Subway

We keep coming to Subway. You know what you get when you get in. This location is not different. However we felt that we needed to comment about this particular NH location because it got some bad press from other reviewers. We actually saw a hard working staff struggling to keep up with a long line of hungry customers. They did a great job. Loved my sandwich. Thanks!

I love Subway. I could eat it everyday if I could. As a vegetarian I always get the the veggie with extra lettuce. I was told I could have extra lettuce but it would with a charge! I was appalled since I have asked for extra lettuce at every other Subway location in the surrounding area and was never charged. Is an extra ½ cup of lettuce really going to break the bank? I will not be going back to this location.

This review is based on this particular Subway location and not the Subway chain as a whole. I eat at various Subway shops several times a week for my favorite subs made to order. Some locations/​franchises are better than others.
This Subway shop (#28 936) is located inside the Manchester Wal-​Mart, which offers the standard Subway menu and I’ve never had any issues with the food here. I would only stop here if I was already shopping at Wal-​Mart, otherwise there are many other Subway locations in the area that are easier to get to.
Unfortunately, I’ve had issues with a couple employees at this location. A while ago, I stopped here in the AM after picking up a few things at Wal-​Mart. Subway was running a $ 5 Any Regular Footlong promotion, so I ordered a Oven Baked Chicken Sub (a regular sub normally $ 6.25 plus tax). The old lady made my sub, but she rang the sub up as $ 6.81 instead of $ 5.45. I pointed out that the Oven Baked Chicken Sub was a regular footlong and this very stubborn employee kept claiming the sub was a premium sub, which was wrong! I was in a hurry to get to work and no time to argue, so I paid the $ 6.81 and left. The next day, I go to my favorite Subway location in Concord and pay $ 5.45 for the same footlong Oven Baked Chicken Sub.
Very recently, I stopped at this location to pick up a Steak & Cheese Footlong Sub for dinner. I stood in a short line of customers, which seemed to move at normal pace since there were two staff on duty, a younger woman and the «older guy with glasses» alternating between making food and cashing out customers. The younger woman took my order and initially began to make my sub, putting on the shaved steak and cheese slices and toasting it, she started a sub for the customer behind me while my sub was toasting, which is standard practice at Subway. The «older guy with glasses» just finished cashing out a customer ahead of me and took my sub out of the toaster and here goes.
OLDER GUY WITH GLASSES: What would you like on your sub?
ME: How about lettuce, spinach…
(the OGWG rushed to the back room to replenish the spinach)
OGWG: What else?
ME: I quickly point out tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, & red onions.
OGWG: WHY DON’T YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU DON’T WANT ON YOUR SUB!!! (SHOUTING!!!)
ME: (I was shocked, but stayed calm) No hots please.
OGWG: ANY DRESSING?
ME: Light mayo please!
OGWG: TELL ME WHAT YOU DON’T WANT ON YOUR SUB INSTEAD OF NAMING 9 OF THE 12 ITEMS!!! (grumbling very rudely)
(Note: I also did not want olives and pickles on my sub, which I picked off later).
(OGWG wraps up my sub and cashes me out. I calmly leave the store with my sub.)
After that rude experience (the straw that broke the camel’s back), I will never go back to this Subway location inside Wal-​Mart as long as the «older guy with glasses» is working here. This guy was very rude and the customer should not have to put up with the BULLSH-​T ATTITUDE. You are here to work and do a job including making good Subway subs & salads and treating customers with respect. If you don’t like your job, then you should not be working here. I will continue to eat at other Subway locations, but just not at this franchise.
Next time I happen to be in the area, I will drive a little further to the North Londonderry Subway at Route 28 and Perkins Road, where I can get my favorite subs with my favorite toppings, minus the bad attitude.
