Love this place. One of the last great newsstands in Southern California. Kay and Tom are awesome and the selection is vast. Foreign language has it’s own section. Close to LAX and one of the last gems.

Great newsstand for any magazine and great friendly service. The owner personally went out of her way to help me find what I am looking for.

This is a GREAT newsstand. In fact, it is one of the last great remaining newsstands — as there are so few left. This newsstand has been here for a lot of years now. The owner is always friendly and nice and they always have the mags you need. RECOMMEND !!!

I discovered this FANTASTIC establishment after having an equally fantastic breakfast across the street at Uncle Bill’s Pancake House, and was floored when the sweetheart behind the counter told me that they’ve been in business for over 27 years!!! I don’t know of another standout newsstand within 35 miles of here with a staggering selection of newspapers and magazines, including the Orange County register; if you live or work in the South Bay or anywhere near LAX, make this place a regular stop during your daily routine. An absolutely cozy gem of a newsstand; no doubt about it.

What an awesome little newsstand place! I came to Current Events based on some help from Unilocal — I had been looking for a certain magazine, and had been at the B & N that’s not too far away. While I was there, I started my search for any bookstores in the area, and saw Current Events on my Unilocal list. It definitely piqued my interest, but I had to call before I made the drive over there. So I called CE, and a young man answers and he’s VERY helpful. I ask him about the magazine, and he lets me know that they have them in stock, so off I go! I get there and park in a little structure that’s located behind them, and put some change in the meter. I walk over to CE, walk in, and I start feeling kind of cool… Something about a little newsstand that carries only newspapers and magazine makes me feel a bit hipster for a millisecond. And then it’s gone. I ask the guy at the counter for the magazine, and he directs me to them, grabs them for me, and rings them up, and I’m off to LAX. Mission accomplished!

We come here every Saturday morning to buy papers for my husband’s weekend reading. Supply is always well-stocked and the service is very friendly. Love to support a local business like this.

Love, love love this place! I work on private jets and have to pick up all kinds of mags and papers at last minute notice often and they are very helpful. Rather spend hear than B&N!

I’m always happy to see a traditional newsstand surviving in the age of e-media. Current Events is just that, a traditional newsstand providing an impressive array of newspapers and magazine’s. It definitely has a hole in the wall vibe, but that’s somehow comforting. Not much else to say, other than this. In an era where information gathering from printed paper is considered passé, an opportunity to patronize these shops and support a media form that has served our society invaluably, is the right thing to do.

My friend and I had just finished eating Breakfast and walking to our vehicle when we past Current Events. It is very rare these days to see a store dedicated to magazines and newspapers, especially located in Manhattan Beach. We walked in to check out the magazines, I ended up checking out surfing magazines and my friend checked out this & that. This place has the lottery, scratch offs and darn near every newspaper that is out there. If I am looking for a hard to find magazine or want to read the back page of the NY Post I will come here for sure. If you just want to chill and relax a Starbucks is right across the street only a stones throw(with a really good arm) from the Ocean.

A fun place to visit. Kay and Tom are great people, and they stock seemingly everything. A Manhattan Beach treasure.

I used to frequent the newstand down in Hermosa, until it closed. This is now my go-to place for specific newspapers and such.

My favorite local news stand. I like that it is possible to get previous issues of magazines here, going back a couple of months sometimes. This means, however, I am still tempted to pick up copies of Forbes and Business Week — can’t resist those photos of our CEO&CTO. I have so damn many magazines now that I may have to send them out for holiday cards this year. That’s not too much bragging, is it?
