I recently had 24 hours to find a smashing outfit to wear to a big TV series premier and I went into 2nd Time Around looking for a save. Thanks to Courtney, who I believe is the manager, I found several! A gorgeous strapless silk jumper, a sleek contemporary black dress and a bad a** leather jacket, all for about ¼ (or less) of what I would have paid retail. Courtney helped me put together the right look, gave me her opinion on everything, and the whole experience was a blast. I felt like I was shopping with a friend. Thank you Courtney and many thumbs up for 2nd Time Around!

The employees tend to be more attentive at this location than the others, though I still wouldn’t call them «friendly». Visit after Christmas to take advantage of the 50% off sale — best prices all year. I got a cute floral top from Meg Shop for around $ 20.

I was a satisfied customer for years. I shopped the various NYC and Boston location stores. I felt that the price that I paid in exchange for top quality merchandise was more than fair.
However, as a new consignor myself i trusted the Madison Avenue store to sell my items and pay me accordingly. I consigned my items and was emailed that the merchandise was sold by mid August. However, my check never arrived and we are going into December. I called and spoke to Ally, the store manager. She was instructed by BOSTON headquarters to not issue me or any consignor a check or cash. She verified my address several times and still my check has not arrived. My emails to the headquarters have been ignored. I have no choice but to consider them thieves. Maybe the way i received great prices as a customer was by not paying many consignors or paying them a year later. As of now, I assume that I will not be paid. NEVER CONSIGN YOUR MERCHANDISE WITH THIS BUSINESS EVER!!!

Found a wonderful Coach tote bag for my daughter at the 7th Avenue & 15th Street store. I brought it to the register & began to pay for the bag when I heard the manager telling someone on the phone that a customer (meaning me) was at the register paying full price for the bag. Suddenly, the manager took the bag from me saying a regular customer just bought it over the phone & I could not have the bag!!! I was speechless & had never been treated so poorly by an establishment. I will NEVER go back to this store!

work in Chelsea and this store has great finds. Just bought a few pieces of timeless jewelry at very reasonable prices. Their stock moves quick and always new merchandise. Manager is nice and helpful.

I have consigned items w. reasonable success and bought a few items. The Manager at the 35 th st store is cold, carelss and haughty… cant imagine why. The woman on 19th st very welcoming.
Its still hit or miss… in a world of more a bigger markdowns and competitive coupons

I’m a serious vintage shopper, hit up the thrift stores for cool finds and have been around the second hand block. I was very surprised by STA. First, walking in, it had that musty thrift store smell — the smell of unwashed clothes. Seriously? Just around the corner from this SWA is Housing Works and Angel Street thrifts — where you can actually find Chanel and YSL at crazy good prices, if you hunt and come back enough. So, for those bargains, yeah, slightly musty clothes are ok. The one dress I coveted had two buttons missing and some stains. The salespeople were not shocked by that — they shrugged it off. «We can take a little more off — 10%.» The prices are good, but not fabuous considering the condition they’re in.
Note that if you’re donating your clothes to charities like Dress for Success, which supplies clothes to disadvantaged women, you are expected to deliver them clean and pressed. Second Time Around should do nothing less.

Really excited to check out this second hand store in the Upper West side.
I found several adorable high end designer dresses that were reasonably priced. They have a color coding system here which indicate if each item is a New Arrival or is a discounted piece.
I absolutely love the lay out of this store, the shoes especially! The shoes were all in excellent condition and I would have taken each pair had they been my size ;)
The employees greeted us as soon as we walked in and explained their color coding system. When we were looking at their jewelry which is located in a case, a staff member was close buy to unlock the case.
A good stop for a day of shopping.

Love STA, but the employees at this location just aren’t the friendliest. I think they are more concerned with being on their phones and playing with the mannequins than helping paying customers.

The women who work in this shop have a serious attitude problem. They must be trained to never smile, and be rude to both sellers and buyers. They have okay resale items, nothing amazing and usually a few seasons out of style. Overall, not worth visiting as a seller or buyer because of how rude they are.

As a stylist I must always see the consignment stores local to the area I’m traveling. This place has good customer service and a good selection of Louis Vuitton handbags. They have some good pieces here as far as dresses and other pieces are concerned. The customer service was really good, and she grabbed everything for me, although I didn’t spend any any money.
Although, I didn’t buy anything I do regret it! Will visit here next time in the Chelsea area of NYC.

Just stopped by to check out spring clothing and found a moth crawling on a 3.1 Philip Lim dress. Brought it to the attention of the cashier who looked panicked and spoke with a colleague. Colleague was nonplussed and shrugged.
So for anyone shopping there — immediately dry clean anything you get before bringing it home.

I was curious to what the fuss is all about… I didnt really see anything impressive. There is one rack of designer jckets that was in the 1000s.
I was looking at the other stocks… I saw a skirt that qas errily familiar… turna out its from club moncaco. Its on sale here for 59 dollara. I got the exact same skirt, new for less than 50.
There were a lot of j crew too
So…I dont think its all that great?
I am a newbie at consignment shops thought… but I find it all very intriguing.

1) This store will change your life.
2) KNOW YOUR SEASONS, like which season it actually is, they won’t take tiny tops in winter people.
3) They try to steer clear of mass brands but occasionally you will see some of those J. Crew tops peppered in there.
4) I can’t even tell you how amazing the deals are, you need to go in yourself!
Personally, I don’t shop anywhere but consignment/​thrift anymore, but STA is just a the cherry on top of my style life. I mean where else can you get a DVF dress for $ 119? or Alice + Olivia dress for $ 109? NO WHERE! And their purse selection, mmhmmmmm!!! The awesome goodies are behind the counter, take a peek! Act fast when CHANEL comes in because it won’t last more than 24 hrs.

I agree with another reviewer that a good portion of the merch here is very Chelsea gallerina, but every time I come here I find lots of surprises.
Today, for example, I tried on several pairs of J Brand and Paige jeans, Tibbi and Steven Alan skirts, and Marc Jacobs and BCBG dresses. My friend bought a pair of dark wash R&R jeans for $ 60. I nearly died when I came across their gorgeous fur coats. Granted, they ranged from $ 1,500 to $ 3,000, but a fur coat is a piece you’ll have forever. I’m coming back for one after my next bonus!
Today they were having a major sale, and I was pretty happy to find that most of the items were at least 20% off — a couple even 50% off.
I can’t speak to their handbags, but they have a decent selection of shoes (50 – 75 pairs), and there are always lovely baubles in the jewelry case.

The selection here is a little «older», think Chelsea gallarista, with higher end brands being the majority. Friendly staff (still not as personable as the PVD location), but very organized, and the clothes seem to have been in pretty good condition (it was harder to see them as consignment).
While I appreciate at the color tag system, don’t let the signage fool you! You will be huntin and peckin for the higher percentages, and the newest arrivals will be the majority. Come to think of it, not sure if I have ever come across something that has the 50% off tag!!!
