Kathy grew up on a farm in NJ with a vast array of animals including horses, pigs, chickens, steer, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, dogs and cats. She’s a graduate of Penn State University and had a successful career running territories on the East Coast and West Coast for 12 years within the publishing industry. In 2007, Kathy decided to go back to her roots and start a dog walking business. She missed the pure joy of being around animals.

Kathy has combined her animal experience and innate love for the animals along with her business skills to build Kathy’s Dog Walking & Pet Sitting, LLC. She brings a level of professionalism and experience that makes Kathy’s Dog Walking & Pet Sitting, LLC reliable, trustworthy and honest. She truly cares about the well being of each of our client’s pet.

Called days ago inquiring as a new client and to date no call back. To a new client this means either too busy, therefore not enough time to take care of current clients. Or lack of follow through which isn’t a good trait for a petsitting company either as we are trusting them to responsibly care for our babies.

We have been with the service for quite a while and it hasn’t been hassle-​free and «Kathy» (I guess) has a history of nickle-​and-​diming us in very irksome ways. This last time was «the last time.»
Maybe it works better for some, I don’t know.
We’ve moved on.

I have two pitbulls who cannot board out of the house. I use four sitters at Kathy’s that all house sit my pups when I’m out of town. All four are wonderful and take great care of my dogs when I’m gone. My dogs love them and I am worry free whenever I travel. They are the best!

Best dog walkers in the SouthBay! I’ve used Kathy and her team for over 9yrs now. Everyone that has works for her is amazing, she does a great job training them and they all have a real love for pets. I use them for walks and also for overnight stays. My dogs never have anxiety when they are with her staff and are always happy and well adjusted when we return home to them. I’m always sad when I leave them, but know they are in good, capable hands.

So glad I found Kathy! She accommodated me last minute right before Christmas when another dog sitting service no-​showed on me. Kathy quickly & kindly placed my pups with JC before I had to fly out of town for the holiday. My pups loved JC & i will definitely be calling them from now on!

Since my dogs are small I was very cautious about boarding them but I found these services and was at ease when I left for my trip. Emails are answered very quickly and so were my text messages to the dog boarder which makes me feel they are very attentive to my dogs.

Jason is TOP NOTCH! He has been caring for my Boston Terrier for about 6 months now. He does dog walking and overnights for us. Communication is great and he is quick to answer my calls/​texts. Roxy just loves him. I’m as happy as can be :)

I love using Kathy’s Dog Walking. Their dog walkers are always reliable and caring. My high-​energy Flat-​coated Retriever, MacGregor, goes on a weekly hike with Kathy’s walkers. It’s like a day at Disneyland for him. Getting up into the hills, socializing, and just generally «being a dog.» Kudos!

My husband and I used Kathy’s service to hire Jason Torrey to come train our two pit bulls to walk better on the leash. He’s an amazing trainer! I am also very impressed with how well Kathy’s communicates. They have answered every question extensively, been very available, and have been very helpful with our needs. We are very pleased over all and will definitely be using them in the future!

We’ve got a loveable lug of a dog but he doesn’t like other animals… who do I call to take that task on? Then I found Kathy’s Dog Walking! Full disclosure of the history of our guy was given, and Kathy connected me with Jessica. She came over, met Jameson, they loved each other instantly, and the worry about what to do with him as I entertained 60 guests disappeared. He was happy to go, happy when he came back, and I now know who to call. I was very appreciative to have such a professional approach and understanding that even the most loveable dog can act up around other animals.

I love Kathy’s Dog Walking!
I have two silly cats, and have had to go out of town unexpectedly more than usual over the past year. I got tired of asking friends to take care of my cats because I feel like it’s a burden to them, and what if they forget or something goes wrong? It’s nice having peace of mind by hiring professionals. I used to get a bit of anxiety and guilt leaving my cats, and would always worry if they’re in good hands. Since I found Kathy’s, I don’t feel like that anymore!
I love their online scheduling system (so easy and practical), their prices are the best I’ve found in this area (Playa del Rey), and everyone that works there is so caring and you can just tell they truly love animals. I always get a text with some pictures of my cats each time the Petsitter makes a visit. Over Christmas, I got stuck on the east coast for an extra two days because of bad weather and flight cancelations. Kathy’s was so accommodating and switched their schedules around to care for my cats the extra few days, and also emailed me 20+ pictures of them playing, brought them some cat toys and even cleaned up around my apartment :)

What’s I’ve learned about Kathy’s Dog Walking Service over the past year is that they are truly engaged with and care for the pets. My experience has been that whether it was a dog, a cat, a bird, or a rabbit they welcomed them all to Kathy’s big animal family and took good care of all. If you are in need for a good and loving care taking service for your pet, Kathy’s is your best bet. They have a nice facebook page as well where they regularly upload photos of their four-​pawed friends. I highly recommend Kathy’s Dog Walking Service if you live on the west side of LA, Santa Monica area, Playa Vista, close to LAX or the beach.

I used Kathy’s Dog Walking service in March and I couldn’t have been HAPPIER. I have to admit, I am one of those dog moms who is over protective and can’t stand to leave my dog at home. She is a 20 lb dog so she isn’t the lightest to carry on a plane but she has gone on her fair share of trips.
When I read the Unilocal reviews of Kathy’s Dog Walking I was relieved yet still nervous as I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had to leave out of town for two days and couldn’t bring miss Kaiya so I took the plunge and signed up for Kaiya’s first pet sitter. Kaiya’s dog walker was PROFESSIONAL, very FRIENDLY and had such a wealth of knowledge of all animals that I was immediately put to ease. She is clearly in the animal care taking profession and made me feel very COMFORTABLE leaving Kaiya at home.
I will ABSOLUTELY be using Kathy’s dog walking service again and will continue to RECOMMEND their services!

I was extremely nervous about having a dog walker come to my home because my dog, Bowie, is agressive toward new people entering our house.
I requested Ashley to be our dog walker and I couldn’t have been happier. We met twice before she entered our home without anyone home and Bowie instantly loved her. I’ve never seen him interact with anyone like he did with Ashley.
She walked him in a group and on private walks twice a day and we were thrilled with how well taken care of he was. She walked him, fed him, and made sure the lights were on for him each evening. We also got the 411 on what he did each day.
Love love love this company! So easy and trustworthy!

Kathy’s dog walking service is a gift from heaven. Kathy’s has walked, boarded and cared for our dog since the first week we brought him home. We had tried another local service for the first few days, but were not comfortable with them. We called a local pet store and they said, «Call Kathy Nelson!»
The best decision we ever made when it comes to our dog’s care was to call Kathy!
Her level of care is second to none. Her prices are dead on with what the going rate is, but the level of service and care is worth a lot more than what she charges.
