At The Battle Standard you’ll find all the tools and amenities to comfortably learn, prepare and play tabletop strategy games. Tabletop Strategy Games can range from a single box board game where all the pieces are there for you to begin playing, to collectible card games where you pick and choose the cards that best suit your strategy and thus challenge your opponents customized deck of cards, to miniature wargaming where the faction and units you field on the terrain-​covered tabletop along with the colors you choose to paint them are all yours to customize.

History

Established in 2010.

TBS owner Jared Brodeur saw a need for a retail location in the Hartford County that supported tabletop gaming in the style of the popular miniature retailer Games Workshop.

Taking that template and adding his own innovations gave launch to The Battle Standard Tabletop Game & Hobby. Since 2010 The Battle Standard has grown into a new location and expanded into the state of Massachusetts with a second location.

I was extremely fortunate to have grown up with access to tactile toys like Legos which allowed me to explore building my own creations. In my teens I was exposed to the limitless worlds of role-​playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons where imagining a landscape and the interaction between the characters was key to living the story and playing the game. Tabletop miniature gaming combines these elements and allows the player to delve into their creation and imagination. The result is building something personal and completely unique. It is a very artistic and rewarding hobby. When children have the opportunity to develop their imagination they hold on to that for a lifetime and it directly translates into their ability to create as an adult. TBS hosts all age groups and that’s what I love about these games. There are no restrictions and the fun is limitless.
