Synthetic Dream Lawns

We had our front yard, approx. 400 square feet, done with synthetic turf. Ross did a great job explaining the process from start to finish and left us with a positive impression. They showed up on time, did the demo and had everything installed in two days. Ross was very hands on, professional, friendly, and did a terrific job. We are very happy with our new lawn and it looks very realistic.

Referred to my by a friend, I thought I’d give them a chance to bid on my project. Ross came back with the best price, and although very hard to get ahold of, once we finally nailed him down Ross delivered much more than promised! A true landscape job, not just a «Fake Grass» install. From rerouting the sprinkler lines to become irrigation for my trees and water friendly plants, to truly sculpting the yard into something I can be proud of. I highly recommend him! If you’re thinking about converting your yard to a water friendly, child and pet safe yard, have the guys from Synthetic Dream Lawns do the work. You’ll be glad you did.

This is the second time having a synthetic lawn installed so I have had some experience with the process. I am little shocked by the positive reviews posted for the business, Synthetic Dream Lawns, due to the fact that my experience was so bad. Ross is neither ethical nor knowledgeable about synthetic lawn installation. He is however a certified teacher in the art of negotiating, so watch out. He knows how to spin a deal. But when it comes time to deliver the work is shoddy and once he is paid you can forget about any issues that you may have because you will never see him again. Actually, you are lucky to see him at all because he failed to show up several times when he had promised to show and commence work. So if you have the type of life where you need to make arrangements to be home so you can let him into your property, get ready to be disappointed,
At the outset Ross provided me with a written estimate. When it came time to pay him he said that he forgot to add the cost for tinting my windows to prevent the double pane glass from melting my lawn. Ross claimed he was an expert in this and had access to a special tinting that would take care of it. His estimate had the tinting listed in the left margin and he also mentioned it in the narrative of the email that accompanied the estimate stating that tinting was an extra charge. So since the tinting was in the left margin among other itemized services and the costs were in the right margin and totaled at the bottom of the estimate the representation was that the price included all services and the tinting being «extra» was already factored into the price. In retrospect, I believe that this was all a way to close the deal and get a little extra cash. Yes, I know I could have told him to pound sand and it was my choice to pay him.
As far as quality of service, I can say that it was far below the first company that I used. Areas of the lawn were missing nails and there was a sinkhole created as well. And it is important to note that these issues were never corrected even though Ross said he would correct them.
Then the windows begin reflecting sunlight that was melting the lawn, Ross was quick to point to the «no guarantee» in the estimate. Okay, fair enough. I did some research of my own and found some tint, installed it and it worked. But now my lawn was melted. So much for Ross being an expert in window tinting to protect your lawn from this type of damage. All in all anyone who provides a service involving quality of workmanship and they do not make any kind of effort to correct their mistakes but instead they point to the NO GUARANTEE clause lacks the pride in their workmanship as well as the integrity that I expect from anyone who has a reputation for doing a good job.
So I still needed my lawn repaired and before going elsewhere I decided to see if I could get Ross to do it. We made a barter and trade of personal training from me in exchange for him repairing the lawn. I gave him four sessions of training and he never fixed the lawn. The reason why I fronted the sessions was because I was researching the tinting, which took a few weeks until I was able to find a cheap and simple product to solve the problem. Besides, it is not the sessions. I could care less about that. But rather that Ross has no integrity and cannot be trusted.
Obviously, my experience with Ross and his little operation was a very negative one. And maybe this was a fluke and he is as great as all the other 5 reviews say. Nonetheless, I feel it is my duty to post my experience because I spend a lot of time reading reviews as a major part of my decision making process when I am selecting a product or service. I would have passed him and his business by if I had read a candid and straight forward accounting of a negative experience from a previous customer. The shoddy and dishonorable service he provided to me I honestly do not believe was a fluke. He is a smooth talking salesman who delivers a substandard service and product.

If you’re looking for a dependable, ethical individual to work with, choose Ross. I was completely satisfied with my experience and am proud to recommend him to others.

Ross came out and did the area around our front sign the first time at our business Independent Repair in Redondo Beach. It looked so nice, no weeds, no watering and it has held up over the years.
We had him back to do three more sections of our landscaping.
He delivers as promised! Work was done on time and they cleaned up after they were done.
He also held to the estimate and even through in some suggestions and other work for free.
I give him my highest rating!

We replaced about 1600 sqft of grass in our flat backyard with Tiger Turf Sierra Pro. Very happy overall with the results, and for the price/​value/​quality I didn’t think I could do better.
Ross is pleasant to work with, and I did learn some things from him that other vendors I interviewed did not mention. He shaped a nice crown so the turf would look more natural. Good attention to detail by the workers cutting around 15 – 20 large flagstones we had. There is only one seam I can barely detect if I look hard enough, but otherwise everything looks pretty clean.
I did get a nervous as a 3-​day job as promised turned into a 5-​day job barely finished in the nick of time just before my daughter’s birthday party, but we did get a lot of compliments on the lawn. The team came back the following day to put the silica sand infill and other finishing touches. He asked if I would be flexible to push back the job start by 1 day which I agreed, but it seemed he underestimated the job. I do not know if the underestimation on his part was related to our particular job or the fact that sun sets early in the fall, so take that into account.
We also added on a special tint on our adjacent low-​e double pane windows that would reduce the chance of «hot spots» on our new turf from the sun that was recommended. My research had not uncovered that issue, but we were going to tint them anyway and it turned out okay. If you get this option, I would recommend asking it be done on a day when there’s not so much wind and dust flying around from the dirt and silica sand infill application.
We had a problem with a corroded garden hose adapter that Ross got fixed for free, which was nice of him.
Ross is most easily reachable by cell. His e-​mail correspondence could be improved. I would have to follow up with a text or phone call regarding the schedule, which sometimes had last minute changes. At times I felt coordination/​communication could have been tighter and more organized but ultimately SDL delivered.
I trust if there are any problems in the future Ross would be happy to take care of them for me.

We have a small backyard in Hermosa Beach that was old and concrete and not very family-​friendly (we have a 14 month old who is just learning to walk and another baby on the way). I called Synthetic Dream Lawns after doing some online research and Ross came to our house for a consultation the next day. Within two days, we had our transformed yard and we absolutely love it. Ross (and his team) was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They had to level the concrete and prepare it with a gravel mix to even it out and prepare it for the turf, also some drilling and ripping up of the concrete. They were efficient and thorough, and even cleaned out the surrounding garden beds for a beautiful finished product. Highly recommend Ross and his team, and wish I had called him sooner! Very fair price for the work done.

I spoke to Ross on a Monday and my lawn was completed 4 days later. Ross walked me thru the entire process from beginning to end. Absolutely no surprises except the lawn looked much better than I anticipated.

I received the contact to Ross at Synthetic Dream Lawns when I was researching about turf and went to a liquidation shop. He was very responsive to my inquiry and was able to offer a great solution to the fact that we have two large dogs that will be using this relatively small area — none of the other companies I contacted even suggested adding a drainboard/​lining underneath the turf that would add an air gap to allow for evaporation and improved runoff when cleaning it. His bid was more than competitive even given the addition of the lining.
He and his staff were prompt and courteous and went out of their way to make things work when there was a hiccup in starting the project (they didn’t have the road prep/​gravel with them, but found out where to get it and immediately came back with what was needed).
I think any issues that arose stemmed mostly from the fact that we are really out of their service area (We are in San Clemente, they are in Manhattan Beach.) I had to stay on top of getting things coordinated, but I must say that Ross was more than willing to work with us in order to get a product that we would be happy with. And, now that we have a beautiful green lawn (which our dogs promptly checked out and laid down on) I must say we are happy indeed!

Most contractors are slow to call you back, slow to finish the job and there always seems to be some ‘unforseen’ extra added to the cost. Not this time. Ross really is as good as it gets. My tiny backyard looked like a trash heap and my front yard was in disrepair. Ross was professional and answered all of my questions. When i wasn’t sold on the synthetic lawn samples he showed me, he found a product I liked better. He was competitive on the price, completed the job quickly and went above and beyond by cleaning up the parts of my yard that weren’t even part of his bid. Very well done.

My cousin had a great experience with Ross so I decided to give him a call for my synthetic lawn needs as well. I was able to speak with him and set something up for the following day. He came out when he said that he would, assessed the situation and was able to get to work on that same day. He was very nice and knowledgable. My lawn looks wonderful!
