At Mayos Music we specialize in all aspects of Fretted Stringed instrument music. We provide:

Private Instruction — Guitar (Acoustic and Electric), Bass, Ukulele, and other fretted stringed instrument instructions. Lessons are also available for songwriting, music theory, and instrument care and maintenance. Left handed players welcome. Teaching all ages: kids 5 years and up, teens to adults and seniors. Experience with students with learning disabilities and physical handicaps.

Luthier Services — Instrument repair, modifications, setups, and restorations of new, modern, vintage, and antique instruments.

Electronics Service — Tube and Solidstate, modern and vintage Guitar, Bass, and Keyboard amps. Mixing boards, PA systems, Speakers, Pickups, Pedals, etc.

Buy · Sell · Trade — of used (mostly vintage American) gear.

Meet the Business Owner

Kurt and Nick M.

Business Owner

Kurt Mayo is a private guitar/​bass & fretted string instrument instructor, performer and luthier with over 40 years in the business. Kurt teaches fulltime in Manhattan Beach and Torrance, Ca, is an El Camino & Cal State L.A. alumni, member of the Guild of American Luthiers since 1988 and a charter member of the Association of String Instrument Artisans since 1988. He has taught Master Classes at El Camino CC and is a vendor (Luthier/​Amp repair) for L.A. Harbor College. Kurt was the head of Guitar Instruction & Guitar Repairs at Marshall Music (Torrance, CA) from 1970 – 2013

Nick Mayo is a drummer by trade and a second generation Luthier and third generation amplifer repairman with twenty years of experience. Nick is an alumnus of both El Camino CC and Cal Poly Pomona with degrees in Electronics Engineering. He also holds an FCC GROL license with the Radar endorsement. He has taught Master Classes at El Camino CC and is a vendor (Luthier/​Amp repair) for L.A. Harbor College.
