8th Avenue Subway Station

Eighth Avenue 14^th Street here lies the A, C and L trains.
The A train platforms (both Queens bound and Uptown 207^th Street) contains Tom Otterness’s «Life Underground» of playful bronze sculptures seen throughout this station and on the A train platforms. This station is a very vital segue that connects the A train to the L train. Ample standing space and never feel crowded at anytime of day or day of the week.

Everyday Monday-​Friday I take the A train to work. You can Also connect to the E, C and L lines at this subway station. There’s a little convenience booth if you would like to stop by and grab a quick snack or something to drink. This is one of the beat subway stations and the A is one of the best train lines. The A always comes fast and there are rarely any delays. Plus I love that the A is express and not local.

The last station on the L line. It is fairly spacious, not too crowded with tourists or filled with irritating religious nuts, panhandlers and the like. You’ll definitely get more of the New York City experience at this station vs. Times Square, Grand Central or some of the other bigger stations.
Check out the aforementioned statues since they are unique to this station, the creator’s misdeeds aside.

This is a great connecting station; I often transfer to or from the L to the A trains. When the L isn’t running and we’re forced to take shuttle buses, I suffer. It’s particularly useful if you’re taking the A uptown or downtown, at least on weekdays; then you have the huge jump from 59^th street to 125^th, if you’re going that far.
Another reviewer wrote a whole review of the little cast-​bronze creatures running around this station, not having any clue about Tom Otterness’ – the sculptor’s – dark past.

I thought I had already reviewed this station, but apparently I hadn’t.
Although his cute creatures are much beloved, that’s all the more reason to remind people of his past, in which he shot a dog dead while documenting the crime on film. (A dog «snuff film,» if you will.) There is no excuse for such depravity, even if he claims now that he’s «deeply sorry.» Has he donated to any animal charities? Tried to make restitution in any way? Then those are empty words; see you in hell, Tom.
