History
Established in 1997.
In 1997, Jimmy Miller created Campsurf in Manhattan Beach to fill a niche in the Los Angeles area and offer top quality surf instruction to people of all ages with a desire to ride waves. In the last 16 years we have successfully taught thousands of students from all over the world and have expanded or programs to include private instruction, group classes, summer surf camps, advanced surf instruction, corporate events and catered private surf parties.
Sadly, Jimmy passed away in 2005, but his passion for teaching and vision of running an exceptional surf business lives within our current instructors. In 2006, we started the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation (www.jimmymillerfoundation.org), a non-profit 501©(3) organization that offers a unique «Ocean Therapy» program designed to assist individuals coping with mental and physical illness. We currently assist the Wounded Warriors Battalion, LA Veterans Hospital and several shelter and care facilities for abused and foster children.
