I had too. Cut, color, highlights she has done them all for me. She knows I like a more natural look and when I’ve thought of shaking things up she keeps in mind what will look best for her clients and how to ease them into a change they will love. I honestly can’t say enough how amazing Katie is. If you trust in her you won’t regret it!

got cut color it was meh considering how much I paid. I have had way better hair cuts. The layers were not attractive and didn’t even make a nice ponytail. What I really didn’t like is how rough the hair washing guy was. When he took the foils out of my hair it felt like he ripped some hair out and the massage was lousy. At that price and experience I would never come back. If i remember correctly they want cash tips too. shady.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff is wonderful and professional, the atmosphere is cheerful; it was extremely busy on Saturday, but that’s how you know it’s a great salon. I would recommend this salon for any service. It’s my new «go-​to.»

I went to PR and Partners twice. Will not go back — ever! Problems that I encountered: no public listing of the prices (anywhere!) so my first visit for a partial foil and slight trim was $ 265, way more than I have ever paid for a partial foil and trim; service was extremely slow; no hot water coming out of the sinks; rather rude and abrasive staff (like we’re bothering them…); waiting in line to be helped; and finally the highlight I received the second visit left several areas of gray uncovered. When I asked about that, the hairstylist responded that this was to be expected with a «partial foil» even though we had specifically discussed making sure all of the gray was covered.

Love going to Katie for a haircut! She always knows exactly the style I want and she goes above and beyond with her skills. The staff is always super nice and incredibly accommodating. Love this place!

I received the worst haircut EVER at the Gainesville location. The first haircut made me look over 40 (much older). Another person tried correcting it & succeeded in making me look half mushroom & half chiwawa. I regret paying $ 55 for it.
Don’t go there!!!

Amber C. She is incredible. Cannot go anywhere without someone asking where I got my hair cut. She made the whole hair cutting experience effortless. Referring everyone I know. Thanks Amber for making the whole experience pleasant and being talented and awesome. Will definitely return.

I used to go for waxing a PR at Partners — but I will not go anymore.
My first experience was great, it was a little on the expensive side, but being close to home, it was worth it. Their waxing is great, although I don’t really notice any difference in regrowth between strip/​hot wax and sugaring wax.
My problem is their customer service. I always feel like I’ve intruded on some ‘secret club’ that I am not a member of. Then I went to make an appointment to get waxing done — they didn’t have very many appointments available for the next week, but found one that worked for me, and booked it. About 2 hours later I get a call saying that the girl who I was booked with was going away that week so wouldn’t be available. Why did they not know that when I booked? So I book for another time with another person at another time — and then get a call a few hours later saying that she would not be able to do the service (she had a chiropractor appointment) and could I find ANOTHER time to have my waxing done. That was it. I’m done. I am of the opinion that if you have an appointment booked a few days out, that you do the leg-​work and find someone to take my appointment because you have an appointment — not make me find a third time to get an over-​priced service that I got somewhere else for cheaper.

Wonderful salon! I’ve been desperately looking for a salon to visit regularly, and this is definitely it! Jay jay was fantastic — friendly, funny, and knowledgable in her trade! I told her what my basic «hair goals» were and she took it from there; absolutely thrilled with the result and look forward to seeing her again for my next cut! On top of the wonderful and friendly staff, the salon is clean and modern and comfortable. Highly recommended :)

I’ve been going to PR for about 2 years and I absolutely love three of the ladies there. Stephanie is an amazing massage therapist… I’m always incredibly relaxed after seeing her. Talitha does the best sugaring Brazilian wax… She is meticulous and I love how she takes time at the end of each session to pluck any ingrown hairs that pop up. Ginny gives some of the best manicures and pedicures that I’ve ever had! I haven’t had my hair done yet, but that’s next on my list :)
Make sure to bring cash for tips… You aren’t able to add it to the credit charges.

I had no idea where to find a salon in Manassas and after some bad luck (La Femme Salon) ended up turning to Unilocal.I decided on PR at Partners and am really glad I did. My stylist was Kayleigh and she was absolutely fantastic. Spoke with me for almost 10 minutes about my hair routine and what I wanted out of a hair cut and what would work with my kind of hair. I really appreciated that!
The shampoo was fantastic (massage chairs!) and I took advantage of one of the treatments they were pushing, because it had been awhile since I had done anything at all to my hair and it needed some attention. The constant attempts to sell me something, both by the shampooer and my stylist were a little annoying, but they weren’t crazy about it and I just didn’t end up buying anything they were selling.
I had a really great hair cut at an excellent price at the end of the appointment and I’ll definitely go back. Salon was incredibly clean, staff was dressed professionally, and everyone was friendly. The receptionist was a little disinterested… more interested in chatting about his plans that night with a coworker than engaging in any conversation with me while I waited, but that’s ok.
If they could cut down a bit on the need to «sell, sell, sell» I would bump this to a 5 star review.
