The only temperature controlled shop in VT 60 degrees year round, if you buy at a place that isn’t don’t spend more the $ 10! Very high turnover & all high end wines are stored impeccably. A great little wine & Antique shop full of treasures and very knowledgeable characters! It shares the same space with the Antiques shop so the owners jokingly refer to it as «Junk and Juice». An ideal business made in heaven! Mostly bottles from smaller wine makers that you won’t find at supermarkets or liquor stores plus stuff you usually only get to read about. Regular free tastings that come with free finger foods, generous pours, and great deals. I hate buying wine anywhere else. Helpful tip: if you go to one of the wine tastings, go on the earlier side,
History
Established in 1985.
Our wine business is driven by my very knowledgable wife Barbara. A diplo-brat born in France and accustomed to fine food and wine. She has been a wine aficionado since childhood and has studied it long long before we decided to become purveyors. She has an outgoing fun and unpretentious approach to wine. Being as finicky about an $ 8 bottle as a $ 2500 one. She tastes everything before we buy, usually at least 50 a week and sometimes hundreds at the wine shows.
As far as antiques go we started out in the barn of our family farm here in Vt. Initially selling very country and rustic merchandise. We studied hard and evolved and grew, eventually moving into our very busy Main St Manchester Center Vt location. With our growing knowledge we migrated to better and better higher end merchandise. That coupled with our very aggressive «priced to sell policy» which is proven by our continued survival thru the recession, as others have closed by their failure to accept the new economic reality.
