Sea View Inn at the Beach

Not what I expected very poor room the only good thing was the free bike, needs refurbished.

No better place to stay to enjoy close proximity to the beach, reasonable rates, beautiful beach/​ocean views and SUPER nice staff. In the hustle and business of our lives, how often can you find a place of respite that offers you the ability to walk, a short block, to one of the best beaches in Southern California. Parking is awesome (something not usually found in beach cities) and there are local restaurants close by. Add to that the amenities of beach chairs, towels, and bikes for cruising on the strand and I can’t say there is any place I’d rather stay when I’m in that part of the world.

At the outset, I didn’t actually stay here — I went by and checked it out after being disappointed by the location of another hotel that is not near the beach. With the exception of a few lux suites (pictured in photos) across the street that have a beach view, the Sea View’s rooms are very small (like the most upscale studio/​efficiency apt. that was wait-​listed every year in college — but with very pretty new/​modern furniture/​décor) and I don’t think that there is anyone at the front desk after hours BUT… for the proximity to the beach, Highland Ave. and CLEANLINESS, you can’t beat it! When I go to LA for business solo, I like 24 hour human concierge-​type security but the next time I have an opportunity to bring boyfriend or a relative, I am definitely going to stay at the Sea View. The gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant and didn’t mind me going up to take a look at a room. (You have to have a key to go beyond the security gate and up to the room/​pool area.) I love (LOVE) Manhattan Beach — the laid back vibe, abundant and trendy healthy eating choices, walkability, and sheer beauty of the beach. This hotel seems to fit in perfectly — can’t wait for next trip!

I booked a room last minute for the weekend, but accidentally made it for the wrong date. My boyfriend and I show up to a fully booked hotel, save for one handicap friendly room. The staff was extremely gracious and allowed us to switch our reservation to the last room for no extra charge. They are so, so nice and completely saved our weekend.
The room itself was lovely, with a cutie little private deck overlooking a gorgeous sunset. The nicest touch are all the free bikes and beach stuff they provide (boogie boards, umbrellas, chairs, towels, etc).
Highly recommended and will return for another staycation very soon :)

The office closes at 11 PM. Scammers have been calling after 11 and punching in room numbers and asking about credit cards. We were called at 12 AM. This has been going on for sometime with no corrective action by the Inn. I suggest you unplug the phone before retiring.
The Inn provides an odd assortment of cups and glasses. It looks like the maids only rinse them out in the wet bar and put them back. Instead of individual packs of coffee, a tupperware container has loss ground beans. All in all, health and cleanliness standards are far below the typical Hampton Inn.
The staff was friendly and it does have a great location.

I’ll start with the positives. The views of the ocean are beautiful if you don’t mind listening to all the traffic as you sit on your balcony (if you have a room facing Highland). They have beach cruisers, beach chairs, towels and plenty of toys for you and your family to use during your stay. It is about 3 blocks from the beach, easy walk down steep hills to the beach, grueling walk back up the hills of you have small children or strollers.
The rooms have a nice modern remodel. But, the beds aren’t the best. Be prepared to move every time your spouse moves or rolls over. There are no black out curtains, only plantation shutters so it gets bright in the room very early. A majority of the rooms face a VERY busy street. Even with triple pane glass you can hear loud exhaust, loud music, motorcycles, diesels, etc. throughout the night. Traffic calms down around midnight and picks back up at 6am. When I requested a room change, they were able to find us a quieter room across the street, closer to the ocean and much quieter. Be specific in the type of room you are looking for when making reservations. The staff can’t always accommodate because this place books up. Trust me, it’s with the mo eu to upgrade to the west side of Highland.
We used the bikes one night and returned them an hour late (at 9pm instead of 8pm). The employee was very rude. He told me he gotten written up by his boss, which I don’t believe because he has no control over when people return the bikes. I apologized and offered to call his boss but he didn’t care nor would he give me his boss’ name. I feel bad but but there’s nothing I could do about our dinner taking longer than anticipated.
Overall this is a cool place to stay in Manhattan Beach. We’ll be back.

Such a great find close to the beach, close to restaurants, very nice staff… We booked this for 3 nights and the proceeds reasonable especially since they provided free bike, boogie boards, towels, chairs, umbrella rentals. Would stay there again for sure!

We came to the South Bay Area to be close to Torrence the next morning for business. We had heard of the Sea View Inn. We were told it felt like a home at the beach. Just up the street from North Manhattan Beach, comp. chairs umbrellas boogie boards. Ocean views. Great staff very helpful and steps from the best restaurants. The perfect get away. They were right.

Sea View Inn is a MUST stay if you are at Manhattan Beach! Not only is it only a couple of blocks from the beach, but literally close to everything, and excellent dining! I love how quaint and personal the hotel is. And Tony Morris, there is no better! Seriously one of the nicest and most accomodating people I have EVER dealt with at a hotel establishment! If ever someone could make you feel at home, he is that person. Take advantage of the free bike rentals! No better way than to enjoy the beach, than with a beach cruiser, some exercise and the sun. Will definitely come back and stay here again!

The room we got had some problems but the manager was extremely nice and attentive. When we mentioned the problems he reduced the room rate and said he would make sure they were fixed.

After several trips to MB staying at both private homes and hotels, I am convinced there is not a better place to stay than Seaview! Perfectly located close to EVERYTHING, beautiful views and truly the nicest people staffing the place I have met out here! Tony Morris is OUTSTANDING going above and beyond to treating us always like family! Must.Stay.Here!

It got better. I will say it wasn’t as horrible as first thought. Got a bit better as the days went on. Expect older rooms and if you’re on business and not pleasure I would just stay at a chain.

Ideal place with a spectacular view! We rented the apartment style rooms for our last stay here and it was great. Clean and spacious rooms, prime location, friendly staff (minus one guy who was a little rude working the late shift), and super affordable. Will definitely come back again and recommend this inn!

We stayed here recently for a stay-​cation. We live in Culver City and road our bikes down for an overnight. This Inn was absolutely perfect for our needs. We wanted a decent, clean, affordable place that was near the beach and walking distance to bars and restaurants. This hit all these and more. The staff we encountered were extremely nice, helpful, and funny. The manager went out of his way for us and it was much appreciated!
The beach is less than a 2 minute walk away. Our room was small but had everything we needed and when you’re this close to the beach — the room was just for sleeping and changing out of our swimsuits. An added bonus was the patio w/​chairs. Ours faced the street (which we didn’t mind — made for great people watching while we had a few beers and watched the sunset).
The shower in our room was really cool — it was glass but w/​frosted glass where it mattered, but you could still see out into the room and out the window to the view of the beach (narrow view, but STILL a view) and sky.
We were a minute’s walk to everything we needed and even walked down to the pier in the evening.
They provide a lot of items for beach going — which is SUPER convenient (especially since we had biked in — we had packed quite light).
We can’t wait to go back!
If you go — you must go to the bakery/​cake shop across the street. Their treats are AMAZING (the bacon, cheddar, chive scone and cinnamon roll were incredible). Also, the pizza joint just ½ a block away was wonderful. We had a salad, pitcher of beer, and pizza — couldn’t be happier.

This was our third time to stay here. Each time we had a different room. For this stay we chose the two bedroom unit. Positives; GREAT view of Pacific, large room, adequate kitchen, updated sitting room furniture, ceiling fans over each bed, covered parking, location to restaurants, relatively clean, people there extremely nice and very accommodating, housekeeping crew works around your schedule to clean the room, beach cruisers, towels and chairs. Negatives; noisy from traffic (we knew this going in,) very soft bed in one bedroom, very mushy pillows, smelly kitchen drain, unable to adjust speed of ceiling fan over one bed, the WIFI as previously stated can be a bit challenging to stay online. This is really a 3 star-​ish hotel but am giving 4 because of view and location. It’s one of really just two only hotels that are located in Manhattan Beach.
Room Tip: Rooms on the east side of Highland have generally better views.

We got the worst room in the building, probably. Facing the alley. Ikea furniture. No decorations. Dirty carpets. Found a spider on the bed. There is just shampoo-​conditioner, not conditioner so bring your own.
Finally, the walls and floors are paper thin. Heard the couple upstairs having sex from 2 AM until 3 AM and the wall behind our bed was shaking with each (t)hump.

For what I wanted its great.
End of a business trip right off the beach.
Rooms clean and bright.
The desk has anything to enjoy the beach to loan.
Lots of shops and pubs to enjoy all within a block.
