History

Established in 1998.

Established in 1998 After an inspirational trip to Paris, life long friends and graphic design business partners, Desiree Petitbon and Juliet Holton returned to New Orleans, and in what now seems like a flight of temporary insanity, opened a lingerie boutique on world famous Magazine Street. Copying the corner boutiques seen all over Paris, Basics Underneath Fine Lingerie opened in 1998, celebrating all that is beautiful and feminine. The concept was to offer local women beautiful, quality lingerie, the favorite undergarment hat you reach for over and over, hence the name «basics». As native New Orleanians, the duo correctly assumed the local «joie de vivre» easily expanded to include a love of lingerie and the shop was immediately popular. In 2005, Basics Underneath moved to the Northshore! We are easy to find on N. Causeway next door to The Villa women’s boutique.
