I have a one year old kitty who I have been taking here since I moved to LA, around when she was 6 months. She means the world to me, so I was very careful when choosing a vet. I couldn’t be happier with Manhattan beach animal hospital! Here she gets amazing care with a vet that spends time to fully examine her no matter what we are coming in for– talk about good piece of mind that my baby is healthy. And then there are small things, like how the receptionist remembers me and my cat’s name without having to look at our file and how she calls to remind me that it is time for vaccinations. They allowed me to stay with my baby girl the entire time throughout the exam, and even offered to give me a copy of the doctors notes in her chart if I wanted it. They just really go the extra mile. I also love that they focus on preventative health, not just fixing whatever is wrong — they truly care about the animals. I just absolutely love this place and my little Sansa does too– she is never nervous while we’re there! I would give them 50 stars if I could — bring your pets here, you won’t regret it. Yes, it is a little on the pricier side, but aren’t your fur babies worth it? :)

Love them here! They take great care of my dogs and have never pushed me to buy the science diet food or lied about a price quote (though anyone can tell you that a quote isn’t a guaranteed price-​things come up that may end up costing you more!)

Dr. Steinam at MB Animal Hospital has been our Vet for over 30 years. He and his staff are so compassionate toward our senior golden retriever (15 yrs.) and Dr. Steinam’s knowledge in the field is amazing. He pin points the problem and is always right on for her treatment. Dr. Steinam takes the time to relate to the animal and is always there to explain to us the home care we need for our golden. I’ve been a client of Dr. Moss at Redondo Beach Medical Center for years but when Dr. Moss left I lost confidence. As a volunteer with Boxer Rescue I was referred by an existing client and was very happy to meet Dr. Kagen. She did a thorough exam and found a very mild heart murmur that had not been detected before. I really appreciate the time Dr. Hagen spent with us and will come back. I really liked everyone I met today.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, but VERY expensive. My dog has skin allergies and was told it would cost THOUSANDS of dollars. The doctor wouldn’t give my dog any temporary type of relief. He would only treat him if I committed to a long and EXPENSIVE treatment program involving, shampoos, creams, medication, special food, etc. etc. I took my dog to a nearby vet and received the same diagnosis, but for a quarter of the price. It was $ 267 to be exact. I am convinced this animal hospital is in the business to make $$$$ as their first priority. Treating and caring for your pet is second priority.

We have been going to Dr. Steinam and Dr. Kagan and Kathy for going on 10yrs. They are not only extremely knowledgeable but exceedingly fair in what they charge for their services. We had two basset hounds who ended up having an extremely rare disease almost unheard of this country. After seeing numerous specialists and spending thousands of dollars, Dr. Steinam was able to diagnose the problem. When our Great Dane puppy had neurological issues, Dr. Kagan sent us to the best neurologist in Southern California who was able to surgically correct his problem. As someone who has had very mixed experienced with a lot of different veterinarians and as the husband of a pediatric plastic surgeon who is not easy to impress, I can’t say enough about Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital, although it would be nice if at some point they got email.

Great service here! Always friendly, and my dog is always in a good mood after spending a day here. Price for day-​boarding is reasonable and I’ve never had a problem. And the people at the front desk are awesome :)

Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital is a small quintessential veterinary practice focused on patient and customer service. Patients of course being dogs and cats. Dr. Kirk Steinam is the amazing proprietor and practitioner with a strong sense of compassion and ethics to represent your pet. Office Manager Kathy operates a friendly and professional office that makes every visit enjoyable. Dr. Steinam and staff are very knowledgeable about English Bulldogs and over the past nine years of bringing my bulldogs for care, my experience of the compassion towards patients and expertise in their treatment is awesome. I can’t say enough about compassion, as this is their specialty! Having made many visits my observations are this applies to all their patients. I have also found their selection of food and care products to be top quality, wide in selection and applicable to both young and elder dog and cat patients. I strongly recommend Dr. Steinam and Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital for service, as well as a place and practice uncommonly patient-​focused in the Los Angeles South Bay. I am grateful for the years of service and care. Many thumbs and paws up here!!!

If you are new to the area or unhappy with your current Vet, then I highly recommend you go to Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital. We have been involved with Bulldog rescue for over 20 years and Dr. Steinam and his staff have consistently personified the best in veterinary care. Their level of professionalism combined with show of compassion for each and every client is a reflection of why they are considered one of the best veterinary hospitals in the South Bay. Kathy, their office manager makes certain that your pet is treated like the most important client. They also carry a full line of dog and cat foods. We have been very satisfied clients for close to 10 years and because we have always adopted special needs or senior dogs, we have relied on their expertise to help us understand the various stages of elder pet care needs.
Some of the firemen and police officers who work here in Manhattan Beach also take their pets to Dr. Steinam for their care. Bravo to the entire staff for outstanding service to the residents of the South Bay!

Dr. Steinam has been our family’s vet for around 20 years. He has correctly diagnosed illnesses that other vets couldn’t figure out, and has saved the lives of our pets more than once over the years. He has a great bedside manner and is super gentle and caring with patients.
The vet techs are great and Kathy and all the receptionists are professional and friendly.

I should have written a review years ago. Dr. Steinam is the best vet and Kathy, front desk, is wonderful. I have been going there for 20 years and 2 dogs. They are so kind and caring and they check up on their patients. I can’t comment on the other vets because I only go to Dr. Steinam.

I have been going to this local vet for many years. I absolutely LOVE the front staff. They are courteous and it was so easy to walk my two Golden Retrievers to the vets office. Mind you one of my Goldie’s is older so he’s on thyroid medication for life. The other day my kids came home and one of my Goldie’s has gotten into something and was bleeding from his mouth. I was stuck in traffic from Santa Monica but I called and asked the vet to wait as I wasn’t going to get there until 6 pm. Great so far.
My dog is like my child so I’m pretty attached to him Anyway from what we could see perhaps my Goldie might have broken a molar and injured an artery. They have to do surgery to remove the molar and the estimate is going to be $ 1500. Eek!!! Ok go for it — this is my child after all
They call me and say they put him under and the molar is ok so no surgery. Hey but while he’s under would you like us to clean his teeth. I think sure why not it will cost less than taking a molar out and I’m already thinking that was going to be $ 1500 The dog isn’t coagulating so they have to give him vitamin k Ok my husband goes to pick him up the next day and calls me and says the bill is $ 2500!!!
WHAT! I spoke with the vet and they are willing to give me a $ 600 discount How does pulling a molar (est $ 1500) cost less than a teeth cleaning!!! Oh the dog spit a bit of blood under surgery which was made into a big deal that he could possibly have gotten into his lungs. What?!
Sorry this is long … Bottom line is how does an estimate go from $ 1500 to $ 2500!!! Ridiculous. I will NOT going back. Shame on them for treating such a loyal customer this way!!!

I have had great experiences here. I took my precious Westie to Dr. Behm and she was great. She answered all my questions and was very genuine. Also the staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. They called me back when they were supposed to and even worked directly with my old vet to get my dog’s records faxed to them! No hassle for me! Plus they are open on Saturday which I LOVE! Great vet for a busy professional!

I had a really bad experience here, Dr. Wang and her staff are awful. They were very condescending and rude. Not to mention they seem very incompetent in comparison to the vet I now use. I’ve been using my current vet in El Segundo for a year and half, the staff there is a complete 180 difference to Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital, it’s really like a breath of fresh air.
I felt taken advantage of by Dr. Wang and her staff, when they tried to sell me on all sorts of expensive testing and shots that my dog did not need. My dog is thriving now under different veterinarian care, no expensive treatments needed, just better advise. I’m so glad I found Dr. Streiber and Stacey at El Segundo Animal Hospital. Ammmmazing difference in treatment of both me and my dog. A little respect goes a long ways.
Dr. Wang and her staff are shady. If you want to waste a lot of money and feel hopeless about your dog’s chronic ear infections or allergies, this is the place to go.

I took my 1 yr old yorkie here (09÷10÷12) after she jumped out of my bike basket and got her hind legs stuck in the front wheel. Yes, it was an awful experience and my poor little Mila had blood in her urine shortly after the incident. I called them as soon as I saw the blood and was seen the same day within a couple hours. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I loved that the animals and their owners seem to be frequent patients. Dr. Steinam was excellent and did a thorough exam. I had a feeling I was going to walk out of here with a large bill thinking she’d probably need x-​rays/​blood work/​urinalysis. I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Steinam recommended low-​cost household items to tend to her wounds rather than have me spend money on doggy meds. He didn’t try to sell me on any extras. He explained everything thoroughly and was very comforting. I walked out of there feeling so relieved!
Today I received a welcoming postcard and had a follow-​up voicemail advising me to call if I still have any concerns. I LOVE excellent customer service!
I am happy to report that the blood went away and Mila is back to her mischievous little self :)

I has to find a Vet close by E.S. the person who answered the phone sounded nice and the prices were good. I had to take my oldest dog in to be Euthanized. The staff as well as the doc made the whole experience comfortable and memorable. Ive got two more at home, we’ve got a new Vet now. thank-youKirk.jc

There are 3 Vets at this office (I believe), and I’ve seen all of them. All 3 seem caring and compassionate with the animals, and they handle them gently. However, one of them told me my dog is overweight, and anther said he wasn’t. Then when he got really sick and became extremely lethargic and wouldn’t eat or drink, I took him in, but the Vet (I believe it was Dr. Wang), didn’t have a clue what was wrong with him. We asked if he could be constipated since he also wasn’t going to the bathroom. She ssid she didn’t think so, but she gave us a laxative anyways and said we could do an x-​ray if we wanted, but she didn’t think it would show anything. We left with a $ 60 bill for the exam and a laxative, and NO answers! We had no clue what was wrong with our dog, and he hadn’t eaten or drinken in 3 days!
So we ended up taking him to our old Vet in PV (Dr. Peggy Herrera). She did a THOROUGH inspection and found that our dog wouldn’t even open his mouth because he had a huge lump on his neck that was causing him pain! The other Vet completely missed the lump! She didn’t even do a thorough exam and open his mouth, yet she charged us $ 60! Dr. Herrera gave him antibiotics & fluids, she took a biopsy, and she told us to force-​feed him chicken baby food & chicken broth. Thank God for Dr. Herrera’s thoroughness, or our dog could have died because Dr. Wang at this Animal Hospital didn’t do her job! I will never go back here and hope other people don’t risk their animal’s lives by going here!

I was recommended by a friend, I called and asked about a basic exam. Kathy was great answering my questions, she was very helpful, and was willing to give me a next day appointment. I am a first time pet owner and was a bit worried about where to take my dog.
Well I must say Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital was GREAT! I went in and they have lot’s & lot’s of parking, The receptionists were very nice, friendly & helpful. The place smelled nice, not like chemicals, they had all types of animals coming and going.
Dr. Kagan was very nice & answered all my questions & concerns. The exam my pet received was wonderful. I was very Happy with the service and attention my dog received. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital

My husband brought his pug in for boarding over a weekend and had them examine him since it’s been a while since he had a vet check. Dr. Keegan (sp?) found issues with his eyes (no surprise) and were quick to call us and ask permission to do more tests to narrow down the issues and informed us of the possible conclusions and solutions. She was very nice, informative and caring. Thanks to her care, our puggy’s eyes are doing much better.
Based on this experience, we also brought in our two cats who were examined by Dr. Wang. She was really good with them and answered all our questions and concerns.
This office was extremely professional, friendly and seemed to love what they do.
What really impressed me was how inexpensive they were. I’ve taken my cat in to a Banfield hospital and walked out $ 300+ poorer after a regular «comprehensive» checkup that I wasn’t even present for. They were so booked that they had me drop my cat off and pick him up when they were done and tried to sell me on «extra» exams upon check-​in. Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital was the exact opposite. The checkups for our two cats only cost me $ 140-​ish total and that included a bottle of a Petromalt type thingy which was recommended only after I brought up the abundant hairballs. Plus, we were seen right away and present for the entire examination.
I’m glad we found this vet hospital!

My family has been going here for as long as I can remember — about 20 years :) — and we’d never go anywhere else. Dr. Steinam knows each and every one of our animals’ names and histories on sight. He is the kindest man, and has helped us through the losses and difficult decisions that are part and parcel of owning many dogs and cats over the years.
When one of our dogs was sick a few weeks ago, Dr. Steinam helped us to find obscure ideas that «might» work and they did! He is also very honest, straightforward and gentle.
The office staff is exceptional and we have developed a sort of friendship with them over the years. My sister worked here for a few years and found it an excellent place to work.
Now that I have my own cat, I bring him here exclusively and will continue to do so. I couldn’t recommend this vet more highly.
*Notes: Thursday evenings are Clinic evenings and you can get shots, etc with no exam fee.*
