I ordered a cake with two days notice for my mom’s 60^th birthday and it came out great. Truly an impressive cake. We had the party in Manhattan Beach, I don’t live there — and thankfully stumbled upon this place.
We ordered a berries and cream cake with an ombré purple to pink color scheme of roses on the outside — it was stunning and made for a wonderful surprise at the party. My mom loved it!
I don’t live near this bakery, but can’t wait to order from them again, even if I’ll have to schlep down to Manhattan Beach to get it.

Emailed them on Monday, hoping they’d be able to make a cake for my mom’s birthday to days later. I didn’t think I’d have much luck as the day I needed it for was New Year’s Eve, but they called me back right away and agreed to make one. I sent them a picture of what I wanted, it came out beautifully and at a reasonable price! The cake itself was a white flavor with berries… It was delicious. Thank you so much for helping me, my mom loved the cake!
Will definitely call for future cake needs.

I ordered my wedding cake (berries and cream) from Lido’s and it was amazing! Our guests raved about how tasty it was all night! Ernesto was amazing to work with — he was friendly, professional and offered up great suggestions. HIGHLY recommend!

Ordered a banana cream pie for my husband’s bday last week and it was soooo great, one of his favorites of all time! Tons of fresh banana, fresh homemade cream and the crust was delicious, well done!

Ernesto is my favorite baker in the Southbay. I’ve ordered two specialty cakes now. He pays close attention to detail on the creation of the exterior while maintaining a flavorful and moist cake. He surprised me by creating a better cake than the picture I had given him. Plus the service is second to none.

The berry cake was fabulous and my entire family loved it! The small pastries were great too! Apple pie was only ok. Will be back though!

My friend ordered my birthday cake from here and got the berries cake. It was drool worthy! Super moist like a tres leches cake and layers of strawberries and blueberries. It was light and not too sweet. I also loved how they decorated the cake. It was super cute! I’ll definitely be ordering more cakes from them!

A person brought A chocolate cake with Ganash frosting from here to a party that I went to. Everyone was raving about the cake. I thought it was the best cake I’ve ever had in my whole life. So I went over to get a slice and I tasted all the other yummy desserts they had there. I talked to the owner and she said she used to work at Sweet Lady Jane. They use all the freshest ingredients and you really can tell. Now I know where I’ll be buying all my cakes in the future. And the funny thing is… I love to bake!

Family run business, amazing customer service, talented cake designer Ernesto. From the phone call with Evalina, to the very patient Valerie taking my order, to the talented Ernesto designing my cake… the entire experience was pleasurable and I’m glad I tried them out. Well definitely be my go to bakery for special occasion cakes in the south bay!
They were able to custom design the oh so delicious berry cake on same day notice and it turned out absolutely lovely! Exactly what I envisioned!
Ernesto can go from super classy fancy wedding design, to fun playful animated designs. Huge range!
The best part is, the cake was delicious and gone before I could even get a bite! People were coming back for seconds before I was done slicing!

Great little bakery that you’d drive by if you didn’t know where it was and even with the address, I damn near missed it.
I have some important clients in Manhattan Beach and always stop by here before meetings. Never once have I, or they, been disappointed.
There is one section with pastries and another with cakes, divided by the register, but still close enough where you can look at both.
Even during the busiest of times, service is quick and friendly, with lots of recommendations on what to get.
Totally worth the trip!

Today was a really good day!
Walked-​in and saw all the yum-​yums. I asked the very nice lady behind the counter about their best seller cake. She said the berry cake is the shiznit! No she didn’t say that. Haha! Gave me a FREE tiny slice for a sample and bam! I’m floored with goodness and unspeakable reaction. That was the best cake I ever had! So I bought a slice of the berry cake and a slice of the almond roja cake. BTW, I sampled one too! Then I saw some very cool and attractive pastries that looked like cream puffs. There was a regular customer with me in the store and she said it’s to die for so I bought a couple. Went home and put one in my mouth and I kid you not… holy f*$^#!

Can’t believe I didn’t post a review yet. Back in May I had a good friend who was going to celebrate her 50^th birthday. She wanted a special cake, and a few of us really went through a process to design the perfect cake for her… elegant, but fun! After coming up with a concept, I went to Lido Bakery and talked with Ernesto. He was very sure he could do what we wanted, and the prices he quoted me were very reasonable. He gave me lots of tastes of the different cakes, so I knew it would taste great. A friend had to pick up the cake and she sent me a photo after she did. I was blown away. And in person, it was even more fabulous. The cake was just perfect in almost every detail I wanted. We had a different flavor for each layer. and every layer was delicious! A beautiful cake that tasted great! Thank you, Ernesto, for such a fabulous cake that made my friend very happy!

The berry cake is tasty but I would recommend not eating it on day 2 or 3 as it didn’t keep well.
Ernesto was very nice and drew out exactly what I was explaining to him for the cake I was ordering, but the color of «pink» for my daughter’s cake was so washed out that it almost looked like an off-​white rather than a pink and it was hard to see the white accents.
Make sure you get them to show you the exact color before-​hand, other wise you could be disappointed.

The pastries we sampled were really delicious and fresh, so we had a good idea about what to expect for the Dolce de leche cake that we picked up for my moms birthday. The cake was exceptionally good, and there was a delicate balance between the layers of cake, filling, and icing. I am a true believer in the fact that you get what you pay for, and Lido’s is no exception. You pay for the best, and that’s what you get!

Best cake experience! I brought my ideas and he included his ideas as well. He also kept my budget in mind so there were some modifications in place (fondant vs buttercream). We did the cake tasting but it was a difficult decision since ALL the flavors were amazing. We agreed on the Berries and cream.
On the day of the event the cake was ready at the time they stated. The cake looked so beautiful i cried! It tasted as amazing as it looked. I am a customer for life! Thanks to the Lido’s bakery team :)

This review is years overdue. Lido’s cakes have been a tradition in our family for over five years. Every celebration the berries and cream cake is a must! My husband loves their chocolate strawberry cake so usually we end up ordering two. All of our friends and family now just look forward to coming over knowing we’ll have Lido’s fresh and delicious cake. We moved and I still drive 45 minutes one way to pick it up.
Beyond the cake is a hard working and caring family running the bakery. They love what they do and don’t compromise quality of the products they use and you can tell in the taste. Now that we have been coming in for so many years we are greeted with a hug and my daughter can’t get through the door fast enough to choose a cookie.
I also am a wedding photographer so I have had more cake in my life than I should admit. Most weddings I shoot the cake gets partially eaten on plates and the rest ends up in the back. They all tend to be dry and I feel like a cheap cake out of a box at home would be better. But you can smell Lido’s buttercream when you are feet away and when their cakes are at a wedding 100% of the time the cake is completely gone and the guests are hunting down more. And the local venue’s and staff would say the same thing. Just walk in and ask Ernesto for a sample and then you will know what I’m raving about.
Oh and their cinnamon rolls will melt in your mouth and are a serious treat. If you have house guests this is my trick to stop in and get some morning pastries and wow them.
For Thanksgiving our favorite is Lido’s apple pie. It will blow your guests taste buds away. And just for presentation the crust is puffed insanely high and it’s filled with more apples than I thought possible.
Chocolate Pecan Tart is our Christmas go to. Rich and freaking to die for.

Needed a special cake for my sister in laws baby shower. Our theme was pink and gold. I brought in a picture from a magazine and they were able to replicate it.
Owner is an artist… My cake looked wonderful. I will be back!

Ernesto when I first got to Manhattan Beach 18 months ago. I was in the hunt for a Pilates studio nearby and decided to take a detour into his store. I’m so glad I did too.
The bakery cases are generally filled to the brim with delectable delicacies. The case on the left has an assortment of baked goods. The croissants are ginormous in size. If you choose one with a filling, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The fillings are succulent and abundant. I tried their apple croissant this afternoon. I’ve had their plain as well as almond croissants too. The dough is flaky and buttery. One croissant is large enough to share.
Ernesto has a wide variety of other taste treats in the case to the right. Be sure to always check the top of the case as that is where they display their sample tray. I had to ask for seconds on the pumpkin pie. I had to confirm that my taste buds were accurate. Wow, absolutely über heavenly.
At this case, you can order slices of a wide assortment of cakes and pies. I once purchased their signature apple pie. I swear this pie weighed 5 pounds and was filled with over one dozen apples.
Oh well, so much for the diet this weekend.
